All right, all you other "old timers" (Yeah, I'm a 23 year old "old timer") probably remember the discussion on AMT about 3 years ago regarding a way to recognize other ticklers/ticklees in public. The idea that came of this was to carry around an orange pen, being that that is an unusual item, and would be easily recognized. This idea was popular for a week or two, but then died, probably because people don't carry pens everywhere, pens are tough to spot, it could just be someone from an art class, what have you.

I was surfing the MTP site the other day, and just happened to look in the clothing section. All of a sudden, the idea struck me: How about a tickler/ticklee recognition shirt? Not a shirt that says "Hey, I've got a tickling fetish!" or something obvious, but a shirt with a unique, non-tickling related graphic on it that would be recognized only by members of our exclusive little community. Some sort of picture, or design, or something... Maybe large on the back (to spot at a distance) and small on the right front. Also somthing that looked decent enough to wear to the park, school, the mall, etc.

Just to make sure they're really part of our group, when one spotted a person wearing this shirt, they could meander up and give a recognition code, (very 007) like "Nice shirt, are you from the TMF?"

If the person was, they could reply with something like "Oh, you mean 'The Forum'?"

If the person wasn't, and asked what the TMF was, you could always tell them it was the "Tennessee Mountain Finders" or the "Terrible M*th*r F*ck*rs" Motorcycle Club, or something like that.

Anyways, it was just an idea that popped into my head, and might not be real great, but who knows? Anyways, just thought I'd throw it out there...

I think that idea has potential. Esp on a college campus, where there is a wide variety of people in such a small area. I know I've wondered how many people at LSU are also ticklephiles like me, and how I hoped oh so dearly that it's that super-hot co-ed next to you in the library. Hmm, no wonder I could never find enough time to study.
It needs a little work, but I like it. We know we are out there, but some are just too shy to be noticed. "Let's do it!"

Good idea, but....
there are over 100 million people in USA and there are about 1000 people in our forum, so the chances are not too good meeting one.
its worst than 1 out of 10,000.
I'm not being negative, I love the idea 🙂

I think the lad is brilliant as well! Besides, there are more of us out there than I think WE think. Hankies in the right pocket caught on for homsexuals, pink ribbons for AIDS awareness, and Jeff Foxworthy albums for rednecks...why NOT a tickling symbol of some kind? Perhaps a feather label pin? (Most jaunty, AND unisexual!) Anybody have a relative in the jewlery biz? I smell marketing coup!

Let me know what you guys want on them, maybe do a poll or a survey or something, and Ill try to put something together.

Great idea

...the idea about maybe making it a contest among the members sounds tremendous!

Great Idea

I think that's a great idea asu. There seem to be quite a few people that think you're onto something here. Run with the idea. It might also make an interesting conversation-piece, one that might make for some interesting situations if you ever had to explain it.

a unique symbol

The only way to avoid confusion in public is to simply create a new, unique symbol, or take one from an obscure ancient society that no one wears anymore, maybe that refers to tickling or eternal happiness or joy or something. An orange pen is too common, but a feather is even more common, and would look rather strange on a business suit, for instance. Time for historical research in symbolic language. Maybe an Aramaic symbol, or letters no one read, because it hasn't been used since ancient times....

I'm in!!

The tickle symbol sounds good to me. Good idea Asutickler.😉

I'm in!! I love this idea! I too go to a college campus and it would be interesting, not to mention the research conversations it could fuel. Let me know what happens.
😛

This is an absolutely inspired idea; but the identifying insignia should i thnk at least have something to do with feathers, since they practically define our, for lack of a better word, fetish. Just one man's opinion, but i do indeed applaud the basic concept.

would this be too out of the norm

How bout just a small feather on the front, like on the pocket or something like the alligator shirts? Just an out there idea.

I guess the "urban sombrero" wouldn't fit the subtlety requirement...🙂

I'm liking the idea more and more...

...of a small silver or gold feather, perhaps about 3/4 to inch in length, that would serve as a unisex lapel pin. (Hey, if guys can feel proud of wearing their "Knights of Pythias" pins, why not this?) I kept doodling and brainstorming, but its all this tired old cerebellum is coming up with.

Went garage saling on the way to the doc's office today and guess what I found? A gold-plated feather pin! Of course, for fifty cents,I couldn't refuse.😉 I thought you might be interested to know that they are easier to find than you think. Happy Looking!🙂

Bad idea #489398:

For those looking for a more subtle symbol of recognition, perhaps a rubberband around the wrist with a distinct coloring???

Not the bracelet

Hi,

I like the idea. However, the bracelet is out for me. I really do not wear any jewelry. Starting wearing a bracelet would be too strange.

I like the idea of a logo that can be put in pins or t-shirts. Although the feather seems to be a popular choice, I vote for the more obscure option of using an old symbol/letter/character.

Hmm... How about this? Is there a kanji symbol for tickling? Anyone Japanese around here?

Japanese calligrafy is cool, refined, and it would open the possibility for a lot of conversations. If you want to talk about it you can engage in a discussion about ticking. Otherwise, you could say, "I just tought it looked cool".

Bye,

Knight Tickler

True, true....

I think I got it.

How about something like this, only with a white background and a large white feather in the middle?

My choice would be subtle as a brick...

You could say that coming up with the winning suggestion would be a
feather in someone's hat...
I'm all for subtlety, but what's wrong with a secret handshake which
culminates in a poke in the other's ribs? That would shake out the ticklephiles. Of course, it might precipitate a few brawls and lawsuits, too...😛
