Kirlian photography - for those interested in auras and the psychic

For those who've never heard the term, this is a type of photograph that shows your "aura". Basically you sit in a chair with your hands resting on plates at either side and a current of, I think, electromagnetism, is passed through your body. I don't know how the rest of the process works, but the camera then is able to photograph these colours.

I had one of these done in the last year, so I thought I'd start a thread asking if anyone else had had one done. Does anyone fancy sharing the result here? I'll post my own one in a bit if the idea takes off.

If anyone is worried about showing their face on the forum it's easy enough to blur your face out with photo software that comes with Windows XP, leaving your colours easilly visible.

I've never heard of Kirlian photography, so I looked up some sites and pics on the web, and it looks fascinating. I'd like to see yours, BigJim, purely out of curiosity, though I admit I might make fun of it also. 😀

Apparently the way they work (just been reading up on it) is that the plate's current measures resistance and that is altered by mood as it stimulates chemical composition of the skin, your emotions and so on. This means it isn't directly taking a photo of your aura, but is picking up on on what it thinks your aura should look like based on the interpretation of the data. Sort of science trying to meet the weird half-way I guess.


Mine confused me a bit because you can’t actually see me in it, because the colours have occulted me. But this is it anyway…

You can see the broad, dark strip with white piping that was across the front of the polo shirt I was wearing and I think you can just make out my nose. Other than that I'm hidden, which means what?

I think this is WAY cool Jim! I'm planning a trip to New Hope (PA) with a friend soon and I'm betting I can get this done there. It's that kind of town. I'll keep you posted.

Unfortunately Kirlian Photograrphy is more a measure of residual moisture than measuring anyones aura or "life force". Place it in the realm of "Crop Circles", "Big Foot" and other such stuff. The pictures, I must say, are quite nice though, might be useful for artwork.

I don't think many people are under the illusion that it's actually photocopying your actual aura Kurch. I tend to think of it like the character of Rimmer on Red Dwarf, probably Britain's most sucessful sitcom. He was a hologram simulation of the dead Rimmer, not the actual Rimmer himself in spectral form.

I must find the breakdown of what mine means, which I've got stashed somewhere.

I think the point I was making is I doubt any civilization that can master interstellar space travel actuallly would use wheat to communicate to us. They only way I can see this happening is for them to be drunken Fraternity aliens who have stolen their Father's spaceship and are just looking for a good time. 😀 😀 😛

By the way I love Red Dwarf. I have to get the other dvd's in the set 😀 😀

Then again, perhaps they just have a rye sense of humor. Or else they've come to barley with us. (Frankly, I don't think there's a grain of truth in any of this.)

Personally I don't believe for a moment that crop circles are caused by aliens landing their ships in a field. I seriously doubt that they're all Doug & Dave jobs, but if the other causes are genuine, I don't see them being landing sites.

By the way I love Red Dwarf. I have to get the other dvd's in the set 😀 😀

I've got series 1-6 on DVD double packs and the series 1-3 re-mastered VHS videos. 7 and 8 will be out soon I believe on DVD, so that'll complete my collection! Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas!
