First Id like to state that I did not write this essay, I disagree with certain things he said but I stand by the general premise.
Do those right-wingers keep yammering at you about the media's liberal bias? Well next time throw a little of this at them:
Mention that the longest running show on PBS is that liberal show Firing Line with that liberal William F. Buckley guy.
Mention that the Sunday PBS pundit show The McGlauglin Group is named and orchestrated by that liberal John McGlauglin guy.
Mention that the second largest media organization is America is owned and controlled by that liberal Rupert Murdoch guy.
Mention that the most listened to talk radio show in the world is from that liberal Rush Limbaugh guy.
Mention that the most listened to political commentary on the radio is that liberal Paul Harvey guy.
Mention that the magazine with the largest circulation in America --TV Guide -- is owned and controlled by that liberal Rupert Murdoch guy.
Mention that the daily newspaper with the top circulation in America is the liberal Wall Street Journal.
Mention that Newsweek's back page editorial 4 out of 5 times is from that liberal George Will guy.
Mention that ABC, CBS, NBC and their owners Disney, Westinghouse and General Electric are liberal corporations.
Mention that over 90% of the daily newspapers over the past 16 years endorsed such liberals as Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush and Dole for President.
Mention that you can't even turn a radio on the AM dial without hearing such liberals as Bob Grant, Gordon Liddy, Ken Hamblin, Michael Reagan, Armstrong Williams and Laura Schlessinger pushing their liberal bias.
And when you are done mentioning all that, look them squarely in the eye and ask what the problem is? Is it that they think you are stupid, or more likely, is it that they are stupid?
AM HATE RADIO
I heard today that more than twice as many conservatives listen to talk radio than do liberals (which I am sure the radio industry has been aware of for quite some time). Also keep in mind that people who call these shows are far more extreme in their views than those who do not. Even CSPAN which is as unbiased and unaligned as humanly possible gets about ten times as many calls from conservatives and libertarians than they do liberals or moderates. Another interesting indicator regarding the preponderance of right-wing loonies on the air is that there are so many of them; those wealthy enough to have nothing better to do and the millions of White Mongrols who sit unemployed in their trailers drinking beer and playing with their guns, so mad at the world, they find it imperative to let you and everyone else know just what ignorant little gits they are.
Put all these things together and you come to understand why, when you turn the AM dial during the day, you can go from the Rush Limbaugh, to Paul Harvey, to Gordon Liddy, to Oliver North, to Laura Schlessinger and the litany of local right-wingers leading in and out of the syndicated shows. It's a self perpetuating nightmare; the industry smells the dollars, caters to the right gaining the shows more listeners, more sponsors, more money and more PR causing the market to grow, which in turn gains more listeners, more sponsors... It's momentum swallows us, consuming more of the public and more of the media as it rolls us over.
I respect the liberal print medium for the work they do in journalism and investigative reporting, The Nation, Mother Jones and The Progressive all have their place, but they also do not hold a candle to the circulation of The American Spectator or The Limbaugh Letter ( having three times the circulation of those mentioned liberal magazines combined). The success of these magazines and these radio shows are of course based on name recognition and some degree of controversy; but the major reason for their success is that style themselves upon bombastic personality, humor, sound bites and above all, an entertainment value which liberals so seem to lack in either print or broadcasting.
I am dedicated to the concept that the in your face combativeness, humor, entertainment and fun leads to positively affecting the largest audience. And whether our purpose be pulling in money or pushing out ideology the larger the audience the better one does.
HOT TALK RADIO
"Who do we shoot? Other than Kennedy, Foley and Mitchell, the others are borderline traitors. They're the kingpins right now, besides the Slick One. You've got to get your ammo." Caller to the Chuck Baker radio show.
No, its not the Howard Stern shock-rock-radio but the next step down from the EIB Network, Right-wing/Libertarian patriot crap with the added dimension of irresponsible gun waving coupled with threats of armed revolution and murder to get the juices of hate and violence flowing even more throughout our society than it already is.
I noticed it for the first time here in Houston about a year ago but wasn't aware then it had a name. AM Hate Radio Talk show host Jon Mathews, who primes his gun squads up for Rush every morning, often has as his daily theme, arming ourselves in case it becomes necessary to violently overthrow the evil (liberal) government.
Most recently it came out full bore so to say on Mathews show when Harris County (which includes Houston) was forced by the State (who was forced by the Feds) to initiate auto emissions tests. The test sites were up and running and the $23 inspection (for two years) became a requirement to get plates. Other cities and states have had such inspections for years, but as they have state income taxes they are funded, not so here, this is a $11.50 a year tax! Stuff of revolution in Texas. Wearing gas masks is a far better solution to air pollution than a sawbuck a year paid to the damn govmint, which they say is really nothing more than a gang of stinking liberals stealing our hard earned money.
So Hot Talk Radio Houston took the issue to the people. Listening to the Mathews show fairly regularly, I don't think I ever heard the subject brought up without a subsequent reference to guns or the Second Amendment. This was now the issue of the year. The reason Streetsweepers and machine pistols are required attire by freedom loving Americans, the liberal govmint must be stopped by whatever means necessary.
The State Legislature was convened under special order and with caravan gun marches made to Austin and the Alamo, the whole thing was canned for the time being. I thought this gun waving madness was pretty much a facet of just Texas, but...

The oldest at the game is Bob Grant with a million listeners in the New York City rush hour. For years he has been calling Blacks; pygmies, savages, mutants, subhuman scum and even calls for their mandatory sterilization, but only recently has the gun waving begun. A caller who yelled, "I say to White people who are listening, its time to oil your guns," was roundly applauded by Grant.
And let's not forget Gordon Liddy (King of Hot Talk radio) who believes murder directed by the State is the high moral ground.
All over the West these Hot Talk shows are springing up. Chuck Baker, who often broadcasts from gun shops in Colorado Springs is perhaps the most well known. He whips up his barrelhead audience to form paramilitary units to go to Washington and "take out the slimeballs in congress." Organizers of hate groups come on his show talk of exterminating gays and complain about race mixing with Jews.
KSFO, in San Francisco, owned by the liberal ABC network, now touts it's 24 hour format as All Right All the Time, where hosts advocate lynching liberals and shooting immigrants for bounty.

OUR NATIONAL IRE
A very sad example of just how extreme the unfairness of the market driven political discourse in radio has become can be seen in a racial context. Less than 10% of African American voters vote Republican. As far as I can tell there are only four syndicated Black political radio hosts; Walter Williams (a Limbaugh substitute), Ken Hamblin, Armstrong Williams and Alan Keyes, all Republican right-wing lunatics who make Rush Limbaugh look like Tinkerbell.
The real fear over the land is of being laid off, of reduced income and of never owning or perhaps losing a home. The Right has won control over this nation by falsely translating those real fears into six false ones:
We are over taxed.
Crime is out of control.
Too many gun controls.
Immigration/affirmative action taking our jobs.
Public education has failed.
An evil socialist federal government is destroying our liberty.
We are the least taxed industrialized nation on Earth (total per capita average of 30%), we have more guns and less gun controls than anywhere, the crime rate has not changed more than 1% per 100,000 in over half a century (while even the violent crime rate has been going down in the last three), jobs are not being lost to immigration and affirmative action but rather because of corporate downsizing and moving labor offshore, discounting the War on Drugs, we have probably the least intrusive federal government in the world and our education problems come more from funding disparity and racism than anything else.
As it has always been, a job with enough income to see a home and a family is the very basis of the human endeavor. That dream is now lost to most, some due to events beyond our control; international economics, free trade and the intrinsic unemployment rate coupled to capitalism. But most of our problems are within -- our ability to affect corporations taking millions of jobs offshore, the endless downsizing, the war on collective bargaining, a penal system so punitive millions of individuals and families are forever destroyed by it, and the inequality of school funding.
The basis of this Right-wing Shitism upon the land is giving simple minded answers to a simple minded populace to very complicated questions, with of course, flag waving and Bible thumping at it's core. But they also got better organized, gained more funding, won ever more corporate control of the media, learned the public relations of telling the mob what they want to hear (the other guy is to blame) and the use of new technologies such as fax and modem. Much of the grassroots work has become easier and cheaper by pushing buttons rather than the labor and cost of mass mailings, telephone blitzes and knocking on doors.
The catalyst to why we are now the most conservative industrialized nation is mostly due to what too many people wish to ignore, the control of daytime radio by the far Right. This isn't the single voice of Father Couglin spewing his fascism an hour a week to a couple million people, but literally hundreds of Right-wing radio hosts shouting hate, bigotry, intolerance and gun waving madness 24 hours a day in many markets, day in and day out to tens of millions of listeners who have now become proud to call themselves Dittoheads, accepting as truth whatever it may be they wish to hear. It grows louder and stronger and more hateful as time passes, the numbers and money feeding it with no end in sight move enough voters that our nation has changed.
With this radio issue alone, I can find virtually no one who would like to see legislation to make it fair. Fairness has now become an un-American Activity. Whoever has the most money to gain the largest share wins.
The most prevalent answer I hear to this problem and the overall move to The Right is that the pendulum will swing back. Perhaps, but think hard of what happened in Germany during that wait. The parallels to the political propaganda are amazing. If you doubt that, tune in Rush Limbaugh any day you chose and replace the word Jew with Liberal and see how it sounds.
THE CORPORATION FOR PRIVATE CONSERVATIVE BROADCASTING
"I don't understand why they call it public broadcasting. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing public about it. It's an elitist enterprise. Rush Limbaugh is public broadcasting." Newt Gingrich
We all often complain about the absurdity of the phrase liberal bias media, especially when we think in the terms of print dailies and their 90% sponsorship of Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush and Dole, but some of us have it worse than others. In large urban areas there are often only choices between Conservative and Republican dailies, but in more and more cities we are having less and less options as one paper buys out the other.
Sure the New York Post is owned and operated by Newt's partner in power, Rupert Murdoch with an editorial staff off in Ollie-Ollie-Land, the Washington Times owned by His Mooness makes no bones about where they are at, or the daily with the largest circulation in America, The Wall Street Journal and it's full tilt conservative spin makes no apologies, but all those papers are in areas where people have choices to read something else. But people in our heartland with small cities and towns have no such luck, many filled with Right-wing Religious bias from front to back and are the only show in town.
Many people in those areas of America do have at least one alternative to that daily dose of right-wing propaganda with NPR and PBS, but not for long. This is not one of those areas were reason, the Senate, or the Veto Pen can do anything, Gingrich, intends to destroy the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through his power as Speaker to keep any funding of commercial free media from the House floor. Remember this is about only two things, allowing Rupert Murdoch to buy up the failed licenses of the small public radio and television stations who can not manage on their own, and to push the button of right-wing ideology over the common good.
BITCH HUNT
The bitch hunts were the main stories the summer of '95, the Religious Right won over Jane Roe, the conservatives got Shannon Faulkner, and though the Right-wing missed getting Janet Reno, they are still doing a wonderful job demonizing Hillary Clinton.
Be sure to understand that the Whitewater (Nadagate) hearings have indeed veered from the valid issue of it's cause, S & L deregulation and the resulting abuses up and down the line; to the charge that Hillary Clinton covered up a 17 year old bad business deal with the inference that she was involved in the murder of Vince Foster. The premise is based on political hatred of such degree that neurotic delusions are now the basis of Republican committee inquiries. The purpose of Nadagate is to impeach the President of the United States and if that fails, to at least destroy him through his wife. And it's working to some extent. They have control of the Supreme Court, the House, the Senate, AM radio and are now bringing that same sick propaganda into congressional hearings and all over television and cyberspace. Now connect this to the Communications bill which allows the richest most conservative individuals in the world (not just America) to buy, with their ready cash, 35% each of the entire media market in America. What's to keep Adolph Coors and Pat Robertson to buy up the 65% Rupert Murdoch can't? Not a thing...
SEX OR VIOLENCE
It is an or question coming soon to your TV. The defacto teacher/parent for most children is in for some changes soon. PBS will lose so much federal money they will be forced to displace programming with more on the air fund-raising and possibly causing you to have to go buy a larger mailbox. Deregulation will cause cable rates to go up with requirements for substantial children programming axed. If Big Bird is still around he may be hawking Remmington and Westinghouse.
Probably the most noticeable change will be the decrease in sexual content with a subsequent increase in violence. The industry knows those two things sell the most twinkies, and as the GOP committees begin to censor sexual content, networks will be forced to replace it with more violence.
I have a commercial pilot friend on the European run who often talks about prime time TV over there. Public service ads showing a woman's hands putting a condom on a real penis, game shows where housewives strip for prizes, boobs and butts and full frontal nudity wherever you turn, while they censor violence in both television and movies. But here in America we are a lot wiser than that, sex is bad, violence is good; so to make up for the ratings lost in less sex, we will be seeing quite a bit more shows of people with big guns in cars, trains, planes, on horses and on foot chasing and shooting at other people running away from them in cars, trains, planes, on horses and on foot with big guns. And the countries that censor the violence and not the sex, in magnitudes have less violence and unwanted pregnancies than those who do it the other way around. This parochial nitwit nation of ours needs a lobotomy.
INTELLIGENT AMERICAN PUBLIC MY ASS
Rush says the worst thing about liberals is that they think the American people are stupid. Rush is wrong, liberals know the American people are stupid, it's just not wise for any of them looking for a vote or a buck to say so. Studies show 10% of Americans are illiterate and as many as 35% functionally so. A recent study compared what Americans knew about history and current events to the rest of the industrialized world and we came in last in every category except entertainment and sports trivia, in some areas in magnitudes less knowledgeable.
The American people are blaming the news media today for trial by television in the Simpson case as they gobble it up in numbers as never before. They cry about meaningless soundbites and negative campaigning as they slop it up with a ladle. They moan about violence on TV as they tune it in by the clip full. They cry about the special interests, PACS, and lobbyists as they send their money to special interests, PACS and lobbyists. They moan and groan about the damn govmint and run to it with their hands out when anyone sneezes. They scream about the criminal justice system while refusing to do a damn thing about it other than building more jails and buying more potassium chloride. They whine about political correctness on campus where people are scolded for their intolerant attitudes while they throw those in jail those who say what they happen to not like hearing. Intelligent American public my ass.
PENISES, SEMEN, MURDER AND DOGS
Summer had changed forever this year for Rack. Now with school out and the older one capable of a marginal degree of responsibility, she could watch the little one without leaving marks. This meant they were both home all day while Rack tried to run his various pro bono businesses. Not only did he now spend most of his day as arbitrator, cook and recipient of seven godzillion stupid questions, but as they both got to stay up a few hours later each night (no school) his rug-ratobia was heightening. In fact it was so bad, he had just got off the phone to a friend over at NASA to see if there was any call for doing tests on children in orbit.
Not even a month into it and he was barking more than the dog. He was also in trouble with Flower over that old beast. The dog was overdue for put down. For the past 14 years it had done nothing but bestow a slobbering degree of enthusiastic love, smiles and optimism upon the family without a bitch or an unkind word (to anyone, ever), Rack had begun tossing it a chuck roast every night rather than the usual bowl of brown rocks.
Rack was pounding on the keyboard so hard his fingers bled. "How long can I use these same words" he mumbled to himself as intolerant, callous, selfish, right-wing, bigot, barrelheads flowed across the screen for the twentieth time that day. "Over used clichés," he admitted to the monitor, "but so utterly true, it's gotta be said. Perhaps in some future millennium it may get through."
"Dad, why did the President show that lady his penis?" The big one interrupted his key slapping. Rack looked up to see Pat Robertson and Paula Jones on the tube.
"Give me that clicker. Come on. Bring it here." He snapped over to CSPAN to get a dose of congress and told the kids to leave it on, if they didn't like it they could always do something they hadn't done yet this summer, go outside.
Once again lost in redundant name calling he was interrupted. "What's semen Dad?"
Rack looked up to see Dan Burton (R-Indiania), one of the endless stream of intolerant, callous, selfish, right-wing bigoted barrelheads talk about how the dead Vince Foster had semen all over his underwear after the suicide. "Here's the damn clicker, change it yourself." He gave in.
Typing away, making macro commands for Christianazi and Conservanazi, she did it again.
"Who did the President murder anyway?"
"Oh Gosh... Who is that, Falwell. Damn. Okay give me that thing dammit." Rack searched the channels for something more acceptable to the 6 to 12 year old audience.
"There, now leave it on this station, it's far better than any of that crap you've been watching." Rack went back to the keyboard listening to the more acceptable dialogs. "Hehehe, cool Beavis. Hey Butthead, this sucks. Hehe". Not one embarrassing or stupid question in half an hour and everyone was smiling along with the dog.
ATTENTION LIMBICILES
Are you sick of the same old communist liberal point of view in your news and information?
Are you tired of hearing endless discussions explaining the points of view ofpeople unlike you?
Does thinking for yourself make your brain hurt?
Then tune in AM radio in the middle of any weekday and let Rush Limbaugh do your thinking for you! Save your mind for heavy conservative intellectual pursuits like thinking about your tax money and how all your guns work! HINT: Bullets go in one end and come out real fast the other end.
Hear just one side of each and every story, the only side! Rush knows what is most important to you! You, your family, your schools, your moral standards and most importantly, your tax money. Everything else is just so much crap! The poor, the homeless, minorities, immigrants, foreigners, environmentalists, feminists, homosexuals and liberals are your enemy, all they want is to take what you got.
These Liberals, with an endless stream of sexually active lazy bums must be held at bay. Call or write the NRA or attend any local gun show and they will help you amass a weapons cache full of Teflon bullets, auto/switches, silencers and machine guns rivaling any religious cult to do the job!
Tune in the EIB network and realize that you are not the only one who doesn't give a rat's ass about a bunch of worthless minorities and homosexuals living around downtown somewhere, yet alone ignorant black and brown NON-Christians on the other side of the world. Get serious!
Not only don't we care, we are proud as Hell we don't care! we are not them, we are REAL AMERICANS who are damn sick and tired of being forced to share what we worked hard for with anyone, anywhere, at anytime, EVER!
THE OTHER GUY CAN GO TO HELL
THE PIG
There are literally millions of conservanazis in this country; proud, callous, selfish, repulsive bigots in their own right, but only one stands above the rest to earn the moniker "The Pig".
There should never be any guilt or embarrassment associated with calling Rush Limbaugh a pig, for that is just what he is. Please understand that we call him this not because of his obesity, pinkish pallor, beady little close together eyes and turned up snout (though these factors do help in defining just which bovine to compare him with) but solely on the grounds of the nature of his rhetoric.
There is little problem with this pig doing his daily dose of Negro bashing, Gay bashing, Women bashing, Indian bashing, Liberal bashing, Environmentalist bashing, or the raw unbridled hatred he expresses three and a half hours a day toward the President and his wife, for after all, that hatred is what Conservatives are most about.
There is also little problem in him disallowing the airing of any opposition to anything he says; totalitarian fascism is also so indicative of the conservative mindset that he should not be castigated for just doing his job. But Rush goes beyond the standard fare of hate directed at the enemies of conservatives - the loathsome do-gooders and the dreaded other -- by delving into a realm of sleaze and unfairness seldom witnessed outside the pages of the American Spectator. There are four categories which define Rush Limbaugh as a pig. These all concern attacking those who are unable to defend themselves.
ANIMALS - This has been one of his mainstays from the start. From the glee he takes in telling the story of killing the mouse in his garbage can, to the joy he took when a shark devoured a sea otter in front of a group of California school children who had found it wounded, helped and released it. From the laughing satisfaction he gets from his soundtrack of farm animals being shot and slaughtered to Andy William's Born Free, to his seething hatred of Spotted Owls, whales and any other endangered species. From calling fellow Americans to search out beavers and kill as many as possible because they destroy trees to his never-ending dialogs of how worthless and stupid animals are. Ah, debating animals Rush, what a brave man you are.
THE HOMELESS - This has also been one of his long running themes. Not only making crude and obnoxious fun of the homeless, but always referring to them as drug addicts, drunks and worthless lazy bums when in reality the majority of them are women, children and the mentally disturbed, whom people like Rush so proudly refuse to help through any program at all. The homeless have nothing, the ultimate have-nots without a voice or even a radio to hear what's being said of them. Ah, bashing people living in cardboard boxes Rush, what a brave man you are.
LITTLE GIRLS - This is perhaps the low point in this pig's career. On his nightly television show he was flashing up pictures of White House happenings and said here comes a picture of the White House dog; up popped the poorest picture he could find of 13 year old Chelsea Clinton with braces glittering. He blamed it on a technical mistake. I am sure most of the his mindless moron viewers actually believed him. It was the height of piggyness. Ah, calling adolescent little girls dogs because you hate their parents Rush, what a brave man you are.
THE DEAD - This one is truly disgusting and often the thrust of his rhetoric. First it was his playing of part of a speech by John F. Kennedy which decries high tax rates. He plays it over and over again, commenting that JFK is a Rush Limbaugh "Dittohead", a friend of Rush Limbaugh's who if alive today would be a conservative sitting next to and honoring Rush Limbaugh. On and on and on, JFK the enemy of liberal democrats, JFK the conservative who hates taxes and social programs. Then later the same game with Martin Luther King who he falsely claims would be against Affirmative Action. Ah, debating the dead Rush, what a brave man you are.
Though Rush is a pig, deserves the name, and no one should feel even the slightest pang of guilt in calling his mother to tell her so, there is a semantic conundrum in this game of name-calling.
I apologize to all swine, hogs, pigs and bovines whether domestic or foreign, young or old, in houses or homeless, with braces or without, alive or dead.

CSPAN VISITS THE PIG STY
CSPAN went into the EIB studios to film The Rush Limbaugh Radio Show. Here is a transcribed clip.
[Said Bo Snerdly] "... and they showed clips of your favorite female talk show host."
"My favorite? Which one? Who? Sally? Hang on everyone out there. Bo, could you go to my office and get that Time cover with the 5000 year old Ice Man on it? Come here Bo." [Mr. Snerdly comes on camera so Rush can show he has a Black working for him.] "This is Bo Snerdly, who screens our callers and a proud member of the NAACP!" [Bo looks at the camera and shouts] "NOT!" [Then walks off camera to comply with Limbaugh's command while Rush's goes into a monologue]
The female jurors in the Menendenz case fell in love with one of the brothers and felt sorry for him. [Rush does his whiny squeaky Liberal voice making fun of compassion] "Get women off juries! The best way is to take the vote away from them so they are out of the jury pool! I said that a few times last week and everyone assumed I was serious."
[TIME cover arrives. Rush holds it up and asks CSPAN cameras to zoom in on the hollow-eyed decomposed face] This is the issue TIME was suppose to feature ME, RUSH LIMBAUGH on the cover, but they put this picture of Sally Jesse Rapheal on instead. This is just what Sally Jesse Raphel looks like without makeup! [He loves it and laughs and giggles and plays it hard for CSPAN]
An hour later a woman calls saying that though she agrees with most of what Rush says, she has a problem with his personal ad hominem attacks. Rush denies making ad hominem attacks using the standard tool of right-wing hosts, "Give me a specific example; who, when, where, and what exactly did I say." Many viewers were probably yelling at the TV, "LADY! LADY! AN HOUR AGO! RIGHT HERE HE DID IT! GET HIM! GET HIM!" But she must have only just tuned in, and like most callers, could only generalize giving Limbaugh another semantic win.
SPEAKING OF PIGSHIT
Rush often denies he makes personal attacks, here are a few I picked up recently just to make sure everyone understands what a pathological liar the pig is:

FARTS
The once top conservanazi in the House of Representatives, B1 Bob Dornan took to the Well in Clinton’s first year to scream at the Pentagon and Defense Secretary Les Aspin for not having The Rush Limbaugh Show broadcast 3 hours a day in 132 countries on Armed Forces Radio Telecasting System. Dornan said that not only was the Clinton administration censoring Mr. Limbaugh by not carrying the show, but doing so to protect Clinton's socialist immoral agenda. 69 other right-wing looney congressman agreed.
In a survey of 50,000 AFRTS radio listeners at the time; 95.9% said they wanted more sports and music, 3.9% said they would like more talk shows while only .2% asked for the Rush show specifically. Pentagon officials have said, "it is possible to get Rush on AFRTS if a program that reasonably balances his point of view can be found." A few days later Secretary of Defense Les Aspin buckled under to the request -- went over the head of the Pentagon -- and Rush has made it onto AFRTS with no plan of equal response. A week later Aspen was fired. Good!
I guess Dornan and his pack of weasels didn't think there was enough hatred directed at homosexuals in the military, after all, there are only a few soldiers going berserk and murdering gays each year, why not get that up to a few hundred a year? And of course, our soldiers must hear at least a few hours a day that their Commander-in-Chief is a yellow coward draft-dodging lying, fornicating adulterous socialist with a Marxist bull dyke wife and a thirteen year old daughter who is a dog. After all, how can our military be expected to perform as an effective fighting force without someone on the radio pandering to all that intolerance and bigotry already endemic in the institution?
The name calling and insults directed toward the President will also generate not quite a few in the military to refuse to follow the orders of a yellow coward draft dodging Commander-in-Chief. Perhaps the hate mongering will be so effective that a few of the unstable killers in the military will lay off the homosexuals and go gunning for the President. Which more and more people are coming to believe just may be Limbaugh's purpose.

Mention that the Sunday PBS pundit show The McGlauglin Group is named and orchestrated by that liberal John McGlauglin guy.
Mention that the second largest media organization is America is owned and controlled by that liberal Rupert Murdoch guy.
Mention that the most listened to talk radio show in the world is from that liberal Rush Limbaugh guy.
Mention that the most listened to political commentary on the radio is that liberal Paul Harvey guy.
Mention that the magazine with the largest circulation in America --TV Guide -- is owned and controlled by that liberal Rupert Murdoch guy.
Mention that the daily newspaper with the top circulation in America is the liberal Wall Street Journal.
Mention that Newsweek's back page editorial 4 out of 5 times is from that liberal George Will guy.
Mention that ABC, CBS, NBC and their owners Disney, Westinghouse and General Electric are liberal corporations.
Mention that over 90% of the daily newspapers over the past 16 years endorsed such liberals as Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush and Dole for President.
Mention that you can't even turn a radio on the AM dial without hearing such liberals as Bob Grant, Gordon Liddy, Ken Hamblin, Michael Reagan, Armstrong Williams and Laura Schlessinger pushing their liberal bias.
And when you are done mentioning all that, look them squarely in the eye and ask what the problem is? Is it that they think you are stupid, or more likely, is it that they are stupid?
AM HATE RADIO
I heard today that more than twice as many conservatives listen to talk radio than do liberals (which I am sure the radio industry has been aware of for quite some time). Also keep in mind that people who call these shows are far more extreme in their views than those who do not. Even CSPAN which is as unbiased and unaligned as humanly possible gets about ten times as many calls from conservatives and libertarians than they do liberals or moderates. Another interesting indicator regarding the preponderance of right-wing loonies on the air is that there are so many of them; those wealthy enough to have nothing better to do and the millions of White Mongrols who sit unemployed in their trailers drinking beer and playing with their guns, so mad at the world, they find it imperative to let you and everyone else know just what ignorant little gits they are.
Put all these things together and you come to understand why, when you turn the AM dial during the day, you can go from the Rush Limbaugh, to Paul Harvey, to Gordon Liddy, to Oliver North, to Laura Schlessinger and the litany of local right-wingers leading in and out of the syndicated shows. It's a self perpetuating nightmare; the industry smells the dollars, caters to the right gaining the shows more listeners, more sponsors, more money and more PR causing the market to grow, which in turn gains more listeners, more sponsors... It's momentum swallows us, consuming more of the public and more of the media as it rolls us over.
I respect the liberal print medium for the work they do in journalism and investigative reporting, The Nation, Mother Jones and The Progressive all have their place, but they also do not hold a candle to the circulation of The American Spectator or The Limbaugh Letter ( having three times the circulation of those mentioned liberal magazines combined). The success of these magazines and these radio shows are of course based on name recognition and some degree of controversy; but the major reason for their success is that style themselves upon bombastic personality, humor, sound bites and above all, an entertainment value which liberals so seem to lack in either print or broadcasting.
I am dedicated to the concept that the in your face combativeness, humor, entertainment and fun leads to positively affecting the largest audience. And whether our purpose be pulling in money or pushing out ideology the larger the audience the better one does.
HOT TALK RADIO

No, its not the Howard Stern shock-rock-radio but the next step down from the EIB Network, Right-wing/Libertarian patriot crap with the added dimension of irresponsible gun waving coupled with threats of armed revolution and murder to get the juices of hate and violence flowing even more throughout our society than it already is.
I noticed it for the first time here in Houston about a year ago but wasn't aware then it had a name. AM Hate Radio Talk show host Jon Mathews, who primes his gun squads up for Rush every morning, often has as his daily theme, arming ourselves in case it becomes necessary to violently overthrow the evil (liberal) government.
Most recently it came out full bore so to say on Mathews show when Harris County (which includes Houston) was forced by the State (who was forced by the Feds) to initiate auto emissions tests. The test sites were up and running and the $23 inspection (for two years) became a requirement to get plates. Other cities and states have had such inspections for years, but as they have state income taxes they are funded, not so here, this is a $11.50 a year tax! Stuff of revolution in Texas. Wearing gas masks is a far better solution to air pollution than a sawbuck a year paid to the damn govmint, which they say is really nothing more than a gang of stinking liberals stealing our hard earned money.
So Hot Talk Radio Houston took the issue to the people. Listening to the Mathews show fairly regularly, I don't think I ever heard the subject brought up without a subsequent reference to guns or the Second Amendment. This was now the issue of the year. The reason Streetsweepers and machine pistols are required attire by freedom loving Americans, the liberal govmint must be stopped by whatever means necessary.
The State Legislature was convened under special order and with caravan gun marches made to Austin and the Alamo, the whole thing was canned for the time being. I thought this gun waving madness was pretty much a facet of just Texas, but...

The oldest at the game is Bob Grant with a million listeners in the New York City rush hour. For years he has been calling Blacks; pygmies, savages, mutants, subhuman scum and even calls for their mandatory sterilization, but only recently has the gun waving begun. A caller who yelled, "I say to White people who are listening, its time to oil your guns," was roundly applauded by Grant.
And let's not forget Gordon Liddy (King of Hot Talk radio) who believes murder directed by the State is the high moral ground.
All over the West these Hot Talk shows are springing up. Chuck Baker, who often broadcasts from gun shops in Colorado Springs is perhaps the most well known. He whips up his barrelhead audience to form paramilitary units to go to Washington and "take out the slimeballs in congress." Organizers of hate groups come on his show talk of exterminating gays and complain about race mixing with Jews.
KSFO, in San Francisco, owned by the liberal ABC network, now touts it's 24 hour format as All Right All the Time, where hosts advocate lynching liberals and shooting immigrants for bounty.

OUR NATIONAL IRE
A very sad example of just how extreme the unfairness of the market driven political discourse in radio has become can be seen in a racial context. Less than 10% of African American voters vote Republican. As far as I can tell there are only four syndicated Black political radio hosts; Walter Williams (a Limbaugh substitute), Ken Hamblin, Armstrong Williams and Alan Keyes, all Republican right-wing lunatics who make Rush Limbaugh look like Tinkerbell.
The real fear over the land is of being laid off, of reduced income and of never owning or perhaps losing a home. The Right has won control over this nation by falsely translating those real fears into six false ones:
We are over taxed.
Crime is out of control.
Too many gun controls.
Immigration/affirmative action taking our jobs.
Public education has failed.
An evil socialist federal government is destroying our liberty.
We are the least taxed industrialized nation on Earth (total per capita average of 30%), we have more guns and less gun controls than anywhere, the crime rate has not changed more than 1% per 100,000 in over half a century (while even the violent crime rate has been going down in the last three), jobs are not being lost to immigration and affirmative action but rather because of corporate downsizing and moving labor offshore, discounting the War on Drugs, we have probably the least intrusive federal government in the world and our education problems come more from funding disparity and racism than anything else.
As it has always been, a job with enough income to see a home and a family is the very basis of the human endeavor. That dream is now lost to most, some due to events beyond our control; international economics, free trade and the intrinsic unemployment rate coupled to capitalism. But most of our problems are within -- our ability to affect corporations taking millions of jobs offshore, the endless downsizing, the war on collective bargaining, a penal system so punitive millions of individuals and families are forever destroyed by it, and the inequality of school funding.
The basis of this Right-wing Shitism upon the land is giving simple minded answers to a simple minded populace to very complicated questions, with of course, flag waving and Bible thumping at it's core. But they also got better organized, gained more funding, won ever more corporate control of the media, learned the public relations of telling the mob what they want to hear (the other guy is to blame) and the use of new technologies such as fax and modem. Much of the grassroots work has become easier and cheaper by pushing buttons rather than the labor and cost of mass mailings, telephone blitzes and knocking on doors.
The catalyst to why we are now the most conservative industrialized nation is mostly due to what too many people wish to ignore, the control of daytime radio by the far Right. This isn't the single voice of Father Couglin spewing his fascism an hour a week to a couple million people, but literally hundreds of Right-wing radio hosts shouting hate, bigotry, intolerance and gun waving madness 24 hours a day in many markets, day in and day out to tens of millions of listeners who have now become proud to call themselves Dittoheads, accepting as truth whatever it may be they wish to hear. It grows louder and stronger and more hateful as time passes, the numbers and money feeding it with no end in sight move enough voters that our nation has changed.
With this radio issue alone, I can find virtually no one who would like to see legislation to make it fair. Fairness has now become an un-American Activity. Whoever has the most money to gain the largest share wins.
The most prevalent answer I hear to this problem and the overall move to The Right is that the pendulum will swing back. Perhaps, but think hard of what happened in Germany during that wait. The parallels to the political propaganda are amazing. If you doubt that, tune in Rush Limbaugh any day you chose and replace the word Jew with Liberal and see how it sounds.
THE CORPORATION FOR PRIVATE CONSERVATIVE BROADCASTING

We all often complain about the absurdity of the phrase liberal bias media, especially when we think in the terms of print dailies and their 90% sponsorship of Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush and Dole, but some of us have it worse than others. In large urban areas there are often only choices between Conservative and Republican dailies, but in more and more cities we are having less and less options as one paper buys out the other.
Sure the New York Post is owned and operated by Newt's partner in power, Rupert Murdoch with an editorial staff off in Ollie-Ollie-Land, the Washington Times owned by His Mooness makes no bones about where they are at, or the daily with the largest circulation in America, The Wall Street Journal and it's full tilt conservative spin makes no apologies, but all those papers are in areas where people have choices to read something else. But people in our heartland with small cities and towns have no such luck, many filled with Right-wing Religious bias from front to back and are the only show in town.
Many people in those areas of America do have at least one alternative to that daily dose of right-wing propaganda with NPR and PBS, but not for long. This is not one of those areas were reason, the Senate, or the Veto Pen can do anything, Gingrich, intends to destroy the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through his power as Speaker to keep any funding of commercial free media from the House floor. Remember this is about only two things, allowing Rupert Murdoch to buy up the failed licenses of the small public radio and television stations who can not manage on their own, and to push the button of right-wing ideology over the common good.
BITCH HUNT
The bitch hunts were the main stories the summer of '95, the Religious Right won over Jane Roe, the conservatives got Shannon Faulkner, and though the Right-wing missed getting Janet Reno, they are still doing a wonderful job demonizing Hillary Clinton.
Be sure to understand that the Whitewater (Nadagate) hearings have indeed veered from the valid issue of it's cause, S & L deregulation and the resulting abuses up and down the line; to the charge that Hillary Clinton covered up a 17 year old bad business deal with the inference that she was involved in the murder of Vince Foster. The premise is based on political hatred of such degree that neurotic delusions are now the basis of Republican committee inquiries. The purpose of Nadagate is to impeach the President of the United States and if that fails, to at least destroy him through his wife. And it's working to some extent. They have control of the Supreme Court, the House, the Senate, AM radio and are now bringing that same sick propaganda into congressional hearings and all over television and cyberspace. Now connect this to the Communications bill which allows the richest most conservative individuals in the world (not just America) to buy, with their ready cash, 35% each of the entire media market in America. What's to keep Adolph Coors and Pat Robertson to buy up the 65% Rupert Murdoch can't? Not a thing...
SEX OR VIOLENCE
It is an or question coming soon to your TV. The defacto teacher/parent for most children is in for some changes soon. PBS will lose so much federal money they will be forced to displace programming with more on the air fund-raising and possibly causing you to have to go buy a larger mailbox. Deregulation will cause cable rates to go up with requirements for substantial children programming axed. If Big Bird is still around he may be hawking Remmington and Westinghouse.
Probably the most noticeable change will be the decrease in sexual content with a subsequent increase in violence. The industry knows those two things sell the most twinkies, and as the GOP committees begin to censor sexual content, networks will be forced to replace it with more violence.
I have a commercial pilot friend on the European run who often talks about prime time TV over there. Public service ads showing a woman's hands putting a condom on a real penis, game shows where housewives strip for prizes, boobs and butts and full frontal nudity wherever you turn, while they censor violence in both television and movies. But here in America we are a lot wiser than that, sex is bad, violence is good; so to make up for the ratings lost in less sex, we will be seeing quite a bit more shows of people with big guns in cars, trains, planes, on horses and on foot chasing and shooting at other people running away from them in cars, trains, planes, on horses and on foot with big guns. And the countries that censor the violence and not the sex, in magnitudes have less violence and unwanted pregnancies than those who do it the other way around. This parochial nitwit nation of ours needs a lobotomy.
INTELLIGENT AMERICAN PUBLIC MY ASS
Rush says the worst thing about liberals is that they think the American people are stupid. Rush is wrong, liberals know the American people are stupid, it's just not wise for any of them looking for a vote or a buck to say so. Studies show 10% of Americans are illiterate and as many as 35% functionally so. A recent study compared what Americans knew about history and current events to the rest of the industrialized world and we came in last in every category except entertainment and sports trivia, in some areas in magnitudes less knowledgeable.
The American people are blaming the news media today for trial by television in the Simpson case as they gobble it up in numbers as never before. They cry about meaningless soundbites and negative campaigning as they slop it up with a ladle. They moan about violence on TV as they tune it in by the clip full. They cry about the special interests, PACS, and lobbyists as they send their money to special interests, PACS and lobbyists. They moan and groan about the damn govmint and run to it with their hands out when anyone sneezes. They scream about the criminal justice system while refusing to do a damn thing about it other than building more jails and buying more potassium chloride. They whine about political correctness on campus where people are scolded for their intolerant attitudes while they throw those in jail those who say what they happen to not like hearing. Intelligent American public my ass.
PENISES, SEMEN, MURDER AND DOGS
Summer had changed forever this year for Rack. Now with school out and the older one capable of a marginal degree of responsibility, she could watch the little one without leaving marks. This meant they were both home all day while Rack tried to run his various pro bono businesses. Not only did he now spend most of his day as arbitrator, cook and recipient of seven godzillion stupid questions, but as they both got to stay up a few hours later each night (no school) his rug-ratobia was heightening. In fact it was so bad, he had just got off the phone to a friend over at NASA to see if there was any call for doing tests on children in orbit.
Not even a month into it and he was barking more than the dog. He was also in trouble with Flower over that old beast. The dog was overdue for put down. For the past 14 years it had done nothing but bestow a slobbering degree of enthusiastic love, smiles and optimism upon the family without a bitch or an unkind word (to anyone, ever), Rack had begun tossing it a chuck roast every night rather than the usual bowl of brown rocks.
Rack was pounding on the keyboard so hard his fingers bled. "How long can I use these same words" he mumbled to himself as intolerant, callous, selfish, right-wing, bigot, barrelheads flowed across the screen for the twentieth time that day. "Over used clichés," he admitted to the monitor, "but so utterly true, it's gotta be said. Perhaps in some future millennium it may get through."
"Dad, why did the President show that lady his penis?" The big one interrupted his key slapping. Rack looked up to see Pat Robertson and Paula Jones on the tube.
"Give me that clicker. Come on. Bring it here." He snapped over to CSPAN to get a dose of congress and told the kids to leave it on, if they didn't like it they could always do something they hadn't done yet this summer, go outside.
Once again lost in redundant name calling he was interrupted. "What's semen Dad?"
Rack looked up to see Dan Burton (R-Indiania), one of the endless stream of intolerant, callous, selfish, right-wing bigoted barrelheads talk about how the dead Vince Foster had semen all over his underwear after the suicide. "Here's the damn clicker, change it yourself." He gave in.
Typing away, making macro commands for Christianazi and Conservanazi, she did it again.
"Who did the President murder anyway?"
"Oh Gosh... Who is that, Falwell. Damn. Okay give me that thing dammit." Rack searched the channels for something more acceptable to the 6 to 12 year old audience.
"There, now leave it on this station, it's far better than any of that crap you've been watching." Rack went back to the keyboard listening to the more acceptable dialogs. "Hehehe, cool Beavis. Hey Butthead, this sucks. Hehe". Not one embarrassing or stupid question in half an hour and everyone was smiling along with the dog.
ATTENTION LIMBICILES

Hear just one side of each and every story, the only side! Rush knows what is most important to you! You, your family, your schools, your moral standards and most importantly, your tax money. Everything else is just so much crap! The poor, the homeless, minorities, immigrants, foreigners, environmentalists, feminists, homosexuals and liberals are your enemy, all they want is to take what you got.
These Liberals, with an endless stream of sexually active lazy bums must be held at bay. Call or write the NRA or attend any local gun show and they will help you amass a weapons cache full of Teflon bullets, auto/switches, silencers and machine guns rivaling any religious cult to do the job!
Tune in the EIB network and realize that you are not the only one who doesn't give a rat's ass about a bunch of worthless minorities and homosexuals living around downtown somewhere, yet alone ignorant black and brown NON-Christians on the other side of the world. Get serious!

THE OTHER GUY CAN GO TO HELL
THE PIG
There are literally millions of conservanazis in this country; proud, callous, selfish, repulsive bigots in their own right, but only one stands above the rest to earn the moniker "The Pig".
There should never be any guilt or embarrassment associated with calling Rush Limbaugh a pig, for that is just what he is. Please understand that we call him this not because of his obesity, pinkish pallor, beady little close together eyes and turned up snout (though these factors do help in defining just which bovine to compare him with) but solely on the grounds of the nature of his rhetoric.
There is little problem with this pig doing his daily dose of Negro bashing, Gay bashing, Women bashing, Indian bashing, Liberal bashing, Environmentalist bashing, or the raw unbridled hatred he expresses three and a half hours a day toward the President and his wife, for after all, that hatred is what Conservatives are most about.
There is also little problem in him disallowing the airing of any opposition to anything he says; totalitarian fascism is also so indicative of the conservative mindset that he should not be castigated for just doing his job. But Rush goes beyond the standard fare of hate directed at the enemies of conservatives - the loathsome do-gooders and the dreaded other -- by delving into a realm of sleaze and unfairness seldom witnessed outside the pages of the American Spectator. There are four categories which define Rush Limbaugh as a pig. These all concern attacking those who are unable to defend themselves.
ANIMALS - This has been one of his mainstays from the start. From the glee he takes in telling the story of killing the mouse in his garbage can, to the joy he took when a shark devoured a sea otter in front of a group of California school children who had found it wounded, helped and released it. From the laughing satisfaction he gets from his soundtrack of farm animals being shot and slaughtered to Andy William's Born Free, to his seething hatred of Spotted Owls, whales and any other endangered species. From calling fellow Americans to search out beavers and kill as many as possible because they destroy trees to his never-ending dialogs of how worthless and stupid animals are. Ah, debating animals Rush, what a brave man you are.
THE HOMELESS - This has also been one of his long running themes. Not only making crude and obnoxious fun of the homeless, but always referring to them as drug addicts, drunks and worthless lazy bums when in reality the majority of them are women, children and the mentally disturbed, whom people like Rush so proudly refuse to help through any program at all. The homeless have nothing, the ultimate have-nots without a voice or even a radio to hear what's being said of them. Ah, bashing people living in cardboard boxes Rush, what a brave man you are.
LITTLE GIRLS - This is perhaps the low point in this pig's career. On his nightly television show he was flashing up pictures of White House happenings and said here comes a picture of the White House dog; up popped the poorest picture he could find of 13 year old Chelsea Clinton with braces glittering. He blamed it on a technical mistake. I am sure most of the his mindless moron viewers actually believed him. It was the height of piggyness. Ah, calling adolescent little girls dogs because you hate their parents Rush, what a brave man you are.
THE DEAD - This one is truly disgusting and often the thrust of his rhetoric. First it was his playing of part of a speech by John F. Kennedy which decries high tax rates. He plays it over and over again, commenting that JFK is a Rush Limbaugh "Dittohead", a friend of Rush Limbaugh's who if alive today would be a conservative sitting next to and honoring Rush Limbaugh. On and on and on, JFK the enemy of liberal democrats, JFK the conservative who hates taxes and social programs. Then later the same game with Martin Luther King who he falsely claims would be against Affirmative Action. Ah, debating the dead Rush, what a brave man you are.
Though Rush is a pig, deserves the name, and no one should feel even the slightest pang of guilt in calling his mother to tell her so, there is a semantic conundrum in this game of name-calling.
I apologize to all swine, hogs, pigs and bovines whether domestic or foreign, young or old, in houses or homeless, with braces or without, alive or dead.

The female jurors in the Menendenz case fell in love with one of the brothers and felt sorry for him. [Rush does his whiny squeaky Liberal voice making fun of compassion] "Get women off juries! The best way is to take the vote away from them so they are out of the jury pool! I said that a few times last week and everyone assumed I was serious."

Rush holds it up and asks CSPAN cameras to zoom in on the hollow-eyed decomposed face] This is the issue TIME was suppose to feature ME, RUSH LIMBAUGH on the cover, but they put this picture of Sally Jesse Rapheal on instead. An hour later a woman calls saying that though she agrees with most of what Rush says, she has a problem with his personal ad hominem attacks. Rush denies making ad hominem attacks using the standard tool of right-wing hosts, "Give me a specific example; who, when, where, and what exactly did I say." Many viewers were probably yelling at the TV, "LADY! LADY! AN HOUR AGO! RIGHT HERE HE DID IT! GET HIM! GET HIM!" But she must have only just tuned in, and like most callers, could only generalize giving Limbaugh another semantic win.

Rush often denies he makes personal attacks, here are a few I picked up recently just to make sure everyone understands what a pathological liar the pig is:
Warren Christopher - "prune face."
Robert Reich - "little coward."
Ann Richards - "born needing her face ironed."

The once top conservanazi in the House of Representatives, B1 Bob Dornan took to the Well in Clinton’s first year to scream at the Pentagon and Defense Secretary Les Aspin for not having The Rush Limbaugh Show broadcast 3 hours a day in 132 countries on Armed Forces Radio Telecasting System. Dornan said that not only was the Clinton administration censoring Mr. Limbaugh by not carrying the show, but doing so to protect Clinton's socialist immoral agenda. 69 other right-wing looney congressman agreed.
In a survey of 50,000 AFRTS radio listeners at the time; 95.9% said they wanted more sports and music, 3.9% said they would like more talk shows while only .2% asked for the Rush show specifically. Pentagon officials have said, "it is possible to get Rush on AFRTS if a program that reasonably balances his point of view can be found." A few days later Secretary of Defense Les Aspin buckled under to the request -- went over the head of the Pentagon -- and Rush has made it onto AFRTS with no plan of equal response. A week later Aspen was fired. Good!
I guess Dornan and his pack of weasels didn't think there was enough hatred directed at homosexuals in the military, after all, there are only a few soldiers going berserk and murdering gays each year, why not get that up to a few hundred a year? And of course, our soldiers must hear at least a few hours a day that their Commander-in-Chief is a yellow coward draft-dodging lying, fornicating adulterous socialist with a Marxist bull dyke wife and a thirteen year old daughter who is a dog. After all, how can our military be expected to perform as an effective fighting force without someone on the radio pandering to all that intolerance and bigotry already endemic in the institution?
The name calling and insults directed toward the President will also generate not quite a few in the military to refuse to follow the orders of a yellow coward draft dodging Commander-in-Chief. Perhaps the hate mongering will be so effective that a few of the unstable killers in the military will lay off the homosexuals and go gunning for the President. Which more and more people are coming to believe just may be Limbaugh's purpose.
