And as for your question, it's a good one. I'm an amateur writer and creating OCs has always been a bit difficult for me. I think what type of person you should create should depend on what you want to do with them. For example my main OC is a heroine with anger issues and insanely ticklish :lol I wanted an excuse to put her into all kinds of different ticklish situations as a 'lee.
I think you have to put a little bit of yourself into your OC, especially if you have one you want to focus on. So what are you more likely to want to put -yourself- through?

My problem is, I am an OC creation addict. ^^;
I actually compiled a list of them the other month just to see how bad it is... I fell asleep at #397 LOL I have a handful of stories I work on with my hubs, eventually hoping to turn them into comics when the money troubles settle down and I can afford to limit commissions. Anyway, I'm the artist and primary character designer, and he contributes a lot by doing the lore building and most plot devices.
😀 Most all of the male characters are his and all of the females are mine. (We write it via RPing lol). Err- sorry I'll ramble all day about OCs if I don't stop.
Anyway YEAH I like to put a piece of myself into my OCs usually. Nuciferyne (my alarune "rose lady") is a persona, actually. *cough*Though I wear clothes irl I swear*cough*. But as a reflection of me, it would feel awkward to have her do anything OOC for me. I'm a demisexual, so I'm suuuper stuck on intimacy being a one-on-one deal with my hubs. However, I want a character that's... not me. That way, I can make them do annnnything --

As for character personality, my vote will be for someone who is the bluntly confident, adventure-seeking type - the optimistic, "bring it on!" sort of adventure that's never without challenge. Tickle-wise, could be a switch who always has a playfully determined grin on while tickling, and barking out "DO YOUR WORST!!" amidst the squeals and laughter while being tickled. It'll be a rather unique personality in the OC world, for sure! 😉
