Mars: Here we are!

I don't know how many of you have heard, but tonight at 10:35 PM Pacific Time, the Mars Rover Curiosity landed on the surface of Mars.

This is an enormous achievement for both us as a country, and us as a race.

A lot of people are missing the importance of this, which is disheartening. It was only 50 years ago that the first soft landings were made on the moon. There are great things coming for NASA.

We've put a rover on Mars before. That's correct.

Doing it more than once is just that much more impressive, not to mention that this rover is much more suited for the job than the last one. Technology doesn't just stop advancing for half a decade.

This is a really big rover and loaded with scientific goodies. This will give us all sorts of useful info. Probably change up our views on mars and geology in general. Way to go NASA.

The pictures and video being sent to Earth are breathtaking. It boggles the mind, really. What an incredible universe we are a tiny part of.
