is when you post something on a Regular forum online. If people on the forum don't think its that important or if its not serious enough for them or even if they think your a Newbiew still and not ''up to there Level status or rank'' they simply just diss on you big time and make smart ass comments about your post or about you ingneneral. Granted i have done that in the past to but i try really hard NOT to🙂

but its like you have no choice. so give them a piece of there own smart ass comments back to them or who ever is repying back to your Post's

I can understand how you feel. It's happened to me more than a few times. However, you always have a choice. It's now up to you to decide how you're going to handle things. By the way, don't let others bother you. Some people on this forum think they know everything and try to run the good people off the board. They're not important and don't give them an inch! I wish you well in your decision making.

What I get pissed of at is when I make a post and then no one replies and the thread dies. It happens constantly here, and will no doubt happen in this very thread. Expect to see it vanish into the back pages by the end of today.

Samuel Goldwyn (who was the "G" in the MGM film studio) once said that if people are staying home and not going out to see your film, then you can't stop them.

Similarly with posts. If you make a post and nobody takes the time to respond to it, then you can't stop them. I've had plenty of posts that sank like a rock off the first page and were never heard from again. So what? It didn't stop me from making more posts when I wished. 😀

I'd like to think its some sort of hazing ritual, but that doesn't make sense online as it is unnecessary, crude, and accomplishes nothing and only serves to piss people off. This isn't good considering new members need to feel welcomed here in at least some capacity.

One thing is very certain to me however- like any other site, organization or club, there is an inner circle. If you are not a part of this circle you are ignored and your posts are ignored even if they are excellent posts.

While most of my posts are responded to, there have been instances where no one commented at all (I'm not talking about my art by the way, just my general posting). Now, I could have chosen to think that it was because they didn't like me, or I could have gone with what seemed more reasonable- they agreed with me, and nothing need be said because I said it perfectly and carried the sentiment over well enough that they didn't need to capitalize on it.

As my posts tend to be thought out and proper, I'm more inclined to believe that its because people agree with me more than they disagree. Just because you don't have people agreeing with you doesn't mean they don't. Although I will admit, it does feel better when people post, just to let others know as well.

Usually my posts provide an opening for interjections from others stemming into either serious conversation, or banter. Either is good under the depending circumstances.

If you feel you are being ignored, maybe its because you don't yet have a 'presense' here, and/or that presense isn't quite felt yet. I know I have a presense, and it took me a while to gain it. I assume it is like this for anyone that joins. If its attention you want, then post on issues or something. Thats the way to start getting it.

Even if the inner circles ignore you, for whatever reason, you can count on people in your situation, past or present, to talk to you.

Furthermore, don't worry about trying to impress these inner circles or having anything to do with them so long as they are like that. They usually aren't worth the expense. Getting their attention isn't important. Just do what you want to do in spite of their presense and you'll do fine.

You don't need these circles to get anywhere. Any status you attain here or anywhere is by your merits and yours alone. No one hands out status, its something that is earned, just like respect.

Been there, done that.
Some of these boards (local political shit, not the TMF) are snake pits and can make you feel six inches tall (the wrong way).

Just realize that you're talking to real people on these boards and those real people who hang out there all day have concrete opinions and will not listen to reason. So if you can break in and be heard, that's good.
Otherwise, move on.

We're drawn to this board from a common interest in tickling.

Other boards have different interests, like politics, not tickling.

Tickling or not, this site isn't any more tame than any other site. Period.

While its true all things have their place, I do not believe the TMF is somehow absolved from petty behavior and squabblings, even over tickling for that matter. I've seen several instances where people argue, chastize, and alienate others for various reasons. So you're switching politics for tickling, the issues are still there regardless.

I realize you are trying to paint a pretty picture, but its not always like that. And that brings us back to the original point, which you agreed with in saying no.

I'm not painting any kind of picture, and this ain't no squabble, this is an exchange of views which is fine with me.
Much more pleasant than other sites I've seen. The TMF is fun, those other sites aren't.

Theres a loop hole here, just like anywhere. Just because its more "fun" doesn't mean its not exactly as I said. These problems can exist and do exist everywhere.

Its just that initially it appeared as though you wanted it to seem like the TMF has no problems, as you made a clear difference between politics and the TMF. You didn't need to mention the TMF. The fact that you did would suggest you felt there needed to be a voiced and established difference. Perhaps there is, but isn't that trivial when problems and issues are everywhere?
