Massive cold wave gripping much of the country.

Weather like this can be life threatening. Today the high temperature here was in the low 80's. By Friday the high will fall into the mid to low 30's in Austin and winds of 15 to 25 mph out of the north will make it feel much colder, and we may be dealing with sleet and freezing rain. If you have to go out slow down while driving, bundle up and be careful.

Here in Sask we hit -30 degrees celcius without windchill.

If there was a wind, it would probably drop to -40 easily. But this is Canada, so it's supposed to be this cold...I still hate it, though.

We had a few inches of snow here today.

Thursday is supposed to be the worst of the cold, highs only in the low to mid 20s. Over the weekend, they said a "Wintry Mix" on Saturday, and maybe some snow on Sunday, for NYC.

The latest forecast I just heard at weather.com, now says "Potential for some snow accumulation" on both Saturday and Sunday. Nice. This, after a balmy high of 25 degrees on Thursday.

Hopefully, the forecast for the weekend will be wrong, but, even if the snow does come, it wont be surprising, considering the time of the year.

I went out for a walk today. It was positively freezing.. about 30 F, with high winds. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder , and then snow is expected this weekend.

Here, we are slowly returning to at least near normal temperatures for December, a welcome respite from what we have faced the last week or so.

I was just outside. It is currently 24 degrees, with very high winds. I wont be going out again today. Staying in and working on a day like today is good if one can do so.

Today is going to be a combination of very cold, and snow, in NYC. The temp is not expected to get out of the 20s, and up to 5 inches of snow is expected.

It seems I spoke too soon. The temperature climbed into the 40's, but a bitter icy wind out of the north made it feel much colder. The predicted high for tomorrow is 58. We'll see.
