Thoughts on the early games.

The Chiefs go to 3 and 0 with a hard fought win over San Francisco. Mahomes sets another record by throwing 3 TD's, bringing his total to 13. The 49ers shot themselves in the foot early and often with 10 penalties for 148 yards. One hopes the injury that knocked Garoppolo out late in the game isn't as serious as first thought.

In other good news for KC Denver and Oakland lose today.

Drew Brees has now led 42 fourth quarter or overtime wins in his career. An amazing statistic. He also passed Brett Farve for most career completions.

What happened in the Twin Cities? Might be the shocker of the season so far.

If football keeps going the way they and headed, the NFL may soon stand for Not For Long.

OMG!! Clay Matthews just can't win!! This is stupid and they just need to put flags on the quarterbacks!!:ignite:

For the third time in three games Matthews was flagged for roughing the quarterback, even though the tackle was a form tackle. It was ruled that he landed with his weight on Smith.

On the previous series, Washington defensive tackle Pernell McPhee got to Aaron Rodgers, grabbed him around the waist while spinning, and basically flung him to the ground!! IMHO, much more violent than Matthews' tackle, and it WASN'T flagged. Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy argued until his face was a lovely shade of crimson. The explanation that he got was that the referee's view was blocked by about 14 bodies and therefore he didn't see the tackle on Rodgers!! There are six referees on the field for a reason, certainly ONE of you had to see the tackle!! I call it:bsflag:.

The author of the article said that Matthews should have taken his helmet, cleats, jersey and shoulder pads off, laid them on the field, walked off, up the tunnel got in his car and gone home right then and there. I don't blame him. He says he isn't going to change the way he plays and I applaud him for that. While the league has touted that they are making decisions based on player safety, they have swung the pendulum too far and it needs to come back to center. The game IS a violent one and the NFL seems to have missed that point when they adopted the current rules.

Many message boards I've read, and even people I've talked to have said that the NFL has gone soft. They have cancelled their TV subscriptions and refuse to watch football until the defense can tackle without repercussions, and the game resembles more of what they remember watching as a kid, I agree. For their sake, I hope that is soon. As for me, I will continue to watch, but with a skeptical eye. The fans who pay to fill the stands and pay to view the games deserve better.

I agree with your post 100%, and Matthews seems to be a marked man. I don't remember now, might have been during one of the the post game shows I heard that some members of the competition committee are having second thoughts about that BS rule. It needs to go, and now! Or tell the zebras not to throw the flag unless it's a flagrant hit.

In other news great job Lions! I loved it! 😀

The Cowboys are a bad football team right now.

The Chargers fall to the Rams, leaving the Chiefs in first place in the AFC West. The Denver game next week is going to be very interesting.

Way to go Matt Patricia!! The student knocks off the teacher 26-10.

It seems the Lions game plan was to control the line of scrimmage and control it they did. They gave Matthew Stafford time to throw, and the Lions had a 100 yard rusher for the first time since 2015. The Patriots looked horrible.

On defense the Lions harassed Brady all game They constantly got in his face, knocked him down, and Brady threw for only 133 yards with 1 TD and one pick.

Granted the Pats were playing without two of their defensive stars, but the outcome of the game was never in question. Brady spent a majority of the time on the sidelines as the Lions held a two to one advantage in time of possession.

Now many people have written the Patriots off and I'd like nothing better than to agree. I hope that teams can continue to keep them down. But, the Patriots have shown time and time again that just when they seem down, is when they turn it on.

It's too bad the Chiefs don't play the Rams until week 11. Both starting corners for the Rams,Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, both left the game with ankle injuries. Imagine what Mahomes might do to a couple of backups in the secondary.

I feel for Garoppolo. Was an ACL tear confirmed?

Yeah, he's done for the year. A damn shame.

Someone on the NFL Network claims the Chiefs are working on a trade for Earl Thomas. If that happens and then Berry and Sorenson get back on the field I think it would stop a lot of the bleeding on defense.

Last nights game was marred by four BS roughing the passer calls. And as I mentioned in another post some members of the Competition Committee are having second thoughts.
