I say this in reference to the other week, and I told you about my fine tickling of Sarah, but what I noticed was she went crazy as I wriggled my fingers down her armpits, and then as the minutes went on was giggling playfully.. whereas minutes earlier she was in hysterics! If you are tickled in the same spot 4 several minutes do you get used to it and it tickle less?? Please get back to me.. Joe

Well I would assume it would desensitize slightly if you constantly tickled it. That's why you give one spot a break as you move on to others for a while. 😎

In my experience there's a curve. If you focus on one area then initially it gets more sensitive. Then it trails off. How long it takes depends on the 'lee and how you're tickling. Generally speaking light tickling makes the build-up more obvious and the loss of sensitivity slower than with heavier tickling.

I usually figure that it's best to switch spots every 5-10 minutes. I can usually come back to a spot later after it has a chance to recover.

In my experience, the more you concentrate on one area, for the most part, (ex: feet), the less ticklish they are. I've had girls go from hysterics to giggles to nothing, and I've had my fair share of experience as a 'ler, so I'm assuming it's not my lack of ability....... (I Hope :sadcry: ) Of course, there are exceptions, but that's what I"ve seen for the most part

it depends...
if the waves of tickling are not repeatitive even the same spot can require a lot of time to become desensitized.
Furthermore (and this is a further questions for you all), I found that areas that are not ticklish at all at time zero become extremely ticklish after being tickled (in other areas) for quite some time.

Back in the ol' good days when I practiced everyday, I found out that after a lot of time of regular tickling (let's say, a month) you do become WAY less ticklish and you should use some days off (i.e. a week) to restore your original ticklishness.

A plus, and this is a further questions for you all, I found that areas that are not ticklish at all at time zero become extremely ticklish after a being tickled (in other areas) for quite some time.

From my experiences as a lee, I would agree with both of these statements. I do think it varies from person to person though, because as a ler I have found that the second statement above isn't ALWAYS true. With the same spot, I think the more you can vary the touch, the longer it will take to desensitize (that's why us girls are lucky to have nails).

Or maybe after someone tickles the same spot over and over all the time, it tickles less because you already expect it to happen and know what it feels like.

Men can substitute if they really wanted. Super glue false nails to a latex glove or something.

In my experience it varies from person to person, just the like the level of ones ticklishness.

I've know people that are jump out of their skin ticklish at the first poke, but almost numb by the second one.

On the other hand, there is my sister in law. If I get my hands on her sides or feet and she starts laughing she cannot stop. I can use the same motion in the same spot for as long as I want and she will laugh the whole time as if I just started tickling her.

My wife's feet are the same way. If she could stand it you could literally tickle her for hours and get the same laugh at the end that you got at the begining.

I, for the sake of fairness, am the same way too. Lightly tickle my belly and sides and I will squirm and giggle the entire time. Tickle my feet and it is slightly less so...although, as has been mentioned, the use of nails does continue to increase the effect...damn it. 😉

I've got two words for you: guitar picks.

i've allways found when a spot gets desensative, verbal teasing allways seems to fire it back up..

I've got words for you too! Why don't you go into some detail about that so some of our east coast fellas can learn your technique? 😉

I'll owe you one!

It seems individual. Tickleshotel and I were discussing this very thing the other day. I know two girls on the forum. One says that it tickles less over time, the other says it remains the same.

It varies

This depends on a lot of things. For one, it can depend simply on the ticklee, and how ticklish they are; some people are just more ticklish, or can feel ticklish, longer than others.

The tickler can also be accounted for. If you tickle someone lighter first, it can build up to more intense, longer lasting, ticklishness for example. Switching locations instead of focusing on one spot is another key technique, like many others have already mentioned in this thread. It's also about the way the tickler tickles.

In my own experience, I've noticed that if I focused in one spot too long, my ticklee would laugh/giggle less and less, and become less ticklish there. I've always gotten a much different reaction when I changed locations though.

And as I've said before in a different post, tickling is all mental. You can often get a reaction from someone when you simply tickle the air over their body but not actually touch them. It's the thought of being tickled that gets you, even if there's no physical contact. Just like how you usually can't tickle yourself. Yet you have someone else tickle you and it's a whole different story! So a ticklee's mood can also be a factor in ticklishness, as that is a state of mind. Ok then, I'm done analyzing, lol!

Well, your basic guitar pick is just a rounded triangle of plastic. How sharp the points are varies according to style, so you can get several for different feelings.

You can use them in several different ways. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Hold the pick between your thumb and first two fingers, and trail the point slowly along the skin. Vary the pressure a little until you find the "magic zone." You'll know when you find it (and you'll also know at that point how securely your 'lee is tied).
  • With a grip similar to the first item, make rapid back and forth motions with the point of the pick. The motion is very similar to rapidly strumming a guitar. As above, vary the pressure until you find the "sweet spot." Apply this to underams, sides, and soles. The results are especially dramatic on feet, IMX.
  • Hold the pick between your teeth so the point extends just slightly past your lips. Let your lips be soft and flexible, not pressed together, and trail your lips and the point of the pick lightly over your 'lee's skin. This is a light-touch technique for the back of the neck, the small of the back, the inner thighs, behind the knees, or anywhere else that the skin is soft and sensitive.
That last one especially is a sensation you can't get from fingernails.

I'll owe you one!
Think nothing of it. Just let me know when you're visiting the Golden State and I'm sure we can work that small debt off in no time.

After all, time stands still when you're being tickled senseless, no?

It's in the mail honeypie (you know, just like the check...) 😉 :jester:

Personaly i really enjoy being tickeled on my feet. When my X girl friend would tickle my feet alot i definatly did not feel as ticklish wich made it not as fun. she would change spots to keep ti from happening. I could tickle her all day thoguh in the same spot and she would enjoy herself the whole time wiht no lose in sensation, so i guess it just depends on the person. I always like being tied down first and then being tickled in random places to keep the enjoyment up.

I think it depends on the intensity you use on such spot. The key is variety, and change. If you change speeds, intensity, tools, etc, you can keep em' laughing. If no change is made, the lee gets bored quick
