Old People and Buffets

It was really cool to see! The dentist said that he gets so many customers that he was able to close his normal 9-5 office.

That's brilliant! My new business goal is to set up shop in a high-traffic truck stop, providing truckers with something important that they need... Hmm... :idunno:

Yes! And they still fry their apple pies.

And they have the best pot pies.

Damn it. Now I'm hungry for KFC. 😛

Ditto.

I want there macaroni and cheese. Lean Cuisine doesn't have shit on their mac-'n-cheese, but it does have shit in their mac-'n-cheese.

Going back on topic though, the KFC near me used to have a buffet. 😛

Not anymore though. *sigh*

I know you. You are just a cheap sob. 😛
Very true. 😛
Lol! I've worked in restaurants and I can attest to that. :jester:
Absolutely
Does anyone yell in a bad Chinese accent........YOU HERE FOUR HOUR!!! YOU GO NOW!!!!!!!!:bwahaha:

No, but I was once told to leave a buffet at an Italian restaurant that had advertised "all the pasta and meatballs that you can eat." I had had only had five big plates' full when they told me I was not welcome to stay any longer. I complained that they had advertised falsely since I could still eat more, but they wouldn't serve me any more so I left. I did file a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau.

I am trying to think what us truckers need 😀

Out of all the truck stops, the Petro chain has the best buffet :happyhop:

I've heard that happen to folks before. Why even bother to advertise AYCE if you can't eat all you can eat?

Knox, what do you call "expensive" for a chinese buffet? Here in Lancaster, it's about 8 bucks for lunch, and 12 for dinner.

Mitch

It's up about $15. No, thanks.

When I was in the service, they had, down south, something known as 'cafeteria chains'. One in particular was Piccadilly's. That's just what it was, a cafeteria- you'd go down a line, just like in school, and people behind the cases would serve you whatever you pointed at. You got one hell of a meal for $4 or $5...and it was good.

Golden Corral, though, is incredible.

That describes the McDonalds around the corner from me. Most of the tables feature local retirees, at all hours of the day, just gabbing away.

We don't have many buffets in my neighborhood. More pizzerias and sub shops than you could possibly imagine, but only two buffets, both Chinese. One seems to be more ridiculously expensive than the other. Go figure.

In MY alternate universe, there's a buffet for Kosher deli. Stations with pastrami and corned beef and every delicacy under the sun, with all kinds of sides and stacks of rye bread to make sandwiches, with a salad and relish bar, and a half sour bar, and fridge cases filled with Dr. Brown's soda.

My alternate universe is a nice place.

yum Knox, my kind of buffet....lot's of pickles!!

Alch...where I come from the buffets are few and far between, which for me is a blessing as I am a bit of a foodie and usually don't not find really good eats at these places. They have their places in this country...but with obesity rampant it is not the place to counteract that.

I prefer to find local good fare, if you look the deals are out there....and when I want to spend money go to the nice yummy places.

Also, I am getting closer to that golden age you mention and I hope my brain does not go south enough for me to choose these buffets over great food!

Does anyone yell in a bad Chinese accent........YOU HERE FOUR HOUR!!! YOU GO NOW!!!!!!!!:bwahaha: I wonder if anyone will get that 😛

This trucker loves a good buffet. Some truck stops have great ones. There is a TA truck stop in New Jersey that even has hard ice cream as part of the buffet.

Sometimes it is a wonder I can walk out to my truck after eating a buffet. 😀

where on the Turnpike Zod? I sometimes travel that way....

The TA I am talking about is on I78,exit 7 near the PA border.

On the NJ pike,it is exit 7 for the Petro truck stop,in Bordentown,NJ.Go south on 206. It is on the right hand side.Another great truck stop diner. That place gets packed at dinner time.

As I have gotten older the more I like buffets, I also like drive through. I only enjoy sitting in a restaurant if it's a new place. I have two great Chinese buffets where I live. My favorite thing about buffets, speaking as a senior. Is I can walk around the buffet and show people how high I can wear my pants!
