One thing I don't get about the sentencing

A man, bored with his fiancee, stuffed her in a cardboard box and buried her alive. He gets 20 years for attempted murder. But why does the friend who helped him get only 4 years? Perhaps it's a plea deal for helping the cops nail the main guy, but to me, 4 years seems ridiculously inadequate for someone who was there helping commit the crime the whole time the crime was being committed. How are they not equal partners in the crime? I don't even think 20 years is enough, for either of these two-legged animals.

What I don't understand is why they don't bury those two alive in a real box. I mean seriously, what would be wrong with that? Why do they just go to jail?

I can only say WTF???

I'm right there with ya'!

Lately not a single day has gone by without asking myself, WTF is wrong with people nowadays? Good friggin' grief! If you don't want to be with someone, here's a novel concept........LEAVE! Why deprive them of their very life?

Someone please help me understand.:sowrong:

Personally I would give them both life in prsion without the possibliity of parole.

Let me sum it up:

It's the crappy reality of human existence, that the evil people know how to manipulate the good, rule following people.

Police catch a murderer or terrorist or mob guy, who's done horrible things, (hell, even the fear they generate among the law abiding citizens is reason to throw their ass in jail,) citizens who work hard to pay taxes, so those taxes can go to feed and house the scum of society who committed the crimes against them/us (one more level of unfairness we must tolerate) but in order for them to get information out of the criminal, or help catching bigger criminals, they must promise them lighter sentences.

"Well, what if they just trick them, and give them the electric chair anyway?!!!" Because word would immediately get around through the media that the "evil" police tricked the poor innocent criminal, and no one would ever help in police investigations.

Yes, it is immensely frustrating, but it's sadly how life works.

I'm you're right, it must have been a plea bargain.

Also, anyone else super satisfied by the fact that she managed to escape using her engagement ring? Triumphant poetic justice, right there.

I'm with you, sir. If we had more sentencings geared towards capital punishment, it would be a much more efficient justice system. I believe people should lose the right to live; when they takeaway somebody else's, right to life. This system should also include people who are an accessory to murder/attempted murder.

What the hell??!!!! Some ass-clown got bored with his fiancee, so he tried to bury her? All he gets is 20 years? If there was ever an opportunity to really punish someone, this guy is it. May he get tasered in the testicles, THEN have her pull the switch on the electric chair. Being buried alive is a horrible way to perish and this clown tried to do that? To his fiancee of all people....

Wow..Just wow...

Prisons are very crowded here, and there's no political will to build bigger and better (i.e.worse) ones. As a result prison remains an absolute last resort and lawbreakers can offend for years without seeing the inside of one. (The authorities can always find room for people who can't afford to pay the exorbitant property taxes) In any case, the wet leftists who compose all parties here- there's very little practical difference between Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats all seem to consider criminals as somewhat misguided children, who should be gently cajoled and counselled out of antisocial behaviour. Fat chance.

I agree with a couple of the posters before, 4 years was probably from a generous plea deal. We don't know the details, maybe his testimony was the only thing that could be used to guarantee some sort of justice would be served.

Something about "attempted murder": the law seems to want to reward the attempter for the sheer luck of not having succeeded. The deed is still the same, and in this instance, the fact that she used a ring to dig herself out just underscores how close she was to not being able to dig herself out.

In the U.S. it's the poor slobs who get caught with a few ounces of marijuana that they always find room in jail for. As for the bit about the "wet left" regarding all criminals as misguided children, I can only speak for the United States. I can say that, here in the United States, we have a lot of pseudointellectuals who reduce everything to binaries, who will dismiss any and all theories of rehabilitation, and of preventing crime by providing recreational outlets for troubled youth, as being soft on crime, as if it were either all one or all the other. Not being an expert on situations in Britain, I cannot speak for whether there is a wet left that is as Libertine describes it, or for whether they have any such pseudointellectuals over there as we do here.
