Very good points Knox, and I agree with you that Buckner shouldn't be remembered only for that, because, it's true, his (at the time current) condition wasn't exactly top of the line. However, you hafta keep in mind that this sort of stuff just always seems to happen to the red sox...nothing major, just little things that people remember. Another team similar to it is the Cubs, and the famous fan who interfered w/ the ball last year in the playoffs. Was it the fan's actual fault? Of course not. That's just what Cubs fans will remember as having blown the game- and when you look at it, it really wasn't even a deciding factor! That's kinda what I was saying...I think i lost myself, but yeah....Also maybe along the lines of what we remember Clinton for. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but that's what people remember them for and that's it- forget any good that they do. Michael Jackson will be remembered for his music secondly....now it's his child rapist charges that i think will leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. So what I guess I am trying to say it that's just the way society works- very sad, but undeniable. It's not JUST boston fans who look only to someone's bad points. The fact is a routine act (a grounder or switching pitchers) was made, and someone blew it. Regardless of the reasons why, it happened, and we remember them for that mistake.
Anyways, I don't think Little was the worst manager ever and stuff, and neither do a lot of boston fans. We're not all bloodthirsty guys sitting three rows back w/ our shirts off yelling "you suck!" and "hit/catch the ball!" (yes, i stole that from the commercial, leave me alone
😉 ) However, my personal feeling is that he made a mistake leaving Pedro in, since he had relied on the bullpen for the entire season before that. Boston's bullpen does not, and did not, suck. He should have known it. My major problem with that decision was that he WASN'T a bad manager- he got us so far! I just feel that he made a mistake. im very passionate about that feeling (can you tell, lol?) I, personally, feel that if he had brought in the bullpen, we would not have lost game 7. But, who am I to say, ya know? He was a good manager, it's just i feel that that decision inparticular was a wrong one.
Dan Duquette...wow, lol, i almost completely forgot he even existed, lol....
I mean, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, so I guess we'll never know what could have happened. But that's the appeal of all sports, right? ya never know what's gonna happen....
Ok, that's more like....63 1/4 cents, right? (im such a dork sometimes) Sorry I rambled so much!!
