Kerry loses the battle (burn victim update)

It is with a mixture of sadness and relief (does this make me an awful person?) that Kerry, our burn victim from Hawaii, passed away over the weekend.

I was unaware there was a second victim until a friend told me.
To make things extra weird, I just learned she was a nurse at Sutter General (just down the street from me--she only moved to Hawaii about six years ago...) Talk about a small world...

Well, since the family and media have no qualms about revealing her identity, I guess I can't either. For the awful and sad update on this no-one-wins story, her local paper posted this story about the incident...

I am at a loss trying to find words to adiquately state the sheer perversity and wrongness of this whole sorrid affair. When reading the other thread I felt hope she'd be able to make it, but now....

Best one can hope for is a peaceful repose of all the souls involved and that justice is given to all parties.

As much of a relief it must be for her to be spared of the quality of life that she would have led if she survived, it must be gut wrenching for her husband. Good Lord, the hell he must be going through right now!!
