There's a little trick a doctor taught me years ago to help me cope with chronic pain. In it, I basicly focus on it and put it on a different level. Another alternative was to focus on another sensation I was experiencing at the same time. As a result, I generally have the automatic response of focusing on anything that isn't working. I don't even think about it. It just happens. I really have to struggle against that instinct sometimes in order to give in to and enjoy the tickling.
