Ok, I'm glad to read people have a sense of humor. I contemplated even posting that, thinking there might be some people thinking I'm making light of serious medical conditions. I actually just learned that word. I cant believe there's really a word for that. I love science.

I admit that I don't know anything about this phobia. Is there a reason for it? Someone was tickled to the point they couldn't handle it anymore, so the person thinks everyone is going to tickle them endlessly? That would cause the panic attacks that were mentioned, right?

Some people seem to be a bit confused, here. The OP said hypergargalesthesia, not pteronophobia. Hypergargalesthesia is a condition of extreme sensitivity to tickling, not a fear of it. It's physical and very real. Of course, I assume most people who suffer from hypergargalesthesia are also pteronophobic, but that's because it causes them intense physical discomfort.
