There... there's a giant moth thing in my room, and it scares me. It flies around sometimes and drives me out of the room. It's so big and evil, and I fear it'll eat me in the night!

I leave my door open in hopes it'll fly out someday. It's so big and wingy... bleeeecchhh... a terrifying beast, indeed!

This is no lie. Right now, he is sleeping or something, on a wall near this computer. Now, I must find a way to get rid of it...

Now, I need suggestions... what would be the best way to get rid of moth... you know, without going near it? 😛

lol oh well, I am gonna try something... involving a cup... and some paper towel. Wish me luck, people!

(I don't knwo whether or not this would've gone better in the humor forum, because, to me, this isn't humor! It's a big ass bug that wants me dead!)

First off, you're exagerating due to an obvious fear of moths or insects. Its not trying to kill you or anything. If you are loath to killing it, or even getting near it, perhaps you might have someone else dispose of it, or take it outside and let it go free.

You and the moth are in a very similiar situation.

I wasn't exactly being serious about the wanting me dead part. But, it IS big, and scares the hell outta me. Unfortunately, no one is awake right now that could help, as it's almost 4am.

I don't wanna kill it or anything, I just wanna get rid of it.

Turn out the lights in your room. Even your comp monitor.

then turn on the light in the hallway or whatever room is next to your bedroom.

They're attracted to light, so you can lure them out of your room.

I don't like killing insects either (or anything), and only do it when I need to, and theres a reason for it.

In that case, I'd just wait it out until tomorrow. I doubt the moth will be moving around all that much. Someone can take care of it for you. 🙂

Don't worry, that giant moth will get devoured by the giant spider under your bed... 😛

lol don't even talk about spiders. You're lucky my bed is just a couple of mattresses, so if the spider is, indeed, under my bed, then it has more-than-likely been dead for over a year! 😀

If I didn't have mattresses, I would probably start being paranoid and checking under my bed whenever I am going to lay down on it now... omg the horror!

ANyway, thanks guys. I don't know what happened to the moth, but I am awaiting it's return so that I can pounce, catch it in some sorta thing and get rid of it. Now, while I say that, I am sure I am just gonna flee the room once more! *sigh*

Ok--this kind of made me laugh but I'm terrified of spiders too.
Why? Because they BITE. So try and relax a little, the moth can't hurt you...

XOXO

Get the vacuum cleaner, hook up the longest extension, and pretend you're a Ghostbuster🙂

The Sean Man

Steph: lol yeah... but to me, it's not the biting. I could care less about that. It's just how they look... and the hair... !! - Anyway, it's basically the same thing with the moth, and basically any insect - It's not if they can hurt me or not, it's just that I don't like looking at them, or having one touch me. I'll freak out! 😱

blech!

Sean: Yeah, vacuum... actually, I do have a dirt devil which would make it easy, but meh...

If I were a mean person, I'd ask you if you have never heard of the Giant Amazonian Flesh Eating Moth (Mottus Carnivoricus Amazonicus), an only recently discovered species which has escaped from an American research lab two weeks ago.

But as I'm not a mean person, I would never dare to tell you that...

Listen to Sean on this one.

The vacuum cleaner is the tool for moths.

They aren't fast enough or agile enough.

They will win for a few minutes, but you will ultimately prevail

I want myself a pet frog! 😀

Anyway, thanks for all the advice on this, and I officially hate Hal for posting that picture and info! lol (not really)

Anyway, I can't seem to find it anywhere. It's not moving if it's still in the room. Maybe I got lucky and it flew out when I left the door open and went to sleep last night. Can only hope!

Nope, I guess I'm officially a moron, never heard of it, but can I just say for the official record...EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! That is NASTY...😛

XOXO

Yeah Steph, but so is my "supersize" can of Raid....kills bugs D-E-A-D 😀

Two words.....

Tensor lamp.

Attracted by the light, they fly straight (Well, more like a spiral pattern) into it, and are fried my the intese heat of the bulb.

I admit, it sounds a bit harsh, but when my old Apple IIe was situated near a air conditioner, all kinds of moths, big and little, managed to get through or around it, and all met the same untimely fate.

I, too, am Entamaphobic. (I believe that's the term) And highly, highly Aracnaphobic (And I knew that was the term even before the movie came out!), so I sympathize with ya on this one.
