I tried to tickle my dog. Haha...I'm crazy! The only place she seems to be ticklish is on her paws if I do it really lightly. She starts shaking and pulling it away, but does that mean she's ticklish? Or are animals just not ticklish in general?

Addie, based upon past experience, and from what I've read on here, I think animals and dogs are ticklish. I used to tickle my dog's tummy, and she seemed to be ticklish. I think I got her paws a couple of times too, and she seemed to move them like a girl with ticklish feet would.
This was a long time ago, but, based on what I recall, animals can be ticklish.

Sorry, don't mean to hurt anyones feelings here but when you get down to it....

Couldn't tell you for sure. But, every animal I have ever known hates when I touch their paws. Shadow gets pissed and will beat the shit out of me for it.

We don't like him when he's angry.

Put that thing in bondage and post WMV. Good God man you found an untapped market.

If joeshushu were asking this, I'd have been tempted to answer "mu" and walk away. 🙂 (Anyone who gets that reference deserves a keisaku to the head.)

But the consensus wisdom would be "no". It is believed that only higher order primates and humans have a true "tickling" response. I don't know that I hold with the consensus on that matter, but whatever.

Wtf?

Yick! :xlime:
Ok, my doggie books tell ya to "teach puppy to get used to your touching his/her paws with loving, touching attention" so you can cut their CLAWS without him freaking...
He hated it at first but is getting better...I don't know if it tickled, I just think he wasn't used to anyone touching him there, being so young.
XOXO

My cat is ticklish he hates to be touched on his stomach he reacts as if he gets a ticklish chill then he bites. :cat:

I think Ive seen a study where chimps are ticklish and so are some rats so its not to far fetched to say dogs may be too.

Anyway, if you're asking if animals will make any sort of noise while they try to pull away if you tickle them, then no, I've never seen that. But they do seem to have a ticklish response, sometimes. Like with dogs, if you scratch them just the right way on their tummies, they'll start kicking like mad. If you did that lightly enough on a person, you could probably tease a laugh or two out of a person. Or if you brush your fingertips over their paws lightly enough, they'll jerk them away, sometimes offer you a strange look.

Though I believe in most cases it's just because the animal feels like it has a flea or some other critter crawling in their fur, and that's likely a generally unpleasant feeling for them. *Shrugs*

Thats what I'm here for 😀

I adopted a kitten a few weeks ago, Kismet, about 3 months old now, and he seems ticklish on his belly. He likes to lay on his back and he'll bat gently at your hand if you dangle it over him, but if you wiggle your fingers lightly across his tummy he'll go crazy kicking at your hand, thrashing, biting and clawing (but never at "full power," not enough to hurt) and trying to get away. But he doesn't seem upset or angry about it thereafter... just wants it to stop. Sounds like tickling to me.

Not quite the same as human tickling but still pretty cute. I can't believe there wasn't a chapter about this in When Elephants Weep.

(The below isn't Kizz; I just thought it was funny.)
