Please Pray for My Dad

Crystal, I will continue to keep your dad in my thoughts. Remember, things happen for the best so keep that in your mind and things will work out for themselves.
 
Thanks to all of you for keeping Dad in your prayers. I really appreciate it. The doctor has now confirmed my mother's original thought: My father had a light stroke. He can walk now with a walker. He's not choking as much either. He has to have therapy though. I will keep you posted.
 
Whew! At least it was mild honey, and he's not paralyzed...Thank God!

More update....

Dad has taken a turn for the worse. Apparently, the reason he's choking on his food is because instead of going to his stomach, it's going to his lungs. He has to have a tube put in his stomach now for food, perhaps long-term. He will probably move to the nursing home(a different one) over the weekend. Please pray for my mother as well. She is wore out. Thanks to all of you for your concern.
 
Dear Crystal,

I am so very sorry for your father. I really hope that he can recover from this crisis. I also hope your mother can get all the rest she needs. I hope you have talked to a lawyer about what happened at that last nursing home in the meanwhile. I am at a loss for words as I really feel your pain. Your whole family remains in my prayers. Now, more than ever I surely hope we can chat again, or at least keep in touch. Take good care, my Dear Crystal.

I'm sorry to hear it hon. I AM glad he's going to another SNF though, hopefully one where they're more attentive to your dad's needs. A good PT can do wonders, BTW~we see it all the time!

Thanks so much for all your prayers. Dad had emergency surgery at 6;30 this morning. I just spoke to my mother a little while ago. Apparently, he has an inflammation of the esophagus,(Steph, would that make his stomach blow up as big as a balloon?) and they also did some biopsys to check for colon cancer and the like. They also inserted the feeding tube in his stomach. He can no longer have anything by mouth. All prayers will be appreciated at this time. IT's like everyday something else is wrong with him. I think this is the beginning of the end. I hope not but that's the feeling I get. Thanks again, Crystal
 
Hi sweetie~Sometimes inflammation results in swelling, but I'm wondering if maybe he's not suffering from edema (swelling with water.) Sometimes it affects the lungs (pulmonary edema) When it happens, they have to drain him. Please do note that I'm not a doctor, sweet pea, just a theory based on what I see on a daily basis. We're all praying like crazy for you. Keep us posted when you get time?

I've been away from computer access for awhile do I'm just seeing this. I hope your dad continues to make progress and you and your mom and him will be in my prayers. Take care of youself. You can't help your mom or dad if you are warn out.

update....

The pneumonia is easing up a bit. They put him on some new meds at the nursing home. He is also walking better although he's not 100% yet. His voice is better too. It's funny how things like this change our perspective on things. I'm very close to my father but we have had our differences mainly because of the generation gap and his illness. However, God has shown me that I'm more connected to my father than I realized. I only pray that God will grant him some more time so I can show him how I feel. He's an honest good man and the best father a girl could have.

A Very Close Call........

Dad almost died this morning. We got a call from the nursing home at 4am. Mom rushed up there and called me at 9:20am to say they were keeping him in the hospital. She called about an hour later sobbing hysterically. Apparently, he had a grand mal seizure while in the hospital. Mom said his entire body got red and his eyes rolled back in his head and stayed there. I went up later in the afternoon. He is not very responsive even then. All prayers are greatly appreciated and much needed. Thanks to all of you, you're my "other family"

I'm really sorry to hear it hon. I'll pray for your dad to make a speedy delivery or pass on quickly and painlessly, whichever God chooses for him is, as you know, what was meant to be. Rest secure in the knowledge that he knows that you and your mom love him and are there for him.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. He is not much better, unfortunately. I fear the worst while I hope for the best. They have him on Dilantin. He can barely speak, something he couldn't do yesterday or day before. he can also close his eyes. Other than that, he is the same.
 
Dad is back in the hospital again after being out for two days. They think he might have congestive heart failure now, as well as sleep apnea. Please pray that we will get through this. It seems like everything is going wrong. I can't focus on anything anymore. Thanks in advance for your prayers and thoughts.
