A LOT of folks I know (self included) are having a very rough year...

I've had some unpleasant spots, no doubt, but overall, I'd probably have to call it a good year.

If you think you're losing your mind, you're not. The crazy people have no idea they've lost it.

I'm having a great year. I would recommend not watching the news though. Or at least be picky about what you watch and I don't mean politically, I mean a LOT of news stories are focused on the bad. Perhaps a TIME magazine would be better since everytime I've flipped through one, there's always something inspirational or some awesome thing I wouldn't have heard about on the TV.

Sorry to hear you're having a bad year so far, doesn't sound like you need a shrink though. Death and pain come and go, same as life and happiness - it all cycles. It will pass.

I think it depends what you watch on the news. I'm still waiting for Obama to come and meet our new ahem coalition. :bwahaha:

Nigel Farage (leader of UKIP) was almost killed in a plane crash whilst canvassing in one of those stupid little canvas planes.

A Labour MP from Bootle had his finger bitten off by a dog whilst canvassing.

Our economy has almost completely collapsed.

There's a chance that the pope might be arrested. :fingerscrossed:

Gary McKinnon, a man with Autism, who hacked into the Pentagon and scared the shit out of the American government in 2006 is now being protected from extradition in 2010.

I've spent most of this year laughing my arse off!

this year is just like the last, but i don't remember when i had a good year though so last year was bad too...

but this year does seem to be bad because of all the celebrities that keep dying. We do have celebrities die a few times a year, but this year it's just been bad, and they haven't been old or anything, it seems like we keep losing celebrities between the age of 20 and 50... not a bunch of them that are in their 80s or 70s and i find that kinda crazy.

'09 was harsh, but this year...I've lost a lot. I think, though, it's what we make of all the pain and trouble we have to endure to make the year work for us.

As anyone who has read my posts already knows, I'm having a very difficult year. My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in March. Right now, we're waiting to hear the reports from the doctors on what they're going to do to treat her. God willing, she will be okay. How the rest of my year goes will depend on what happens with her condition and her treatment. Right now, she's stable, knock on wood. Hopefully, she will continue to be.

Mitch

It's not been the greatest year but ya know, sometimes life is funny like that. And as my mom used to say - it can always be worse.

So I just go with the flow. Life isn't always happy rays of sunshine. Sometimes you just have to imagine those rays.

There's been a lot of rough stuff going on around me. But, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a bad year. Don't want to tempt fate. I pray that those having a hard time will have things calm down soon!

It has been kinda meh for me so far, but I have had worse years.

For me personally life's been heading in the right direction. However on a global scale things are changing on a scale too large to comprehend, and I find myself (and from what I hear the experts as well) unable to predict the effects of those changes on the future my generation is going to inherit.

But then again, worrying doesn't do dick, so don't worry, be happy.

Socially, I`ve had an ok year. Made some new friends, but lost some friends, as well. My oldest daughter got married in August, and seems happy. Her and my son inlaw just bought a home, and will be moving in late January.:veryhappy. But my youngest daughter broke up with her live in boyfriend after just signing a year long lease on an apartment that she cannot afford alone on her salary, and yours truly is helping foot the bill. I`m one of the lucky ones who has a wonderful family. We are very close, and both parents are still in good health in their late 70`s. Attended a Christmas gathering at their home, and all my brothers, sister inlaws, nieces and nephews are in good health and doing well. As to the job situation, for much of the year it was up and down.....mostly down. But on November 1st I got hired on the largest construction job in downtown St. Louis in several years. Its a $200 million dollar project, and it should keep me very busy in 2011.:trippyrainbow:

For me,this year was a lot of things but most importantly it was far greater than last....2009 was an absolute train wreck. :sowrong:

To everyone who has been through a lousy time, here's to the coming year and hopefully it will be a memorable one filled with brighter days.

:toast:

An update: 2010 has been the worst year of my life. Not only was my mom diagnosed with cancer, but.. my relationships with my father, and a friend of 29 years, ended this year. I will be very happy to see 2010 go this Friday night!

I've had only two good things happen in 2010, I hope. One, my aunt saw my mom's current cancer doctors on TV. These doctors are wonderful, and will hopefully extend my mom's life greatly. Two, I got back in touch with a good friend whom I had lost touch with for over 20 years. I was much to blame for the end of the friendship with him,. but it was also a misunderstanding. Now, we talk at least once a week. It's great to be back in touch with him, especially if I move back to the NY area in 2011 or 2012 as I hope to.

Other than those things, it's been a terrible year for me. I thank my friends of the TMF who have been such a support to me this year. I hope that my support has helped those in need through their difficult times.

Mitch

This year, like every year, is precisely as good as you make it. 🙂

Everything in life is temporary, even life itself. The good things pass, and the bad things? They pass too. So enjoy the good stuff to the fullest, and let the bad stuff pass you by.

If things have got you down, stop and think - a year from now, you probably won't even remember most of this stuff. In 5 years you most certainly won't remember hardly any of it - and in 50 or 80 years, you'll be dead, and it won't be a concern at all. So why worry? Enjoy what you have while you have it - because no matter how bad you have it, you still have it pretty damn good.

Really.
