Another possible origin of tickling for some. Circa 1955, from Here Comes Snoopy Vol 1

I remember this strip. I had a book of Peanuts strips from the '50s and '60s and this was in it. As I remember, there were a few more panels to this...but it was a long time ago, so the memory could be a little foggy. Neat find, JoBelle.😎

I don't recall ever seeing this one before. Shultz must have been the tiniest bit of a ticklephile. There were at least two or three of these over the years.

This brings back a memory i had forgotten..when i was a kid..i had a book ...too bad i think i sold it at a garage sale..anyhow i believe it was a collective book of the peanuts comics to that date..it had a few panels like this..one were snoopy got tickled on the chin by lucy..then charlie got tickled by lucy..then there was yet another one were lucy got her foot tickled by charlie brown...i can't remember the premisre but she was holding out her foot to charlie brown and he said tickle tickle....and she made one of those funny faces.

That's the one I've been looking for. Snoopy takes Lucy's shoe and she yells at Charlie Brown and finally says..So what are you gonna do about it to which he responds with "tickle tickle.....

Daddy!! Thanks for those others! I'd seen them forever ago, but I can't find the book with those particular panels. I ADORE the one with Snoopy falling off of his house! *giggle* My fave!~

Jobelle you right click on the picture or panel that you want to post. then click on properties. copy the address of the picture. then come here and start a thread. one of the buttons right above where you write will say IMG. click that button, a box will pop open paste the addy of the picture into that box. then click "ok" that will be a direct link to the picture providing that its on a linkable webspace. hope this helps.

I remember receiving the large volume of Peanuts cartoons as a Christmas present back in the 60s. I was only seven or eight at the time, but I can recall looking at those pages containing tickling over and over. Of course, at the time I didn't know what the deal was. I had almost forgotten about that until this topic came up. Thanks for sparking this memory.

I love those cartoons! Looking at them brings back memories of saving my pennies and going to the used book store so that I could buy 2 or 3 of those little cartoon books. I remember thinking how funny Snoopy looked with that long snout of his, compared to the rather compact one he had later on. I still have those books somewhere in my basement. My mom knows better than to try and get me to throw them out or give them away! 😉

Wow, you're definitely digging up some old memories. I can remember looking at some of these strips when I was a kid over and over, as well. I can recall one other, very similar to the one posted with Lucy tickling Snoopy. Once again, Snoopy is atop his dog house and Lucy tickles his feet incessantly. In the final panel he 'remarks' that it's incredible how someone could bring so much joy to another (paraphrase).
