Today starts my first day of no more smoking..i will continue to take the chantix, however i could not deal with the nausea and smoking..so last night, i took out the remaining cigs, tore them into pieces, and threw them away..it's hard, very hard, but the worst time is in the early morning..but i'm sticking with it...my friend was unable to deal with the nausea, and is back smoking fifteen cigs a day..but not me..and hubby is going around singing, "Did you ever know that you're my hero" lol...

Thats great news,i knew you could do it!We are all so proud of you! :dogpile: :redheart:

Congrats Melanie. This is 1 of the biggest decisions and lifestyle choices
you will ever make. *Standing Ovation*
:cool2: :2poke: 🙂

Great Decision Mel!

Good for you! :bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou
I'll be sending healing spells to dissipate any lingering effects of addiction and strengthen your willpower every night. :wiseowl: :wavingguy :xpulcy:

Congrats!........I didn't know hubby could sing.........

thanks all....MasterTank please do...i get the craving especially in the morning, but am fighting it tooth and nail..

Kered..he can't lol...well actually yes he can, he used to sing in a band, along with playing the bass...what he cannot do at all is dance...and he stands in front of the fireplace, trying to do that one move with his arms...hm you know the move..where you move your arms in a circular motion in front of your body...a relatively simple move, unless you are david...hehe..

^^ Don't let his bad dancing drive you back to smoking again.....

Good thing. The nasty coffin nails just aren't worth the little fun they provide.

You'll have to live with a certain amount of craving every now and then for the rest of your life.. but it'll be a LOT better after a few weeks, and after about half a year, those are fleeting moments and easily controllable.
You'll also notice that your general health will improve.

Good job, Isabeau. Stick with it, we're all rooting for you. 😀

thanks all..it was sort of a hard day, but not really...i think i'll succeed very nicely on this...for a change...lol..

Izzy, congratulations, my good friend. I am happy for you that you decided to take this step. As I think I've posted on here before, my mom stopped smoking cold turkey on Father's Day, 2003, after a hospital visit, and a lung cancer scare. She was 65 then, and had been smoking for over 50 years. She said it was hell at first with the withdrawal. She never went to smokeenders, didnt use a patch, or anything, just gave it up. After the withdrawal period, of a month or so, she said that she never misses it, and doesnt think about it, over 3 1-2 years later, so it can be done. I wish you all the best with taking this step, and hope that it is a new beginning to your life.

Take care, and Good Luck,

Mitch

2 months

Congratulations,

I just quit smoking right after Thanksgiving. I take Wellbutrin and I used the patch for a week. I have tried to quit tons of times, but this time I was determined to make it last. I have only gained six pounds and I am working hard to take that off.
I have to say that the first two months were hell and I have to admire your husband's patience. I know I was very hard to deal with. I feel much better and stronger now and it really has become easier. I hardly ever think about it now. Supportive friends have made all the difference and it seems that you have plenty of those. Support came to me from the most unexpected places and I hope you have more than you need.....Good Luck

thanks everyone for being so supportive...i really reallly think i'll succeed..not that i have much choice, but wow...i am actually doing this...wtg me lol..it does help to have supportive friends...in fact i have this one friend who is very sick with the flu i think, yet says he will be there for me if i feel myself weakening...and of course i have david, who is so proud (drew i know, proud isn't the right word) of me..

Try SMOKE ENDERS

http://www.smokenders.com/

Isabeau, I never smoked but have heard several ex-smokers say the SMOKE ENDERS program did the job once and for all. So if cold turkey fails you, perhaps SMOKE ENDERS will be worth investigating. Good luck and let us know how you do.

i'm using chantix to help me...i haven't smoked a cigarette since saturday night...i will continue to take the chantix to the end of the program, which will be the end of march...thanks Em Es...i only get mid morning nausea now, and it quickly goes away...as long as i don't smoke, the nausea will abate..
