First of all Ticklephile sounds like somebody who fucks around with kids, I know thats a pedophile but it sound close enough to freak me out. I was doing so research for a new story and I've discovered that the proper term for being "Tickle Phobic" is actually Titillophobic (or Titillophobic) so I would like to be called a Titillophobic. It comes from the latin word for tickle (titivate) with the word phobia added on. So there you have titillophobia.

So I am a Titillomaniac not a ticklephile.

But I'm confused about a few things. Ticklephile doesn't inherently make me think about someone fucking around with kids, as it's the Paedo-part of the word "Paedophile" that refers to children. Phile comes from the ancient Greek "Phillia", which translates usually to "Lust".

Second of all, why call yourself either? If I ever make reference to this fetish, I simply say; "I'm a kinky bastard - I love tickling and being tickled". Referring to it via a single, pseudoscientific name makes it seem like some sort of condition.

Given that "phile" means "one who loves" (including the fact that an Anglophile is one who love everybody and everything British), I think it's unfortunate that the word for a sexual predator who goes after children is "pedophile," because it confuses love with predation, and there is clearly no connection.

For one who loves tickling, why not titillophile?
