Does this count as non-consentual tickling?
A soldier in Iraq was gang tickled by his regiment at:
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=iazF-pbm-h4&feature=related
It reads: "in Iraq one of our guys Paul Malcolm Is very ticklish so we invented tickle time..."

Do you consider tickling like this OK or non-consentual?

Considering they seem to indicate they do this to him on a regular basis and it can be humiliating when posted on YouTube.
The soldier doesn't look like he's enjoying it and is screaming with laughter.

Are you supposed to ask permission before you tickle anyone?

Well, being a soldier in Iraq, I'd assume there's not a lot of girls out there, so I'd think this is the equivalent of dropping the soap in the shower at a prison. lol

If the person tells you to stop doing it and is clearly in distress, you stop doing it. If you still do it, that's the point where it's not okay.

Yes, yes it is non consensual, and probably done to embarrass the guy. Given that for 98% of the population tickling isn't inherently sexual, though, I wouldn't consider it as bad as you're under the impression it is.

That said a lot of people genuinely hate tickling a lot, so non-con tickling people who seriously don't want it is pretty fucked up, is what I guess the actual point you're trying to go for.

Speedbumb when your in jail taking a communal shower,,I thought you were supposed try very hard not to drop the soap, for fear of what might happen if you did (maybe soap-on-a-rope would help, IDK, I've never been in prison).

Concerning the soldier, it's complicated, on one hand there were so many hands and fingers restraining and tickling him and he was so ticklish and didn't seem to enjoy it at all, and putting all that up on YouTube for all to see must be really humiliating.
On the other, his ticklers seemed to behaving more playfully than maliciously.

As for the whole "no means no" argument:
Asking for permission each time you tickle someone kind of takes the fun and spontaneity out of it.
Doesn't every lee protest "no, stop, not there, I can't take it" etc. almost as a reflex.
However in my case I can instinctively tell if the lee hates it and in that case I stop (and others should also).
I wasn't there so I don't know.

Unless you have a negotiation with someone that tickling at any time is OK, the tickling is non-consentual

Yeah, the link didn't work for me either...

I think it's funny. It seemed to be done out of playfulness. Not a big deal.

Of course it was nonconsensual. We're the only freaks who actually consent to being tickled. In vanilla-land nonconsensual tickling isn't bad or a violation. It's just...tickling. That's how they do it out there.

Tickledorange-I think you have to seperate sexual tickling (the kind that we practice) versus regular vanilla tickling.
The latter is done spontaneously and there can be no prior negotiation.
As the above poster commented "that's how they do it out there"(vanilla-land)

Some people seem to believe that all tickling is inherently sexual, it isn't, not even for me.

posting the soldiers name on youtube like that is a serious offense! and yes it is non-con.

I agree! It didn't seem to be a big deal!!!

Depends. It can be bad or violating.

Giving someone water can be bad or violating too if you drown them in it. I think generally speaking vanilla tickling is pretty harmless. Of course arguments can be made that somebody somewhere was tickled above and beyond what would be considered playful and were traumatized and blah blah blah. But overall that tends to not be the case.

Non-con is never okay, imho.

You do know that the only people in the world to say, "Please tickle me" are us and 2 year olds, right? So does that mean all the rest of the tickling in the world is nonconsensual and thereby not okay? Come on...

If any of those soldiers were E-5 or above, I'd have captioned that video as "Noncon from a Noncom!" :laughhard: :bwahaha:

On a more serious note, I'm a fan of noncon, but I personally draw the line at m/m noncom. In my opinion, that's just wrong.
