This may seem like a really stupid question, but I was just thinking about something I read years ago in a book by Napoleon Hill. I can't remember if it was Think & Grow Rich or one of his other books. In it he says that men's #1 motivation for becoming successful is to impress women. I was thinking how there are other motivators for men to become successful - to be able to buy things, to satisfy their ego, etc - but Hill said that impressing women was bigger than all the others.
Think and Grow Rich, the book Napoleon Hill is by far the most famous for, was first published in 1937 and today women are far more independent - financially and otherwise - than probably anyone even imagined back then. But even women who are already financially independent themselves, seem to prefer a man who is financially independent himself. I just don't know if men are still motivated the MOST to become successful by wanting to impress women. I mean, when a guy is going through law school or medical school, is he doing this to make himself into a more attractive potential mate? Maybe he is but he's not consciously aware of it?
Just wondering what your take is on the idea that men's #1 motivation for wanting to become successful is to impress women. And does "success" even mean only successful financially? Again, sorry if this is a stupid question 😛
