So, in your mind, women as a whole act dumb despite not being dumb? What makes you say that about the entire gender and do you think this is exclusive to females only? Also, if this was your main point, why did you decide to veil it as a thread about a movie?
When I say dumb not being dumb. I don't always mean intelligence but manipulation as well. In my opinion, this is a form of manipulation. As i said before, If they made the movie..great..good for them..but what was with the "woman power" photo. To me that was a :f--you: to guys. They cast Liam Hemsworth as the secretary and gave him glasses. You think that was an accident. this should of been a movie about ghost busting..but it has turned into a social statement. Should it bother me..no, realistically speaking. My thread was to call out their b/s that's all. Everything else was just my responses to questions.
You think the fact that the movie was made means women want a pat on the head? How did you arrive there?
Why the photo with the sign "woman power" on it with all of the signs of what they did. Why just not a group photo. They have end credits for a reason. No, this is again, this a social statement.
There is no celebrating over the fact women made a movie. Lucille Ball created and owned DesiLu Productions (which is now known as Paramount Pictures) over a half century ago, so this is not ground-breaking at all. You are the only one to have claimed that all of womankind wants applause over a silly comedy.
Actually I was stating the fact that some women weren't applauding it. the title of the thread was
New Ghostbusters trailer and movie receiving backlash. Don't know why everyone keeps omitting that.
There has been talk that the movie has a female-power vibe to it, but I believe that is because in Hollywood (which doesn't really reflect reality) there is a lot of talk of women not getting as many roles, or as many positive roles, as men, there is a lot of talk about female actresses not being paid as much as male counterparts (by both men and women), and there have even been smatterings of discussions on females not being funny in general.
Okay.... so now this bothers me. Why is it that every time a woman brings up the unfairness of life. It always about glits and glamour. I bet you if you tried to get a job pushing concrete or sewer work..then you could call unfairness if they didn't let you do it. I can't make a woman funny. My guess is timing. But I disagree. I think there are a lot of funny women. I grew up on I love lucy and thought lucille ball was a genius. Maybe its because the females in question are just not funny and people are using gender as a scapegoat because there are females in audience too judging their act.
I really think it was mostly a media thing to get people talking about / thinking about going to see the movie. No one in this thread aside from you seems upset by that. Rather, most of us are arguing with your beliefs and opinions and the way in which you're expressing them. It reads as if your intention is to be incendiary and rile people up. I'm not sure what good comes from that type of discussion.
You really think I rile up people. Didn't know my opinion was that important. Any posts I make is usually what is happening in the world. I don't expect everyone to agree...do you? The important thing is to remain civil about it. I have never called anyone a name but have been called one or two. So maybe you should talk to them not me.
Personally, as a female (which, correct me if I'm wrong, you've never been) I think it is important to empower women so that they feel motivated to go after jobs in fields that have been mostly dominated by men. If a woman wants to be on the front lines, she should do so. When a culture has made a group of people feel insecure for generations, it takes time to move past that. I don't think it's nearly as bad as it was in the past, but this thread is a great example that those generalizations still exist. That people feel some type of way if women make a movie or if they voice their opinion on something.
See, even you admit its insecurity not power. I bet if a woman invented the next state of the art tv. no one would stop her. there are many powerful women in congress and entertainment. Not sure why women still need to be empowered. So maybe you are right..women need to be em-powered because of insecurity but what praise people give you ...they can also take a away. So are you really empowered?
I am the only female where I work and there is pressure for me to work much harder than my male co-workers in order to be noticed for promotions and raises, etc. My ideas aren't always respected and I am not always taken seriously.
you know that is against the law right?
It's the nature of a society that is only a generation past the days where the only positions available to females were only secretaries and teachers and they couldn't even get their own bank account.
Yeah, well just remember I was mocked, cussed at, called names by the some on here for taking women seriously and was told not to. I know this isn't my fault.
There are varying degrees of feminists. If you think they are about victim-hood and weakness, then you're kind of contradicting your facade of thinking they are just as capable as men. Because that's the exact same argument most feminists are trying to make.
"Once again Mr. Gambini...the communication process is broken down " <My Cousin Vinny>
I never said women couldn't do..I said stop pretending you can't do. I also said, that feminist act like all women are victims and weak by empowering them. You admitted yourself...its because of insecurity. So what does that say...when you empower ..you are admitting you are weak.
