people really have this condition fear of tickling.

"To add insult to an already distressing condition, most fear of tickling therapies take months or years and sometimes even require the patient to be exposed repeatedly to their fear." I would love to do this, tickle people who fear it that means they are really ticklish.

Hm, interesting, maybe I should fake having this condition just so I can get tickled, lol. I shouldn't joke about this, I'm sure it's a serious condition...

FAKE.

Look closely..."Fear of Tickling" is capitalized and clearly copied and pasted in place of something else. It's like, "Fear of _____". Once, they missed it and say Fear of Flying.

LMAO!
A) Pussies!
B) Someone channeling Erica Jong?

XOXO

Yeah, it does look and sound quite fake, now that I read it over. It probably is a real phobia though I'm sure.

I believe I heard somewhere else that this is a real fear. Doesn't shock me, people can develope a fear of anything.

I'm sure its a real phobia somewhere. I've heard of stranger things people are afraid of aside from tickling.

I'm afraid of ticklish women with big breasts....gee, that SURE would be just AWFUL if some ticklish women with big breasts came along... :idunno:

...no?

Hmmmm

I can't see where the fun in tickling someone who had such a base fear of it would come in. Chances are you would be causing them far more pain then pleasure throughout most of the therapy and there's zero chance you'll "turn" them so to speak into ticklephiles through the experiance. Not very rewarding for either party really.

I hope not to disappoint, but that site is fake. Plug a few keywords into google and any random phobia and it spits out the same page, with tickling just changed to something else.

My thoughts exactly....The link is a crock in my opinion.

I have heard there are people on disability because of this fear. The thing is though I think there are more things there in my opinion. What I mean is if someone has a fear of tickling then more than likely they have other mental stuff too. In other words its probably a result of a paranoid schizoprhinic fear, this is just my guess.

I've actually read somewhere that this is a real fear, regardless of where the information is found, it's real. People can have a fear of anything.

I can also understand how someone can have a fear of it. It's a moment where you're not in control of your body, someone else is. They're forcing you to react in a way you prolly don't want to and that's a big thing.

Your opinion that a specific phobia is a manifestation of paranoid schizophrenia is both ill-informed and offensive.

He said it was a "guess" ala a theory, not an informed oppinion. At not point did he claim to know what he was talking about, saying it was a "guess" was a clear and obvious admitance of ignorance. There's no need to get so irrate when the poster clearly had no intention of offending anyone.

On topic, the fear is real. There is a name for it and I have also heard of cases, from memory there's something tiny like 4 in all of the U.S, of people not working and claiming disability from being so ticklish. Personally I wouldn't have any interest in tickling someone like that, they'd probably enjoy about as much as I'd enjoy getting shot at.

that be kinda of werid don't you think.you work at a disability claim office and someone comes in and says

-I need to make a disability claim.
-Oh what disability do you have?
-Well i have a fear of being tickled

not trying to offend anyone but when I hear the word disability I think of people with broken legs who can't work or people who have really bad backs there not suppose to lift anything but to not have to work because of this i don't know i mean im scared of spiders can i claim that im scared of spiders and don't have to work.
