Movies You Never See Anymore

The Beast

There's several movies that go by the title, The Beast. The one I'm thinking of is set during the Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan and concerns the plight of a tank patrol who get lost and wind-up in deep dooky with some `ghani tribesmen. I swear ever since 9/11, they haven't shown this movie...

Anyone remember "Charlotte's Web?" That's an old classic that I've seen since I was a kid. Nearly, all the film names in this thread are available on Vid/DVD. So you still them, but you have to make a trip to you local vid store.

I have a copy of the orginal Grinch cartoon, and "Horton Hear A Who" is included on the video as a bonus. They don't seem to show any of the old Dr. Sues shows anymore, except for "The Grinch." Anymore remember the one about the creature that lived in the skinny tower, but you never actually got to see the creature?

I also have a copy of "Wizards." I don't remember that ever being shown on TV, except on cable. "The Warriors" is usually shown a couple times a year.

There's an old horror flick called "The Dunwich Horror" that I'd like to see again. I saw it when I was about 10 and it scared the crap out of me.

I loved Charlotte's Web!! I collect pigs as a result of that movie. Also, loved the original cartoon version of "The Grinch" Haven't seen the Jim Carrey version yet. It isn't Christmas without that "Grinch" cartoon. it's as traditional as Frosty and Rudolph.

On the other side of the coin...

Years ago, you could watch It's a Wonderful Life on one or two winter chilled nights. It was worthy of scheduling a cup of cocoa just to catch it. Then ...who was it? Turner I think.....they bought the rights to it and it's been played near to death. Let's not even go into the "colorized" version. *vomit*

I got a copy years ago as a gift and I ignore all the time it's shown on tv and watch it one night with friends over popcorn and warm bevvies.

Sigh, television sucks.

Jo

I personally like the colorized version. Donna Reed is sooo beautiful. If I ever get married, I hope I'm a wife like Mrs. Bailey. "Welcome Home, Mr. Bailey"🙂

I remember seeing Charlotte's Web when I was around 9 or 10. It was one of the first movies to run on cable around here. At the time, I watched it over and over. But I haven't seen it in years.

Crydun, you haven't seen the updated version of The Grinch? You should really check it out this year! Of course, it doesn't touch the orginal, but I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised! The scenes showing Grinch when he was just a young Grinch, still in school, are hysterical!

I may have to do that! *hugs BBE*

From the 70s: "Gargoyles"

I keep remembering the lead gargolye with a stupid robot voice saying the lead gals name...."DI....AN....A!"

"The Strawberry Blonde", with James Cagney. He played the romantic lead. I only saw it once, probably 25 years ago, but I always search for it where rare movies can be found. So far, no luck.

I remember "Gargoyles." That was a big ABC movie of the week, or something like that, at one time. I saw that movie when I was around 9 or 10 and thought "hey, this is great." Then I saw it again when I was a teenager and thought "wow, this is awful." So if this movie ever airs again, I would say don't watch it! It's really, really, bad!

It's funny how bad your taste can be when you're very young. Another movie I used to think was great was "Rollerball." But I saw it again during my so-called adulthood, and I found it to be just plain boring.

Solar Babies....they never show it, though I recall seeing it about a million times in the alte 80's. They just don't air it anymore...lol With good reason! 😀 It was baaaaaaaaaaad!

Anyone remember Xanadu? I haven't seen that disaster aired anywhere for a long time.

I haven't seen The Beastmaster, or Conan the Barabarian in a while😀

Anyone remember The Sword and the Sorceror?

Yes! I remember Sword & The Sorcerer Mr. Natural! Whatta movie! Took me awhile, but I finally ran across a cheap print of it on VHS. Dunno if that ever played on teevee down here. They'd have had to cut it for parts, I'd think. I could be wrong, though. I never thought they'd be able to show the "South Park" movie intact on teevee, but damned if it wasn't on late last weekend, colorful language intact. I've noticed that Sci-Fi will show all kinds of gore and grue, but show alittle breast or even a peek at a nipple and the censors go into overtime...
