[Mini Project\VX]Tickle Mansion

Light version with ambush bug fixed.

Due to how VX Ace works, however, you can't load one of the old saves at the broken map and have it work. Assuming VX saves only cache the CURRENT map, you should be able to load one of the saves where you're in
Kunieda's room
or earlier and play up from there.

Basically. ~150MB of the 200 is unused RTP resources.

That is insane. And the whole time I thought the game was 200 MB. Turns out the actual game is only 1/4 of that - fascinating.

Well, good thing I still hadn't saved (or played) yet, so now I can start the game AND save at the broken map without worry.

Make like an alligator and bite me. lol

Lol! Hmmm - as you command.

I'm getting the same problem as Slacker. If i opt for going to Suzuka's office, whether I save or not, the screen just goes black and nothing happens. I've only just started playing through this though, and am loving it!

Seems like the game has had so many bugs. I will do like many with KP did and simply wait a while for all the bugs to be worked out and a decent bit of translation to be done.
I really have no idea what to download anymore at the moment so..

I believe the entire translation is done. The only bug reported bug, in the first translated release, was fixed in the second release. Someone on 4chan is said the bug is still there, so I just tried replaying it. They were wrong. Bug squashed.

Old save files may let you run into the bug; that's a VX Ace problem. A fresh start on the latest version will not let you run into the bug.

Now that's quite odd. I downloaded the 2nd release and went with a blank slate (hadn't played the first to begin with). Looks like I encountered said bug. Go to her office, get her, and then after they're both done talking the screen goes to black and stays that way. Redownloaded your patched thinking maybe I had the wrong one. Still there.

Gonna try one more playthrough from start to that spot and see.

Edit: Completely new playthrough turned up same results.

Going to check it out. I was just checking on a separate, "the study doesn't load at all" bug.

EDIT: Yup, confirmed.

Same type of bug, different place. "Action button" event instead of autorun. Since this is the second bug of that kind, I looked around to verify there weren't any more of those lying around. Found none. Going to upload a new, full version (52MB) and hopefully a smaller patch (12MB) to save people having to redownload the lot of it for a third or fourth time.

EDIT 2: Here's the patch. Extract it into the game folder and let it clobber your old Game.rgss3a file.
EDIT 3: The new full version can be found near the bottom of RPG Maker Translation thread's first post. I didn't link it directly in this post, because I'd rather only have to update the URL in one place.

-bows- happy to be of service heh.

I'll wait for the 52 MB since it's only a minute of my time, and if the 12 MB is like Screamer's post - well, it doesn't seem to want to be friends with my RTP (I even had both the English and Japanese RTP's and it wouldn't find either lol. Oh Ace, you so silly).

Edit: Blah, and then you edit while I post. Yes, I think this should work fine. -grabs it-

Edit2: Ah, what a disappointment on what I missed. -chuckles- Nothing much after that and just sadness abound.

RTP installation should have no bearing on it. Even copying the RTP folders into the folder should affect nothing, since all the audio is in the audio folder, and all the graphics seem to be packed into Game.rgss3a. Appreciate the the bug-spotting, though.

Ah, you're right. I see that now 🙂 Dida move here and a move there - without the RGSS, nuuuope. Place it in and "Oh hey there you are!"

Oh well, I'll write my review tomorrow. Might post a thread on something else too. It seems to be a great year for tickle RPG's haha

Excerllent work again, Lurk(a). I really hope you can get the rest of KP translated and any future work; since I think you did a phenomenal job! Really high quality translating there.

LO2 will be out, too. It'll be a good year. It'll be even better if Deus really comes back, or if someone picks up Labyrinth of Laughter back up, or starts working on some of those other untranslated games...

Translating Screamer's games wasn't too bad. Whenever I was stuck on something ambiguous, I could ask, "Hey, what is this?" and get an answer. TM was especially straightforward, since the dialog was all in one place. No hunting for little event tiles. With the Japanese games, I'd have no such luck.

All of that said, I'm going to leave finishing KP in the community's hands.

Ah, if Deus comes back.. I will shed manly tears of joy.
LoL should be put on hold anyways since Daabura decided to convert the project into Ace (mid-game, why? why would you do that???) and our old saves won't work. Plus, he is changing a few things on the earlier parts of the game. Ugh...why couldn't he have just released the desert/indian/whatev part after the machine labyrinth first? Anyways, it looks like it'd have to be translated from the ground up again. Urgh...
Think we had a few others. What happened to the Foxgirl one? Think I remember it was too graphic and disgusting in some places?

The thing with Screamer is that a) he speaks English, b) he is more accessible than the Jap artists and c) he actually is on TT. It's nice to be able to have quick responses to questions and problems.

I said ALLIGATOR not creepy anime chick...er, guy....er...whatever the hell that is!

:lol Hope you sleep well tonight. Also, don't save the picture, it'll only creep you out more if you read the name. I just couldn't help but be...NAAAAuuuughhttyyyy

With Love,
Fred

Oh yea, you're right. I just haven't heard anything from her so I didn't remember the status, aside from no one talking about the game.

In other news related to the thread, finished Tickle Mansion yesterday. Was a lot shorter than I expected, but then again it was simply a side-project. So yes, as I said earlier, will review in soon - just forgot to do it today. Probably when I wake up tomorrow.

I'll never forget Courage. That's one of my favorite cartoons.

That anime...whatever it was....got me, but the pic of Fred made me laugh and nostalgic. Thankyou. 🙂

Alright, time for a review of Tickle Mansion!

ANIMEWATCHER'S TICKLE MANSION REVIEW

Now, let me say that I know already this was a side project, and was testing out ideas that were new to you, Screamer. I've already taken that into account. I did enjoy it somewhat. Good story premise, one I could definitely relate to (though my parents didn't send me off to some special resort - I just had shitty sessions with my psychologist). I DID like your character's having such interesting personalities.
Neige was my fav because she felt the most solid - a tickle lover that stuck to her sharp and sarcastic tongue throughout the novel. The other characters (ok, maybe not the Suzuka), just felt tacked on unfortunately. Why would I say this when I enjoyed (to certain degrees) their problems and personalities?
They all just didn't click, and this is probably due to how short the novel is. Noriko was the "pure", Bible reading well-raised girl. Akari was the military family girl. Himeji was the...eccentric...girl. But their personalities were crazy, particularly Akari and Himeji.

I like Akari with her red hair and eyes - tends to be a weakness of mine - but then she opened her mouth and was all military speak 24/7. That just seemed too forced.
Noriko was too polite and happy-wappy right from the start. It was grating how super happy and kind she was to begin with, and that's probably my fault because I had done Katawa Shoujo a few months ago and Lilly just set the bar to this type of girl SO HIGH that no one will be able to touch her.
Himeji was insane, the comedic relief kind of insane, and of course definitely stood out. I do give you props for giving her a split personality, but I REALLY wish there was more given for her and her "normal" self.
And Kunieda - well she played the shy maid ok, but quite frankly she is forgettable too because she doesn't have an ending lol.

Their problems arrived to quickly and were discovered/dealt with too fast. I mean you really only get one scene when you find out and decide to both get your fetishes on with each other. I was really disappointed that the game quickly ended soon after that.

Characters like this NEED time to flesh out. I finished each route in...let's go with 10 minutes tops; maybe just a few once I saved right before the final choices. That's not enough time for anything - you meet, greet, eat, and then only have a couple choices before you hit an ending (or Game Over). If you ever decide to do a VN as your primary project, remember that length is KEY. It took me WEEKS to go through one Fate Stay Night route, and I LOVED it - each character was fleshed out, each caress and kiss meant something, every risky situation had me on the end of my seat, and each bad moment had me furious at those who hurt my favorite characters. I grew with the characters and got to know them on personal levels.

One final thing, choices. A Visual Novel is all about branching paths and choices. Regrettably, Tickle Mansion falls short on this. Why? Because nothing you choose matters before the last choices in the game. The car ride? Doesn't matter. Who you first meet? Doesn't matter. The questions you ask? Doesn't matter. What matters is when Neige strips down to her lingerie and goes out to claim a girl - that's when you get good or bad endings. It defeats the purpose of the rest of the novel, sadly, when everything you did before means 0. If there was a "give the middle finger" option, I could've chosen that again and again and still gotten the happy endings lol. Coding something like this will take a lot of time, but it has to be done right - each option needs to count to help determine what path/ending you get.

So in closing, Tickle Mansion is a good side-project and does show you thinking differently. It was a nice breather for me, and one I definitely won't discourage. However, the length needs to be a LOT longer - like - SIGNIFICANTLY longer. This will help really show the personalities and crazy traits your characters have. And choices throughout the novel need to affect the story and endings rather than just what different lines of text you get. Good first try at a VN though none the less 🙂

Gotta say.... this game relly was mini! I just beat it in about 20mins... and it's not exactly a visual novel....

Like i said, Tickle Mansion is NOT a game, but an experiment.
I know it's short, too short to be a VN, but i really had to understand how VX Ace works.

It was a good first attempt though, and it's nice to see you try thinking outside the box with other types of projects - after all RPG Maker is mainly used to make just RPG's.

it's alright,I'm playing around with Ace myself at the moment.... Admiteddly addicted to the cahracter maker

Checked the coding... yeah I hacked into the game, I was curious. Sue me out of my pants. Well for this stuff renpy is better for this kind of things because of shortcuts it has, but for manipulation of rpg maker in that manner I applaud you.

Still I am little disappointed about Suzuka Kuneida path. I wanted more out of them. Maybe in due time we could all chip in and create a longer version with more depth.
