This may not sound too uncommon here, but I get VERY turned on when I'm tickled, normally within the first few seconds. Most times even just thinking about it can make me horny.. But why does that happen so quickly and strongly?
It turns out most people I know who have a tickling fetish pretty much fixate on only that. For some reason, psychologically it is extremely powerful.

So what do you guys think? Am I looking at this wrong, or is there something about tickling that completely outweighs any other "activity" in terms of personal preference.

Whether or not it completely outweighs any other "activity" in terms of personal preference probably varies from person to person. Speaking only for myself, I don't fixate totally on tickling as a lone "activity," but it is something that I have strongly enjoyed for a long time!

I used to be that way. Just hearing & seeing tickling would be enough to get me aroused.

However , I don't know if it's because of inundation of tickling media over the last few years or the engagement in a truly fulfilling relationship, but I don't get the intense sexual arousal with tickling I used to.

It's pretty well known that about 17 to 27is years are the ones of hormonal peak, mating wise. Yeah, we may very well be also desensitized given the amount of media this years, but still. Those years are pretty active years for our sexual instincts.
The reason I don't really know, but it's an attraction, I mean... as a man, it'll be the same as thinking of breasts or butts or whatever you're into, it'll obviously turn you very much on.

Tickling is not a "normal fetish", in that it is based on an object or material, like most others are.
It is instead based on an evolved social behavior (tickling). This has a significantly greater psychological influence over people due to the fact that ticklishness, and this behavior are biologically hard-wired into our brains.

First, thank you for this post, it is very interesting 🙂 Here is my own input on the matter, taken from my personal situation:

I really need to underscore the word "powerful", here. It never ceases to amaze me how much tickling features in my everyday life, thoughts and - naturally - fantasies. Vanilla porn interests me absolutely not for instance, as is the case for most people here. Also, like you mentioned, it is a huge turn-on. Like really, really big. A few seconds into tickling a girl is enough to elicit a raw wave of sexual arousal in me. It is still the same sensation that occurred when I first saw a piece of tickling art on a website for the first time, and did not decrease with age. What increased however is confidence, as did my ability to exercise control over myself in such situations.

I am also a sadist. I enjoy seeing women - only women - getting tortured, not necessarily with tickling. The effect is exactly similar, to the point that I sometimes wonder if it is tickling itself that I find arousing, or rather seeing a woman being broken. But not any form of torture would elicit the same excitement in me, just a select few that are not really on the gruesome side. Also, I would pick tickling as my favorite above any other form of torture, without hesitation. Strange, really, and I have no idea how all that interacts in my brain...

A few amateur statistics to further explore this point. My porn folder is roughly distributed as follows: 60% tickling contents (can be anything: artworks, photographs, videos...), 30% non-ticking torture, 10% beautiful girls, engaged in lesbian intercourse or featured in otherwise advantageous postures (most of them having in common to have their feet visible). It clearly appears from there that tickling is my main fantasy, but if we consider it in its torture aspect, then torture in the broad sense would be my real fantasy here with a whopping 90%! There is very little psychological research on tickling fetishism, Specificly.
And yet..... This particular kink seems to have a very unique effect on people more than any other paraphillia I have ever seen.

One reason for this ( and this is just my own idea), is that tickling is unlike most fetishes, because unlike feet, or latex, which tend to focus on objects, body parts, and / or materials.
But ticking is different, in that it is a social behavior that evolved along with us.

So, being turned on by something like that would have much more of a "profound" psychological effect on us. At least, I would estimate it should.

Yet, the word "tickle" has a strong effect on nearly everyone here. Which is ... Interesting.

Actually, it is funny you mention that because several years ago I went to look into scientific publications for a better understanding of my preferences... only to find out that almost no research has been done on that matter. Seems not much has changed since then. One thing that researchers seem to agree on is that tickling triggers two parts in our brain (I am no scientist, so please excuse the very unpolished way in which I present my point ^^): one that commands pleasure (even in those that are not aroused by it), and another one that triggers the defense mechanism in our body, like when we move our hand away after being burned. It may be that contraction that would induce arousal in us.

I also read that tickling children helps them develop some basic self-defense moves that would be necessary for survival, like playing catch or pretending to fight. Tickling would thus be evolution's incentive for self-preservation, alongside pain but not having the latter's traumatizing effects.

I really, really like your theory: tickling is not an object but a behavior, and a complex one to boot. I'd very much like to hear these ideas of yours, even if they have not been tested. Anyway, it is not like the "tickling research facilities" our beloved authors write and draw about will open anytime soon 😉
