At work today, I found out that the niece of one of my co workers has a tumor on her kidney. 🙁 It was just discovered last night and, from the last I heard, she has been admitted to the hospital for a CATSCAN. So far, the family knows they are going to have to operate on her and she is going to have a kidney removed and undergo chemo. They are going to do a biopsy to see if there is any cancer.

This little girl is only 9 MONTHS old. Just a baby. All I kept thinking is that what if this was one of my kids.

I will keep you posted when I know more of what's going on.

We'll keep your co-workers niece in our prayers, Giantfan.

Rest assured Giant

the little angel will be kept in the thoughts and prayers of myself and my friend tonight. May God bless her and keep her safe.. he especially loves "the littlest of these"

We'll do that, Giantsfan. It's impossible to comprehend, at least for me, why things like this have to happen.

All I can say is that we'll remember her in our prayers.

She'll be in prayer, David. Please DO keep us informed. Poor little thing! 🙁

As someone who has lost a child, I can imagine what her parents are going through right now, and they are in my prayers as well. All will go well, just keep the Faith. - Dave

I will add this little girl, and her family, to my prayer list. All the great people here helped me with their prayers, and I'm sure they can help her, too. May God be with her.

So sorry to hear it. My sister's baby was born w/a tumor the size of a grapefruit in his tummy~Eight years later, he's cancer-free!
You hang in there, the technology is changing so fast!

XOXO

Thank you all soooo much...

you all are too kind. I don't have any news to report since the procedure was today and it started at 2 PM. This is an eight hour ordeal so they are still operating as I type. I know the mother of the girl is kept up on the progress every hour on the hour. I found out the tumor weighs 4 1/2 pounds. The tumor is not attached to anything else in the body, which I find encouraging.

Like I said, the biopsy still needs to be done and that will determine just how serious the situation is. In addition, the medical staff is doing another CATSCAN after the procedure to see if there were any "drips" from the tumor

I get misty eyed reading all these kind words and will let you know as I find out about things.

Thanks again.

Your friend's little one is having a special series or rosaries said for her( I hope you don;t mind but I mentioned it to my mother, who is a devout Catholic with a devotion to the Virgin) .. May god watch over her and may everything be operable and she grow in health and happiness. Please pass on my best wishes and prayers to her folks too.

I have no children of my own ( the major heartache of my now failed marriage) but I am a teacher, a loving aunt to an 11 yr old niece, and children are very dear to me and hold a special place in my heart.

Please keep us all updated

Update

The procedure went as planned. there were no complications. The tumor was removed and there were no drips. The tumor has NOT spread to any other vital organs. As of now, the little girl is in the best possible senario that one could ask for. Unfortunetely, the tumor was malignant, but the procedure removed everything. As of now, she still has to undergo the chemo and has to do so for the next six months. The prognosis is very good and the doctors can confidently assess that she will be able to lead a normal life. there is a 90% chance.

I want to again thank you for your well wishes and believe that you all had something to do with all this.

I want to recognize every one individually

Ann and Drew- thank you for remembering her in your prayers. I am lucky to call you friends.

Ghost- thank you for all that you said and did by mentioning this to your mom and for what your mom did as well

BBE- It IS impossible to comprehend such an injustice, but thank you for standing in her corner as well.

Double T- you did make a difference and the old adage, what goes aroung comes around has to be appropriate at this moment.

Thank you Shylittleme for your thoughts as well.

Dave2112- As a father of two kids, it makes me cry just to think of losing one of my kids. That is something that is just NOT supposed to happen. Thank you.

and last but CERTAINLY not least, Steph. Thank you so much for your kind words. It makes me feel better hearing this from someone in the healthcare field about the technology that they have out there today and how it can help her during her time of need. Also from seeing in with your nephew and how he came out. Thanx a million.

I will let you know how she is doing over time from here.
