Well, I'm heading out to LIVE 8 right now, here in Philly armed with my camera. I'll probably not get close enough to get a good shot of Natalie Portman (Oh yeah, there's Stevie Wonder too but I would rather hear his music than look at pictures) but I am hoping to get good pix of the crowd. You never know when there could be a potential mainstream sighting.

I'm in a blue t shirt and green army pants and I have a Nikon digital, just in case you wanna meet me thru the million+ people hanging out. I'll have my orange pen in my back pocket.

I'll let you know if there's anything to report or post.

hey, Max, do me a favor? tell Dave Mathews that when he gets back to Saratoga tonight he has a very ticklish fan there who would love to… ummm… shake his hand! yeah… that’s it… really! 🙂

Hope you have a great time Max. The concert has been quite good from what I have seen on the webcast.....

Oh..Did you say Natalie Portman?

Pink Floyd...best performance of the event. I was astonished that MTV and VH1 did a commercial break during the ending crescendo of "Comfortably Numb." What the hell is wrong with those people?

Hey Max, imagine all the female bare feet and arm pits in that crowd?

I say.....mini-gathering at your place.

(Oh, and Pink Floyd really was awesome! Damn those morons who cut off "Comfortably Numb")

Im all for end of poverty but i refuse to be told by millionaires who get so much for acting or singing that i should feel guilty for african and other nation poverty and send part of my 10.30\hr check to them. If Brad Pitt would actually donate some of his own money, say 1/100th of his fortune instead of going on TV and telling us we are bad people for not giving money, maybe he could make a difference. Instead, he visits starving childern in Africa who don't know his name and feels like he is doing them a favor.

Hope you had a fantastic time Max, I was watching it home here in the UK and thought Pink Floyd and The Who were brilliant, they might be getting on a bit nowadays but they still have what it takes to rock. But OMG isn't Richard Gere looking old, I remember swooning over him many years ago in Pretty Woman.

Welcome to the ways of today's age! Which is why I watched maybe 30 mins of the whole MTV/VH1 broadcast then switched it off...seeing how they kept fuckin up Stevie Wonder's performance (not to mention..Stevie wasnt even singing on what I saw!) and got disgusted with it..Floyd was really the only reason I tuned in..but didnt end up seein it. Figure they'll be an uncut MPEG/AVI file floatin round from London's broadcast soon...and i'll grab it! :happyfloa

you are so lucky! I would have loved to be there...I just read an article that say Will Smith was hosting...and of course I showed that I truely am his biggest fan by not knowing and missing the concert..sucks...i need to get some more friends that are will smith fans so i have a better chance of knowin' what's happening. I didn't even know he'd be there..of course I didn't even know it was tonight, or I might have considered watching it. Well...I hope ya had fun...

You DO understand that plenty of celebs donate anonymously, right? So that the spirit of what charity is, what the meaning of giving for a cause is, and doing it for the glory of giving not the glory of one's self, all that isn't overshadowed by their fame, you know? And when celebs "put their face" on a charity, it gets more attention - and thus generates more $$ to a good cause - than if plumber Joe from Des Moines endorses the charity. So Brad kinda is doing them a favor. I saw conservative Christian Republican presidential candidate Pat Robertson also endorsing One.com who neither sings nor acts. And what about corporate philanthropy? While at the same time some corporations are ripping people off without even giving us the singing or acting. At $10.30/ hr, you're doing about as good as me and I'm going to One.com, while also helping out a domestic abuse shelter here in Dallas which gets no celebrity support (and I have a few other things cookin' as well). If you refuse to be told by millionaires, who do you accept being told by? I'm giving not because I'm a bad person, but because I'm good. Well, some of the time! :devil2:

I agree with the political statements expressed in this thread. Perhaps we should move them to the GENERAL DISCUSSIONS forum. And yes, I was disappointed that Stevie shared the singing with others. It only proved that when he DID chime in and sing his songs, his true genius shined through.

On the other note, all the pix I took were of the crowd. They were alot more interesting. And yes, there was bare arms and bare feet EVERYWHERE. Sometimes it was hard to take, especially when Linkin Park yelled, "Everybody put up your hands!".

Next concert, Paul McCartney - 13th row!!!

THAT sounds like the way to spend a Saturday!!! I was at an Independance Day party yesterday, too, and with some shoeless, and sleveless chickas, but nothing like "hundreds". And, sadly, nothing "happened", either.

Congrats on a great day!!

You know how people say "You're the man" You're the man" Well, you are THE man!! Millions..... Now I'm spinning.

I hear NEST was incredible, too.

Say, does anyone know where I can get a copy or a download of Geldof's "I Don't Like Mondays" and anything else he might have sang at Live 8? I was with my boys all day and missed the entire show. Any advice on where I can see his performance would be very much appreciated.

Can anyone guess where I got my screen name from?

🙂

Getting switched to overload,

Boomtown
