Well, I am almost freakishly eclectic in my musical tastes, but I'm also older than most of the forum members, so I'm not really representative. (But then I stand out from a lot of my contemporaries, too.) I enjoy music from Bach to Hank Williams, from Duke Ellington to Bruce Springsteen.
When driving, I listen almost exclusively to country and western music. I love the classics...Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins and, of course, Johnny Cash. Of the newer artists, I like Dwight Yoakam, Ian Tyson, Asleep at the Wheel, and the Flatlanders. In my occasional rock moods, I go for the Boss, the Allman Brothers, Hendrix, or the Band.
At home, it's Bach, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert...or it's Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby or Ella Fitzgerald. Oh, and Miles Davis, of course. If I listen to rock at the house, it's usually somebody like Jethro Tull or the Moody Blues...or soft rockers like Don McLean, Neil Young, Steve Forbert, and the Cowboy Junkies.
I also love Irish tenors...John McCormack, Frank Patterson, Ronan Tynan and the rest. And historic recordings from the early 20th century, like Nimbus Records' Prima Voce collection...Caruso, Ponselle, Schipa, Gigli and Chaliapin.
One might think I have no powers of discrimination at all, but the fact is I still find quite a bit to dislike: rap, heavy metal, bubblegum, disco, most contemporary country music. I can't bear Madonna, Shania or Nirvana, among others.
