"OVDA" The Mythological Tickle Monster

Hello all,

I don't usually post often. But I wanted to pass along this bit of information and also wanted to know if anyone else had heard of this.

When I was in grade school (5th or 6th I think) I was browsing books in the school library and came across a passage in a book on mythological monsters.

A creature called the "Ovda". In the book it was said to have blue skin and feet that are turned backward. If the Ovda catches you it will tickle you to death.

This has stayed with me since then. I wish I could remember the name of the book but I can't.

Anyhow, I did I search on "Ovda" and I came across quite a few links! Apparently it's a demon from finnish folklore. The description varies on each account. Take a look at the links and let me know what you think.

I'd also like to know if anyone else has heard of this before.

I never knew about this either. I looked it up, and one site said that it can appear as a man or woman (whatever entices you), and challenges you to dance or wrestle before carrying out the evil deed mentioned above.
