Seriously though, here is my take on the upcoming baseball season (for what it's worth IMHO). I think the Yankees starting will not be as strong with letting Pettite walk. That was a huge mistake on their part. Kevin Brown is like 10 years older with a history of back problems. If he is healthy (and it's a pretty big if) their pitching will be decent. I think Clemens stuck it to George with his signing in Houston. Personally, I wonder why. He has done it all. If they sign A Rod (which it looks like it's going to happen), their offense will be OK. I always said never to trade Sori, but I think there are some exceptions, and this is one of them.
I hate to burst the bubble of the Red Sox fans. If they don't do it this year, there gong to wait another 100 years. Granted they got Schilling, but he is 38 years old with a history of back trrouble as well. His durability is in question. Not to mention that Pedro is in the walk year of his contract (correct me if I'm wrong). They can't do it on offense alone.
Personally, I am hoping the Mets get better on offense with Cameron. Hopefully, he can get on base and give the batters behind him some more fastballs to sit on. I think their short relief is better so they won't blow as many leads as they did last year. the question I have is, who the hell is their closer????
Say, can I add to the bet that if Philly finishes ahead of the Mets also that Mitchell picks up the dinner tab?
