Pink Floyd turn down $150 MIL (US)

Not to take away from the very noble cause that was "Live 8"... knowing that Pink Floyd happened to be a major part of it, I just had to post this.

Okay, they only played four songs, but they were AMAZING!! It would be awfully nice to think these guys could get together for one last tour, but its highly doubtful. I'm sure you guys have noticed the stats for album sales after the Live 8 shows... Pink Floyd's albums have sold at a tremendous pace since last saturday. I was quite pleased to hear that atleast David Gilmour plans to donate all subsequent profits as a result.

Pressure has been mounting, ofcourse, for these guys to kick off and not let the opportunity slip away. Knowing the Floyd, they'll do what they want... as they always have 😉

The Sun newspaper today reported that the Floyd have been begged to tour America. David Gilmour said: "We've been offered US$150million to do gigs in the States. It's completely mad - and we won't do it. The idea was for Live 8 as a one-off."

Can't say I disagree with him... but it would be great to see them live again just one more time 🙁

Not only was Pink Floyd awesome last weekend, but amazing how "loose" they sounded. This wasn't about a pristine , perfect concert or dynamic light show, but just getting the songs out there live again. Roger Waters was singing along with the songs he wasn't singing! They actually seem to be having fun onstage together. And did anyone else catch his mention to Syd Barrett at the beginning of "Wish You Were Here"? If this is "it" for Floyd, then they capped off their career outstandingly. Although I would love a full blown tour, no special effects or buttons and whistles...just the four guys onstage doing the classics one more time.

Sadly for all great bands, there has to come an end. Perhaps they will do one more tour. Only time will tell.

Fuckin' A, as they say. The Sun are highly regarded for making up the utmost bollocks in order to sell papers, so I'm not buying that. I think Floyd will tour again (Please)

Well in general, The Sun do make up bollocks, but in Floyd's case, only time will tell. I hope too much doesn't tick away before they decide to get their arse in gear and tour!

I've said this before but I'll say it again:

I don't believe they will tour again worldwide,but their performance last Saturday makes me believe they could perform a 1 or 2 night performance that could be televised live around the world and released on DVD.
I think they could book the Royal Albert Hall,set-up all the sophisticated gizmos and top of the line visual & audio recording equipment,a full house of lucky ticket holders and perform the trilogy albums: Dark Side of the Moon,Wish You Were Here,and Animals.Add to that Echoes,One of these Days and the threesome of Careful with that Axe,Set the Controls.. and Saucerful of Secrets.
Then pick a larger venue and perform The Wall.
Then we'd have a DVD with all the performances to cherish for our remaining days.
Then everyone can go home happy!
