Is this an officially recognized philosophy?

I'm just wondering if my worldview is similar to any officially recognized philosophy: nothing is worth fighting for, struggling for, striving for, suffering for, living for, dying for. I would give up all the possible good just to avoid any possible bad. I would give up the ability to feel anything at all ever again, just to never have to feel anything unpleasant ever again. If I have to take the bad with the good, I don't want either. And my view on life in general is: can we just get this over with? Is that similar to an officially recognized philosophy?

I agree with Redmage. It sounds like you might be suffering from clinical depression. You should seek out some professional mental health assistance.

I don't know anything about official philosophies, but I think that's a super depressing view. I mean, what's the point of even rolling out of bed? Getting hurt sucks - that's for sure - but for me, it's just part of the ride. You learn from it, and it helps you appreciate it when something amazing happens. Somebody here has the best quote ever in their sig - something about if you're never hurt or embarrassed, you've never taken any chances...or something like that. Yeah...I bastardized it. Somebody find it and save me LOL

Take it from a mentally challenged guy with bipolarism mixed with anti-social problems, get help. Life is worth living even when it doesn't seem it.

I had post traumatic stress disorder and had that same sort of mindset. I had a death wish that no one should have. You can self destruct and hurt others. I was heavy into drugs and literally lost everything. I do not reccomend pyschatrists easily, as I hate most of them, but you need help before you do something you or others could regret. Take it from someone who has walked down the path, you do not want to hurt anyone, including yourself.

Wouldn't call it a recognized philosophy, but I've been there and am in there. Sometimes life just beats the crap outta you and there's no breaks inbetween. Just seems like one battle after another nonstop; it depresses the living hell out of you. It makes you not want to bother getting out of bed because there's just another wad of crap waiting for you with a side order of garbage.

I wish life would treat us better and cut a break sometimes because the warrior in me has bruises, scars, and chinked armor. I could sure use some rest.

In the meantime, I just keep living; eventually change will come along with better times. It's just times like these just blow the wind right out of my sails. Know you're not alone and please follow what the posters are saying and get yourself some help. It's okay to visit the darkness; most of us have. It's not okay to live there.

Sometimes all you need is someone to talk to. Whether it be a close friend, s/o or a paid professional. Who is up to you.

I'm kinda stuck in the same mindset, but I recognize that things will get better, and soon.

But I also know that you can't appreciate the good without the bad, you have to travel up the steep hills, and sometimes fall along the way, to catch the view at the top and start making the "easier" journey towards where you want to be ahead.

:flatstare:

Sometimes life is rough. Personally, Sapphire and I have been having some serious issues with life in that every time things start getting good, something seriously fucked up happens to bring the mood down.

lol, just saw this by chance.
guess you must be referring to my sig line. And you did pretty well, btw 🙂
Glad you like it. I do believe in that from the bottom of my heart.

Something is always for fighting for, although that fighting doesn't necessarily mean war or violence. Love, pride, self esteem, hope, goals, are all things worth struggling for, worth surviving for, worth fighting for. Its usually an uphill battle with many losses, downfalls, pain, misery and the like, but even with all that the good does out way the bad when its pure and honest.

To quote a great movie:

"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies"

Is that similar to an officially recognized philosophy?

No. Quite the opposite.
EVERYTHING WORTHWHILE is worth fighting for, struggling for, striving for, suffering for, living for, dying for.
XOXO

I don't know if that is a philosophy, but as an attitude I would call it extreme apathy.

You should seek help for clinical depression if you feel that way.

Nihilist by nature are pessimist. lol

Never hang around a nihilist for too long or you'll end up SERIOUSLY contemplating your own demise...forget about the world. lol

Don't we all go through that just a bit....hmmm uhuh?!
