I only listen to Rap/ Hiphop before 1990. The new style is poor.

Yeah a lot of bash it - it depends of taste -. Many those who are into it can name the artists with no problem......
I can name one and one only without any problem : Cypress Hill 🙂

Alright. I'm just wondering how many of the people on here actually grew up listening to rap/hip hop. The previous question doesn't seem to have a viable fanbase on this website to respond to the question posed by navltklr. My knowledge goes back pretty far, but for the common folks (which I suspect visit this board) this genre of music wasn't listened to very much before the mid nineties, or was SEVERELY limited to whatever came on the radio or MTV from time to time. I'll start old first and work my way up to date. Anyway, here's my list:

"Passing Me By" Pharcyde
"Treat 'Em Like They Wanna Be Treated" Father MC
"Paper Thin" MC Lyte
"Lyte As A Rock" MC Lyte
"Ressurrection" Common (Sense...for those who remember when he first started)
"Ain't No Future In Your Frontin'" MC Breed
"Express Yourself" NWA
"I Got It Made" Special Ed
"Run's House" Run DMC
"Latifah's Law" Queen Latifah
"Brand New Funk" DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
"So Whatcha Want" Beastie Boys
"My Philosophy" BDP
"I Ain't No Joke" Eric B. & Rakim
"Night of the Living Bassheads" Public Enemy
"You Can Get With This" Black Sheep
"Runnin'" Pharcyde
"I Got You Open" Black Moon
"What A Borther Know" Style
"My Name Is D-Nice" D-Nice
"Soul Food" Goodie Mob
"Fugee-La" Fugees
"Beautiful Things" Bahamadia
"I Gotta" Master Ace
"Climax" Slum Village
"Hypnotic" The Roots
"Proceed" The Roots
"I Remain Calm" The Roots
"Left My Wallet In El Segundo" Tribe Called Quest
"Benita Applebum" Tribe Called Quest
"Electric Relaxation" Tribe Called Quest
"I Shot The Sherriff" EPMD
"You Got's To Chill" EPMD
"The Most Beautifullest Thing" Keith Murray
"I'll Be That" Red Man
"I Came To Bring The Pain" Method Man
"Time For Some Action" Eric Sermon
"Welcom" Eric Sermon
"Hey Young World" Slick Rick
"C.R.E.A.M." Wu Tang Clan
"A Million" Jay Z
"Hawaiian Sophie" Jazz (with Jay Z as the DJ, before he made it big)
"They Reminisce Over You" Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
"Treat 'Em Right" Chubb Rock
"I Work" Big Daddy Kane
"Work" Gangstarr
"Royalty" Gangstarr
"Words I Manifest" Gangstarr
"Good Mourning" Talib Kweli & DJ High Tek
"Love" Mos Def

...uh, I could go on. I haven't even gone into the present, really. But like someone said previously, most of the stuff now-a-day's is garbage...but there are some.

I'll let you relax your eyes now.

im not a big fan of rap,but im pretty aware of most of the new rap songs that are out, hear them on mtv and what not.

ahahahahahahahhahahahahah yall crazy. i got tonnnnnnnns of rap. only shit i listen to. then again im not an adult yet heh....peep my name, and LicksnTickles its just Bring Da Pain but Meth is tight holler
SHADYRECORDS

Well, I'm an adult, and I realize that Rap/hip hop (whichever you prefer to call it) may not a have the instrumentality of other musical genres, but it is just as creative, or have the potential to be (depending on the artist/producer, ofcourse). This is in rebuttal to Nessonite's comment.

And Xzibit...I see you peeped my list. Thanks for the correction....I was kinda listening to "Bring The Pain" in iTunes when I typed that one....kinda got lost in the song. You know what I mean? But I do listen to music (yes it is music) other than rap/hip hop.
