I can see how this would happen because those few ( yes few compared to the overall numbers ) are loud , obnoxious at times , can be disrespectful at times and have a one track mind. Those mentioned are again in the minority yet have made people with a foot fetish look bad .

I think those individuals are probably pretty much jerks in real life and the anonymity of being able to hide behind a computer screen only adds fuel to the fire .

I think at times when a person admits here to having a foot fetish the generalization can be an automatic response .

But there are so many varients of why a person has a foot fetish it is downright foolish to lump them together under one floating generalization .

I give you an example of what I'm talking about .

I like a foot simply because I deem it attractive or pretty . For me its very much about that and tickling . I enjoy the look of barefeet with painted toes especially when they are well taken care . Its pretty much that simple for me.

There are so many subsets which absolutely do nothing for me such as pantyhose , dirty feet , licking feet or putting a persons foot in your mouth . If thats your thing then good for you ; all I am saying is different strokes for different folks and we shouldn't all be lumped together in one incredibly broad generalization . Because when that happens the multitude gets stuck carrying the negative conotation of the word foot fetish that only a few completely out of control idiots have branded the others with .

Basically it ultimately falls on the individual ; not all those with a foot fetish

Honestly, I hate having it because of the stigma attached. I was reluctant to post anything about it on Fetlife, because it doesn't seem like there's any way to convey that you have one without sounding like a perv.

It's also annoying when people presume they know what a foot fetishist likes. I mean, I couldn't care less about pictures of people's feet. I don't entirely understand it myself, except that a lot of it comes from a connection I have to the person whose feet I find attractive. I can admire a woman's feet in passing, but otherwise, I don't really care beyond that initial glance. As one of the main foot fetishists of the forum, I think it appropriate I chime in here.

As anyone who has spoken to me the last eight and a half years is aware, I've had a foot fetish since my age of reason. It came because of the whole thing of my relatives paying attention to my feet, due to the fact that I used to walk on my toes on my left foot, until having tendon surgery to fix it when I was nine.

I've learned the art of slyly glancing at female feet that I find attractive, without being noticed. I particularly love looking at the feet of the girl who cuts my hair. She's beautiful, from head to toes, and a nice person to boot. To me, her husband is the luckiest SOB on the planet.

Which brings me to how I will handle the whole "foot fetish" thing, when I get into a real life relationship again. To me, the idea of "I like female feet" would seem easier to say to a girl, then "I want to tie you up, and tickle you", especially to a vanilla. Feet.. is just a body part.. like breasts, ass, etc.

For the record, I would not be "creepy" about my foot fetish in any way. I visualize it happening as it has in the past. After I get to know a girl,. and become somewhat physical with her, I would visualize being open with her, and saying that I have had a female foot interest since my age of reason, and.. that I would hope she would be okay with.. during other sexual contact, having her feet massaged, smelled, kissed, touched, whatever. I've always felt feet discussion would come first, and tickling second.

If I met a girl who had all the qualities.. who was very ticklish. and afraid of heights, and didnt want to be tickled often.. or stand barefoot on ladders for me on a regular basis, I would likely be able to live with that, if she had all the other qualities I desired, personality wise. However, if I met someone who said "Mitch, you freak. You're a sick man for liking feet, tickling., etc". You can never, ever touch my feet.". Such a person, would not be someone I could remain with for the long term, because, that person would be completely depriving me of something I've liked since my age of reason.

Hopefully, this wont happen. I dont visualize asking a girl to kiss, smell, r massage, or tickle, her feet on the first date. Such would likely come when I got to know the person. In my view, physical intimacy takes time. I would be hopeful, that if a girl got to love me, for my qualities, that she would be okay with the fetish ideas,. as just part of the way to satisfy me physically, the way I would try to satisfy her.

I think there are three things that compound issues regarding the image of foot fetishism.

1) it's common enough to be well known but just different enough to be seen as weird

2) it involves a body part that is somewhat often seen bare in public yet still is clothed part of the time (providing the illusion to some pervs that asking for a foot pic is acceptable in normal conversations)

3) it's a part of the body often associated with dirtiness and smelliness, which aren't exactly things that turn on the majority

So, it's easy for people to get misconceptions about the foot fetish because of the annoying people who also happen to have this fetish.

The ratio of annoying foot fetishists to normal foot fetishists is probably the same as the ratio of normal people with any fetish to annoying ones. It's just that the annoying ones are vocal enough to give the rest a bad name, since ogling a girl's legs, for example, usually doesn't even require a request for a picture due to normal fashion.

The ogling factor remains probably the same for every body part fetish, but the prerequisite for creepy requests differs depending on how often the part is seen bare in normal pictures.
