Just Something That Disturbes Me

As an operator, I get weird requests. So far, the only one that has rattled me (and is still bothering me, days later, is that somewhere in either Illinois or Michigan, there is a cemetary, (dont drink) called 'The Resurection Cemetary' Who the ^&$%^& names a cemetary Resurection?

Maybe the graveyard keeper comes in the middle of the night and revives a few people.

Probably a brand of humor that I don't find particulary funny.

There's a church called something like "The Church of the Resurrection" or something like that, so it might be a cemetary for a certain church.

It would seem more likely that this cemetary is named as an association to the Bibllical passage John 11:25, 26 in which Jesus says:

"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."

Just a guess, but since this is the most popular passage read by clergy at funerals, it may be the source.

Yea....

Resurrection Cemetary is haunted by Resurrection Mary. She actually haunts the streets around the cemetary. Her main thing is to get picked up as a hitchhiker and then she suddenly disappears while she is in the car with you. Also she is wearing a wedding dress at the time she is hitchhiking. I am not sure, but I believe she is the ghost of a girl who was run over, near the cemetary, on the day of her wedding. Also this cemetary is in Chicago.
And it would be Catholics who would name a cemetary, Resurrection Cemetary. The Resurrection is extremely important in our religion. I am sure it is a part of a lot of other Christian religions, but Catholics take this part of the story of Jesus to heart, as of course it confirms our belief in Christ's divinity. So that is who would call a cemetary, Resurrection Cemetary. The use of this name is not meant to be funny or ironic, not in the least.

Wowser-ooty! I want to hear about this, too! I have a 1 1/2 in. piece of his farmhouse hanging in my kitchen. Won it back in the good old days when Ebay didn't care what you sold on their site... all I got in comparison is the stupid 'grassy knoll' ....

Down the road from me there was a convenience store owned by some Indians. It's name - "Convenient Store". What a name that sticks in your head! In my hometown of Duncanville they have a new Chinese buffet named "New Asian Buffet". Not as good as the one on Lower Greenville Ave.: "The New Big Wong Seafood Restaurant"
