New Ghostbusters trailer and movie recieving backlash

This is really just to get women to talk to you on the internet, isn't it?
I suppose even negative attention is attention.....

Yeah..that's it..you figured out my plan all along. Argue with them. That will do it. Because that always works. Instead of agreeing with them like others do. :typerhappy:

Yeah, as I've said, I'm not here for companionship. I sort of have that covered in real life. You, on the other hand, seem to start every other thread with "Ladies, I have a question" before you unleash your torrent of bitter, hilariously self-absorbed man-feels, and find it completely unbelievable that someone would side with the evil womenz unless they could get something out of it. No one's siding with the evil womenz. It's you (and the occasional troll) vs. people who are not pining for the 1950's.

Really? Every thread huh? Been on here for long time and every thread. Maybe you should check out every thread I've ever posted and count how many started with "ladies." This thread alone didn't start with Ladies either. I have also responded to every guy too. Plus, there is no crime on here asking a female perspective on a question. If I was pining for the 1950's....l would more interested in the physical features instead of their thought process. Nice try.

You know me so well.

Mostly, though, it's just another big-budget comedy movie starring professional comedy performers who, in this case, happen to be women. Parts of it might be less-than-funny and parts of it might be racially insensitive; the same things can be said of the first Ghostbusters. It also might be a terrible movie. Because women get to make terrible movies, just like men do.

agreed

Well that's an accomplishment worthy being proud of. You say its only a movie..maybe you should be telling them that. I am not the one who took it to a ridiculous level. I just called it out. But it is funny though...so proud are they of their accomplishment. Sad, sad, sad... the original post was just about some women that didn't buy into the b/s..but it quickly became men against women. Why, I guess because when a man isn't impressed by something has been done for centuries...its considered oppression. Why, because a woman did it. If it sucks as a movie...it sucks. Don't pull the ....'its because a woman did it' crap.

How did you come to that conclusion from just a silly movie? Why are you posting it from a feminist view if you don't see it that way?

Well, to be fair, like every member of the He-Man Woman Haters club, he knows what women are really all about.

Well, it's not like you're very complicated, and you tend to be repetitive in your rants.

My rants are women are smarter then they pretend to be (unless you disagree). A woman haters club is assuming women are incapable and stupid (which is what i seem to be defending against) and celebrate when they reach a point of accomplishments that should be celebrated every time they painted a car, or built a house or make a movie.

I am not the one that hates women...its the men and women that believe they accomplish something evidently that was soooooo beyond their capabilities that its female power. Going along with it is as saying: "you deserve a pat on the head because you accomplished something that has been done before." This is what its all about with the photo. Woman power.. I read between the lines. Woman power isn't about power its about having no power and clapping about making a movie. I think those who go along with it are the ones that really hate women.

In empowering women is like saying they need it. Are you admitting that women need to be empowered (having no smarts, abilities, or capabilities) or should we continue to clap every time they do what men have done for years. Should men start holding up signs when we invent something or design something. Maybe I will re-think my stance and clap every time women accomplish something like make a movie. Its surprising that no one can see this. I feel bad for any young women who have convinced themselves that it should be celebrated every time they do something like a movie because they are a woman. Not because they are talented. I used to build cabinets and have worked with women..not once did i say...damn, i didn't expect you to be able to build a cabinet..you know cause you are a woman...well women power. I said..you cut that piece i will cut this piece. Apparently...I should have clapped every time she cut a piece of wood...you know because she was a woman.

As for the other examples I gave about men and women. It was just the answer to the inequality of oppression that some like to say men have over women. Which is untrue. Both our genders oppress each other in some shape or form. I've seen to many feminists convincing people that they are so oppressed. Even to the point of creating a sign. Feminists aren't for women power....they are about women's victim-hood and weakness. Read between the lines.

1: How do women act less smart than they actually are?
2: How do women oppress men?

1. ask a woman. if she honest with you...you'll get your answer

2. not so much as women...but this world is designed to put a woman's feelings first above men's but some will say men's come first. More men die, commit suicide, go broke, get limited help then women do. The world takes care of women's problems more then men's problems but some will say its the opposite. I just don't see too many women looking to be equal with men in those areas.

So, in your mind, women as a whole act dumb despite not being dumb? What makes you say that about the entire gender and do you think this is exclusive to females only? Also, if this was your main point, why did you decide to veil it as a thread about a movie?

You think the fact that the movie was made means women want a pat on the head? How did you arrive there?

There is no celebrating over the fact women made a movie. Lucille Ball created and owned DesiLu Productions (which is now known as Paramount Pictures) over a half century ago, so this is not ground-breaking at all. You are the only one to have claimed that all of womankind wants applause over a silly comedy. There has been talk that the movie has a female-power vibe to it, but I believe that is because in Hollywood (which doesn't really reflect reality) there is a lot of talk of women not getting as many roles, or as many positive roles, as men, there is a lot of talk about female actresses not being paid as much as male counterparts (by both men and women), and there have even been smatterings of discussions on females not being funny in general. I really think it was mostly a media thing to get people talking about / thinking about going to see the movie. No one in this thread aside from you seems upset by that. Rather, most of us are arguing with your beliefs and opinions and the way in which you're expressing them. It reads as if your intention is to be incendiary and rile people up. I'm not sure what good comes from that type of discussion.

Personally, as a female (which, correct me if I'm wrong, you've never been) I think it is important to empower women so that they feel motivated to go after jobs in fields that have been mostly dominated by men. If a woman wants to be on the front lines, she should do so. When a culture has made a group of people feel insecure for generations, it takes time to move past that. I don't think it's nearly as bad as it was in the past, but this thread is a great example that those generalizations still exist. That people feel some type of way if women make a movie or if they voice their opinion on something.

I am the only female where I work and there is pressure for me to work much harder than my male co-workers in order to be noticed for promotions and raises, etc. My ideas aren't always respected and I am not always taken seriously. It's the nature of a society that is only a generation past the days where the only positions available to females were only secretaries and teachers and they couldn't even get their own bank account.

There are varying degrees of feminists. If you think they are about victim-hood and weakness, then you're kind of contradicting your facade of thinking they are just as capable as men. Because that's the exact same argument most feminists are trying to make.

When I say dumb not being dumb. I don't always mean intelligence but manipulation as well. In my opinion, this is a form of manipulation. As i said before, If they made the movie..great..good for them..but what was with the "woman power" photo. To me that was a :f--you: to guys. They cast Liam Hemsworth as the secretary and gave him glasses. You think that was an accident. this should of been a movie about ghost busting..but it has turned into a social statement. Should it bother me..no, realistically speaking. My thread was to call out their b/s that's all. Everything else was just my responses to questions.

You think the fact that the movie was made means women want a pat on the head? How did you arrive there?
Why the photo with the sign "woman power" on it with all of the signs of what they did. Why just not a group photo. They have end credits for a reason. No, this is again, this a social statement.

Actually I was stating the fact that some women weren't applauding it. the title of the thread was New Ghostbusters trailer and movie receiving backlash. Don't know why everyone keeps omitting that.

Okay.... so now this bothers me. Why is it that every time a woman brings up the unfairness of life. It always about glits and glamour. I bet you if you tried to get a job pushing concrete or sewer work..then you could call unfairness if they didn't let you do it. I can't make a woman funny. My guess is timing. But I disagree. I think there are a lot of funny women. I grew up on I love lucy and thought lucille ball was a genius. Maybe its because the females in question are just not funny and people are using gender as a scapegoat because there are females in audience too judging their act.

I really think it was mostly a media thing to get people talking about / thinking about going to see the movie. No one in this thread aside from you seems upset by that. You really think I rile up people. Didn't know my opinion was that important. Any posts I make is usually what is happening in the world. I don't expect everyone to agree...do you? The important thing is to remain civil about it. I have never called anyone a name but have been called one or two. So maybe you should talk to them not me.

Personally, as a female (which, correct me if I'm wrong, you've never been) I think it is important to empower women so that they feel motivated to go after jobs in fields that have been mostly dominated by men. See, even you admit its insecurity not power. I bet if a woman invented the next state of the art tv. no one would stop her. there are many powerful women in congress and entertainment. Not sure why women still need to be empowered. So maybe you are right..women need to be em-powered because of insecurity but what praise people give you ...they can also take a away. So are you really empowered?

I am the only female where I work and there is pressure for me to work much harder than my male co-workers in order to be noticed for promotions and raises, etc. My ideas aren't always respected and I am not always taken seriously.
you know that is against the law right?

It's the nature of a society that is only a generation past the days where the only positions available to females were only secretaries and teachers and they couldn't even get their own bank account.

Yeah, well just remember I was mocked, cussed at, called names by the some on here for taking women seriously and was told not to. I know this isn't my fault.

There are varying degrees of feminists. If you think they are about victim-hood and weakness, then you're kind of contradicting your facade of thinking they are just as capable as men. Because that's the exact same argument most feminists are trying to make.

"Once again Mr. Gambini...the communication process is broken down " <My Cousin Vinny>

I never said women couldn't do..I said stop pretending you can't do. I also said, that feminist act like all women are victims and weak by empowering them. You admitted yourself...its because of insecurity. So what does that say...when you empower ..you are admitting you are weak.

I meant inferior, not insecure. Thanks autocorrect lol

And it may be against the law, but you try to prove it and make that statement in a male dominant field. Even if I won something, probably would have to change my line of work. Lol

Anyway, as far as the Hollywood stuff, I haven't looked into it all enough to have an opinion, I was just relaying why the female power thing could be a gimmick. Dunno if that's what it is or not, though.

Auto-correct sucks sometimes.

Unfortunately, that is a harsh reality.

Well it might be a gimmick but not a very good one. The original cast wasn't made to uplift men so its has no purpose to be uplifting women. I could understand (not accept...lol) if it was a story about the first voting rights or a biography for the first female director but ghostbusting...seriously. its not even an original story....its a re-boot.

Well the "female power" thing only enforces the inferiority complex in women, in my opinion. Instead of being a better scientist then a man..maybe they should be a better scientist. The truth of the matter is that men have always build things and looked to the stars (so to speak) to enhance our world. Women of the past (with a except few) weren't very interested as a collective. That's the only reason i could give that is why men nowadays may be running the world but you are only talking about the top ten percent bosses and entrepreneurs. The rest of us work a nine to five like everyone else and no, we don't always get respect for it...even by women.

That's an incredibly insulting statement towards women, but it's sadly unsurprising. You really do see them as adversaries in some great battle, don't you? And if any woman disagrees with your statement that they are dishonest at their core, she 's lying. Do you really think your own mother is smarter than she pretends to be? How incredibly condescending is that? Do you really think that all women are so duplicitous, even about their own intellect?

2. not so much as women...but this world is designed to put a woman's feelings first above men's but some will say men's come first. More men die, commit suicide, go broke, get limited help then women do. The world takes care of women's problems more then men's problems but some will say its the opposite. A lot of your statements have been flat-out wrong, and a lot have been your own feelings projected onto women, claiming to know how they feel about things, when you've never actually spoken to them about it. Or, if you've heard one of them speak, she must be lying, right? That's a really unhappy place to be, especially for a single man. I've said it before, because a depressing number of single / unhappily married men on the TMF bear it out, pretty much on a daily basis; It's not women that make men so crazy, it's that men can't deal with their own feelings about women. It gets them all bound up and susceptible to the kind of they're all against us mentality that you've fallen victim to.

The rest of us work a nine to five like everyone else and no, we don't always get respect for it...even by women.

Can you exactly address this: why do you think YOU (or the rest of your fellow men) are not always gaining all the respect you deserve?

Its not about being better, its about having the same opportunities and treated with the same respect.

Again it has to do with the men in charge that runs it not all men general. When I was working with women I couldn't give them a promotion even if i wanted. I think some women keep thinking that when they say men don't provide opportunities to women and hold them back. Its a lie. Not all men have that position.

Well on a collective level ----Homeless men aren't respected. Abused men aren't respected. Nice guys aren't respected. Regular guys aren't respected. Ugly guys aren't respected. Geek men aren't respected. Nerd men aren't respected. Cowardly men aren't respected. Scrawny guys aren't respected. Short guys aren't respected. just to name a few.

You realize that the first bolded statement proves the second, right? I don't know any woman, even the most strident feminist, who walks up to any random dude, points a finger, and says, "It's YOUR fault!"; but when you deny that there's systematic discrimination and unfair treatment on a lot of levels, then yeah, it's fair to call you part of the problem. You can't fix a problem if you're not even comfortable admitting it exists.

This is about dating, isn't it? I mean, it's not like homeless women are respected, right? And where does cowardly enter the mix?

Actually it doesn't. I said all men in general. That's like saying I work for Oprah or Hillary Clinton and didn't get a raise because of women. Just because they are women doesn't mean all women are to blame for my lack of promotion from them.
