Is it just me or is poking deadly?

I think poking in unexpected time on my sides/hips is more deadly than just tickling. When my friends randomly poke me on my sides I go crazy. Any one agree?

Indeed. If someone pokes me multiple times but not too hard, it tickles like crazy.

Most of the time for me it's more painful than ticklish because most people can't do it right.

Poking can have wonderful ticklish impact but is not appropriate for all social situations.

Yeah, well-targeted poking can be devastating -- one or two well-aimed fingers can elicit wildly disproportionate twitching and yelping from me -- which of course is embarrassing and (worse) greatly entertaining to everyone in attendance, inviting mortifying group commentary on my level of ticklishness and/or further pokings until I twist and squirm away.

I've actually found that some people in platonic, vanilla settings are likely to use poking as a socially acceptable gateway to tickling, a test case, a firing across the bow -- it's not inappropriate for friends, friendly acquaintances, or even friendly professional colleagues to give one another a gentle poke to punctuate a moment of joking or teasing, and then if that poke sets off ticklish fireworks, as in my case, future ticklings often follow...

It's not more deadly for me than being tickled, but it can be a surprise and tickle a LOT! Especially at an inopportune time.. aah *blush*

Like many others said, if you can find the right speed and pressure it can be super effective. It's definitely easy to screw up, though.

I'm with Wade on this one. Hubby'll "entertain" himself by poking my sides when we're in line at Walmart. I look like the guy in Crank 2, who has the full body Tourette Syndrome, as I'm yelping softly.

Poking the sides of my boobs and my armpits would send me in a frenzy so yes I agree it's very deadly.

I am not a an of being poked due to having awful experiences with people poking me WAY too hard and it causing pain. Especially in the neck. What's up with that? I don't know about everyone else, but I get absolutely no enjoyment from being poked in the jugular. Now the ribs and thighs I can handle a bit better, but stay away from my throat lol.
