Kobe Bryant Dead

Indeed 41 years old...and has 4 kids which is really beyond sad.
Always liked Kobe...even though he had a little bit of cocky to him I always felt like the guy was fun and had a great personality.

As a huge 1990s bulls fan, that pretty much exactly sums up my thoughts on him. It's always weird when someone like that passes. You grow up thinking they're kind of invincible.

unbelievable, i'm sitting here stunned, what a tragedy, what a loss. I hate helicopters.

Rest in peace, champ.

Great pics, Internet! Thanks for sharing them 🙂 He does have such a gorgeous family. The older two following in his athletic footsteps.

I guess he often travelled by helicopter? I can't imagine

I know. Helicopters always make me think of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Graham (greatest concert promoter of all time), and now Kobe. I'd never get in one. God, I hope it was quick and they felt no pain. 🙁

Cory Lidle...had to google him to remember his name. Yankee died in 2006 from a helicopter crash. I always remember it because I was a HUGE Mike & The Mad Dog listener and they literally got on him really bad in an interview the day before and the next day they got the news he died in a crash. I will never forget that.

I'm stunned, sickened, and saddened beyond words.

When I first saw it on TMZ, I was not sure if it was true.

As I was surfing through to other news pages, I saw that this tragedy had been confirmed.

Kobe is gone far, far too soon.

R.I. P. Kobe.

Awful awful news !!

I am in complete shock!!! I am a huge sports fan but was never a big basketball fan but you know the players and Kobe was one of those you know. Truly a devastated time for his family, the Lakers organization, his fans, Los Angeles and the sports world as a whole!! Rest in peace Kobe!

Oh my god. One of his daughters was with him. He was building an animation studio, he won an Academy Award a couple of years ago for an animated short, "Dear Basketball". Ugh. I'm sick to my stomach. He had so much to live for.

Horrible news. Just awful that he died so young. Rest In Peace, Kobe.

Good Lord!! Just unthinkable. Great talent and one hell of a basketball player. Gone way to soon.

Barbershopman

A cold blooded assassin on the court. Tremendous respect for him. RIP to Kobe, his daughter and the rest of those passengers. Very sad.

A transcendent, generational talent. Crazy that he is gone, alongside his daughter. Just awful news.

Ive gotten to know the Lidle family a bit the last 14 years. That was a stunning day.

Living here in SoCal, its tough to accuretlty describe what the city is feeling today. Its basically like we just lost the heart of the city. Kobe was larger then life and were hurting out here today.

in answer to another question, yes Kobe always travaled by helicopter.

I know it's a sports subforum and all, but Kobe Bryant transcends the sports section, this should have stayed in GD, don't you think? I don't remember any threads being moved in here when Ali passed away, for instance.

I do not know the first thing about the NBA. Believe it or not, I did not know who Kobe Bryant was before I moved to China in 2020. It was my Chinese friends who told me about him, among other NBA stars. There is a massive fandom around Kobe Bryant here, and his passing in this tragic accident is deeply felt among his many Chinese fans.

The magnitude of this tragedy notwithstanding, what I find the saddest is that his daughter died with him. This is so... unfair and depressing. I feel really sorry :sadcry:

The NBA postponed Tuesday night's game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers, both of whom play at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, and who occasionally play games against each other. The NBA and the teams stated that such was decided out of respect for those who lost their lives in the crash, and their families. I personally think such was the right decision. I believe that more time is needed to allow the Lakers, and the city of LA to absorb and mourn the loss.
