What do you all think about the hotel we used for NEST?I found the staff i dealt with to be very nice and helpful. The only problem i had with my room was that the a/c never cooled it down enough, and i ran it full blast from the time i checked in until i left Monday morning.I was in several other rooms as well, and none of them seemed very cool to me.I understand that a lot of people in a small room makes a difference, and when i'm trying to sleep i like it pretty cool. The food in the resturant was average for a hotel i guess, but 12$ for a breakfest buffet?:eeks:I understand a different hotel will be used next year. Can something else be found with more dining options nearby?I didnt go to Ruby Tuesdays, but i heard a number of complaints about the food, service etc.I would be intrested in others people experiences.

I thought the hotel was pretty good , but Ruby Tuesdays....OMG...never again !

I had no issues with the hotel or anything, but then, I didn't have to deal with their bureaucracy or anything. 🙂

And yeah, Ruby Tuesday is well filed under 'Questionable Joints' in my book.

You'd think that with a pre-arranged, phoned-in group of 20-odd people coming over, they'd have been less grumpy about finding a place for us to eat.

Last time I worked in a restaurant, if that many people came in, my boss would be out there greeting, making sure people had a good time, letting everyone know their drinks would be free, etc.

Funny Bugman, my room was almost chilly with the air conditioner running. I had to turn the temperature up so I could sleep. Dinner at the hotel was OK especially with the pretty brunette waitress doting over us. Breakfast was so-so. I just got a few items and was charged accordingly. I avoided Ruby Tuesday's after I heard from several different people about the service Saturday morning. The bartender at the hotel wasn't afraid to load up the booze in a glass. I was done and staggering back to the room after about four cocktails. Bless him!

Oh yes. Bless the man. I like him. He's my new best friend! I called him Barney... I think. Fortunately, I was no longer in the vicinity at the time. Come to think of it, I might've actually been addressing Avenger. I didn't know Avenger was serving alcohol, did you? Remarkable stuff, that... stuff, he... served.

Not a bad sounding song, mistermae, but my french is very rusty and what has it to do with this NEST accommendations thread?

My room was TOO cold most of the time. I had to turn it DOWN on several occasions.
The food at the hiotel was average. But what surprised me - NO LUNCH?
Breakfast & dinner ONLY.
That petite VERY pretty brunette that 'served' us was extremely friendly.
Her name is Melanie. What a sweet girl.
Being a lazy person & not willing to venture into the outskirts of the city just to eat, I went to Ruby Tuesday's a few times. Yes, the service was not very good, but I can put up with it as long as I get to eat. Hahaha.
All of the staff says hello with a smile. Even the cleaning staff.
I liked the hotel overall, even with the 'No Lunch' policy.

Yes, Melanie was her name. She was the one who asked me what NEST stood for. I had her almost believing we were a tropical bird owners convention until she asked Pokey and he ratted me out. Boy, did she have fun with me after that!

So did Ann and Venraya....and anyone else who was near!

Ok, I have a confession to make . . .
I also told her EXACTLY what NEST meant & what we were doing there.
She thanked me for being so honest.
I think Bordman was with me.
She didn't seem to be surprised really.
I felt that, "Hey, ya never know. She may like this too, for all we know".
So I took a chance.
I just hope that this will not be a problem for future NESTs for me.
I don't want to be mistrusted.
She asked. I told the truth.
She asked me if we were coming back next year.
That made it seem like she was interested.
I told her I wasn't sure what the plan was for next year.

You may be right, Bart. She was hovering around the bar area and talking to us when she could.

I had no problems with the hotel, and the A/C in my room worked fine. I loved the big hot tub in their pool area.

$12 for buffet breakfast is a lot for that part of the country, but I'm used to NYC prices so it seemed normal to me. 😛

I can't say it was the worst experience I've had but I really had more issues this year with the hotel in general than in past years. The people behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were doing. I didn't eat at the hotel. Either way even if the hotel was crap, if NEST was held there I'd be there.

Complaints? Payin' for breakfast. I've travelled enough on biz to know that breakfast provided is a basic, whether on this continent, in England or in Australia. Chargin' me $12 was a cute idea. Service was so bad that I don't recall anyone collecting it from me, though.

The whole headcount restriction for visitors to a room was chump. That alone was tiresome. Also that we were on separate floors. We could EASILY have taken a floor, and most were there for at least 3 days. Better management would have seen that handled more adroitly.

Desk staff was cool, though.

As restaurant/bar combos, Ruby Tuesdays was in the category of adequate. Not good, but adequate. Wouldn't seek 'em out, but some of the waitresses were adequate, and one waiter had nearly the entirety of the females in our crew actin' all tingly. They gotta go SOMEWHERE wit' all that pheromonal chemistry rollin'. Happy belated birthday t'the mug. He was cool, too.

A/C in our room was good. Our room had a big ole tree blockin' the sun from bakin' the wall, though. I figure that whole deal was luck.

I figure next year won't suffer the same problems. Things grow and improve. NEST is a fine example of that ever-growin', ever-improvin' way.

That would be Dathan,he was a great guy.And i agree,Melaine was a delight.😀 I should also offer kudos to one of the shuttle drivers,i believe his name is Richard. He ran me to the airport Saturday to look for my bag,and was helpful in a number of ways. And damn it i forgot to tip him.I need to get in touch with the hotel and see if i can get something to him.

I personally didn't have any issues with the hotel. There was nothing really bothering me and besides that I didn't pay too much attention, I have to admit 😉
A/C in our room was fine, check in and check out was quick and friendly. I didn't eat at the hotel besides breakfast and that - yes that, including the service, wasn't really impressive.
Overall I'd say for the special rate we got it was ok, but the price they usually charge (and what I paid for my last night ) is definitely not worth it.

It was because of that REALLY nice shirt he was wearing! 😀 oh my oh my oh my... yup, that was one pretty shirt!

The A/C was ok but I was sharing a bed with a self-professed space heater so a meat locker would have worked for me.

Now if they could just have done something about all of that damn snoring. 🙄

As for me, I personally liked the hotel we stayed at & I didn't have any problems there. I did go to Ruby Tuesday's and had a good experience. I felt the people at the front were doing a decent job but that's my opinion and I am sticking to it.

:bouncybou :couch:

It says "from $179.01 per night" on that page, I would hope the group rate would be a lot lower. 😱

I was only joking... I did like where we stayed for this years' NEST. And I really do only stay at the Radison Warwick when it's on someone 'else's' ticket (smile).

I love how big those rooms are!

(But even if that's the hotel for next year, or
in some year to come, I'm not telling anyone
until they've properly registered) *grin*

I thought the hotel was fine however...

maybe we can find one with 'thicker' walls so security doesn't come knocking so often🙂

Actually, I'd be just as happy with the NESTees being all together, on one or two floors, with no unrelated folks on our floors, to prevent folks from calling security - it isn't as though we'd do that to each other! 🙂
