I was going to post this in the general discussion forum, but didn't see a place for it so that's why it's here. Anyway, I have a question for the people here. Me being an older guy, I see so much ink on the younger people now, it blows my mind. I'm not opposed to it in general, but my god, it seems to be getting out of hand. People seem intent on covering their entire bodies anymore! When I see a beautiful young lady with half her body covered in ink, it is an instant turn off! And I have a tat, too. ONE! And it took me about 5 years to decide to do it. My thought was that it's permanent and I wanted to make sure there were no regrets. And to this day, there isn't! I may or may not get another one, but I haven't decided yet.
What make me laugh is thinking how these gals will be feeling about their bodies full of them will be looked upon when they're 70 years old. I can see it now... "Hey Kaitlyn and Alexis, pull my skin on my arm tight and look at my tat on my bicep! Pretty cool, huh? Well, once you get all the wrinkles out..." :laughhard: :rowfull:

Tattoos make one unique... just like everyone else.

If not for the thought that one day my bloody blood might be needed by a loved one...

BTW, some tats really look good! By the time one becomes 70, maybe it doesn't matter, unless he/she settles for good at Marigold Hotel... 😀 😀

Personally I find them distasteful and unattractive. I cannot understand why an individual would want to graphitti their body like a wall in a bad neighborhood, yuck!!!

I'm sure those women will all be horrified when they find out that you personally don't find them attractive. Also, you're right, tattoos always look terrible when you get old.

To me, tattoos can be very attractive, or neutral, or hideous. It depends on the actual drawing.
PS: I have none myself, nor any piercings[sup]*[/sup]

[sup]*[/sup]If you want to discuss piercings, start a new thread, don't hijack this one.

I'm an older guy and use to feel as the OT. And I still think it can become way too much, esp if the tats are very colorful. And what about when it goes out of fashion?

But as with clothes and shoes etc it depends a lot of the person being able to "carry" them. To be blunt, the more non-trashy her appearance and personality is, the better she can carry a tattoo, and it can then add some spice.

I have 3- all of which are on my back, able to be covered. They mean a lot to me- I didn't get things that were "in style", I got things that I felt represented things to me. I have 2 I got when my dad died and 1 I got that more represents me and my husband. Honesty, I don't care if people think it's trashy- they're important to me and that's what matters.

This is what I think is being overlooked when the younger folks are getting them today. It seems like they are getting them because they are "cool" or maybe they're just addicted to ink. I don't know. It's their bodies. They can do what they want. I'm just saying when they're covered with them, it's a big turnoff to me. (Not that a young girl is going to care what I think!) I guess it's just the generation gap here...

A few tats are ok, but people insist on being freaks nowadays. its the continuing decay of society nowadays.

I love when people talk about the tats looking horrible when one turns old. Was the rest of you gonna be in that great of shape by then either? lol

Most people get tattoos for personal reasons, accomplishment, life changes, honoring the death of a loved one. It's not really for others to dissect, understand or even accept. Tattoos are nothing new and maybe that's why you recognize them more now. Or maybe since there are so many younger generations (since you got older) there are more people to modify their bodies.

Why someone elses' appearance causes such a reaction in others I'll never know, but it is very telling about mindsets, that's for sure.

How dare you not base your appearance on my sensibilities.

I'm an older guy to. I try not to be judgmental. They'er not hurting me if they have them, but I agree that it's a turn off for me.
One thing to remember about them. Someday you may change the way you feel about what ever the subject of the tattoo is.
