I got a private message from someone, and it was about 3-4 weeks ago. I haven't been in here for almost a month, and didn't get the message until tonight. Now, when I responded (and it was a great message!) it says the account is blocked!!! I don't know how this thing works, but does that mean she doesn't want to be contacted?

I'm distraught. I've been so busy, and I feel like I missed an opportunity to get to know someone in our community. I would post her name, but respectfully will refrain. I just feel bad that she might have thought I was ignoring her, and that's the last thing I would ever do.

I kid, of course. The spam accounts send these really nice messages to members asking to get to know them, but they get banned before too many responses can be made. I got a couple of the spamvertisements, too.

It has happened before. A few years Ago there was someone here who was actually impersonating another member.

They were able to come on as her, post as her and even chat as her. When the real member came on there were now two members of the same name and the fake would abruptly leave. It got so bad that this fake got another member almost in trouble with a local US police force.

So seriously, watch out for fakes and yes and as wisely stated by Crystal, talk to a mod.
