I wish Barry Bonds would not break the record...

I saw the thread on Go Barry....and not wanting to hijack that thread I had to start one of my own.
Now Im not a huge baseball fan, I have a slight bit of attention for it, but as a casual fan I WISH that Barry Bonds would not break the record.

I know he has not been charged, failed a test or anything....BUT when the book written by those journalists came out, Bonds sued them for profitting from the book, but not on the FACTS in the book. Bonds has never once refuted the statements in the book, or if he has in someway he has never sued the people or the publisher for lying, slander or anything. If a book was written like that about ME I would sue. Hell a couple of people posted incorrect and personally damaging information on Wiki-enter what you like-pedia and Fuzzy Zoeller sued them for slander or something like that.
So that tells me along with other things like Bonds shoe and hat size growing LARGER that he has done something, mostly likely what is in that book.

My wish is that when Bonds is 1 HR away from tieing the record that every pitcher he faces for the rest of season walks him intentionally. For the rest of his carrer. Will that give the Giants an advantage....sure, but in my opinion its what is best. And something I personally would email, ask and lobby every major league pitcher for.
Show solidarity....walk him everytime.
I dont care if he's taking walks at 90 years old....just NEVER let him get that record.

Or I can hope they charge him with perjury and he gets suspended before he can get much closer.

Either one Id be fine with.

I know where your getting at....and the answer of course is....I dont know really. But even if every single pitcher he has faced was using performance enhancers...two wrongs dont make a right. They're juicin so I will too or they're probally juicin so I better do it too so I can keep up is not an excuse, a reason or in my opinion any way to validate what he might have accomplished while taking performance enhancers himself...allegedly.

Just my opinion of course.

Difference is a pitcher would benefit very small from "performance enhancing drugs" A pitcher has his power from torque from his hips and is a whole system, so being bigger would mean he would slow him down. Someone can hit a homerun just by using upper body force, see: jose canseco and mark mcgwire
Just cuz someone takes roids doesnt mean they could then be able to throw a 98 mph fastball

If i was an opposing coach, i would fine my pitchers every strike they would throw him and demand every ball be high and fast. Either barroids is gonna get on base by walk or by taking one in the face(or on his overly protected elbow which is btw, against mlb regulations)

In the era of the juiced ball and the mounds being shaved down to reduce the power of pitching, hitting a homerun isnt what it used to be

Im glad barroids will never get a true record of his own, like consecutive hits, consecutive games played but sadly he may get 3000 hits

Besides he has had a great eye and the best hand-eye coordination for a long time so really what did the steroids, if he used them, do help him hit a normal 400 ft. homerun now 500ft.? It would have still been a homer just now it may have more distance, or what it allowed him to recover from the day to day grind or injuries quicker? What baseball fan doesn't want their star players back faster? Not to mention where was all this outrage when the public was in love with Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa when they found Andro in Mark's locker? Everyone cheered then but since its Barry who's breaking a record the haters come out. Its ridiculous and insane, I hope Barry does it and I'll cheer him when he does because like him or not he's one of the best ball players ever!

Every time you throw a pitch, you are destroying your arm. Steroids will prevent that from happening. You will be able to throw faster on more consistent basis. Yes, just because someone takes steroids does not mean they can throw a 98 mph fastball, and not everybody that takes steroids can hit home runs.

Storm....the problem isnt with the 400 ft. homeruns now being 500 ft. Its with the majority of his that were 325, 375, 400 ft. that would have been only 225, 275, or 300 ft. so they would not have been homeruns...meerly caught at the warning track or deep in the field.

Perhaps I was not aware of it happening during his HR chase, because if I knew that..there would have been outrage..just as Iam outraged now by McGwires and Sosa's actions. Im happy beyond belief that McGwire will never be able to say "First Ballot Hall of Famer"

Like a lot of people, i hope Barry does not break this record. I would walk him everytime he comes to the plate. The man is a complete ass, you know he's used steroids and he just isn't worth cheering for. Does he have great hand/eye coordination? Without a doubt. But Barry was never known as a home run hitter for most of his career, then all of the sudden....boom! He's knocking balls out of the park and his head has ballooned. C'mon, let's stop kidding ourselves and acknowledge the man used steroids.

I also find it great that Hank Aaron will not be there whenever Barry breaks the record. Even the Commissioner is waffling about attending. The next time Barry's kids hold up stupid posters about "pitch to my Daddy", fans should replace them with "My Daddy's a cheater".

There was a great quote from ex-Mets manager Bobby Valentine regarding Bonds. When they asked him about Bond's alleged steroid use (and the power drawn from it), he quipped, 'does he shoot them in his eyes?' Steroids, however, can increase your bat speed thereby giving you more time to react to a pitch- a definite advantage at the plate. They affect more that just a player's power and ability to recover from injuries. This article discusses some of those points:

Scientists say they do not believe steroids improve hand-eye coordination, but because they agree the drugs help build strength, some extrapolate that steroids would also quicken bat speed. Better bat speed gives the hitter more time to wait on a pitch, to read it and follow it. The player most likely has an extra split second to decide what pitch is approaching and whether he wants to swing at it.

I tried to give Barry Bonds and some other players I condiser cheats the benefit of the doubt. But there is enough evidence at this point of steroid use that I hardly even question whether or not he used them (knowingly). And I, too, hope he doesn't break Hank Aaron's record. But it doesn't matter all that much. I won't think of him as holding that record legitimately if he does. In the 90s, Bonds was a very good ball player who could do a lot of things well, and consequently, was a much more exciting player. The power game, to me, is rather boring. It's a shame baseball has put so much emphasis on it.
