I got a lot of PM's from guys I didn't know when I posted my picture in the TMF member pics section, I replied to some of them and some of them I didn't...I think it was just people who's username I knew from the forum that I would reply to. Sometimes I get PMd about the stories I've written on the stories board and that's always appreciated, and I do reply to those people and tell them thank you for reading my stories. I've sent random PM's before to discuss different things some of the members have posted, like in the politics board, and had some really interesting conversations because of that! There's several people I've gotten to know much better because they PM'd me or vice versa, like Ace Riley, suikoden, isabeau, pfromptown, and MrMacPhisto to name a few 🙂

I only reply to PM's from people who are pretty active in the forum. Most my PM's come from people with under 10 posts. It's kind of annoying. I might be thought of as dumb for reacting this way, but it's kind of a bother when people who are on here just to find people to "play" with or what not are PMing me everyday that aren't active in the forum.

Bleh. I used to respond when I first signed up here, but I realized that it has just become a bother and that there is always going to be someone PMing me and in the long run, I won't be able to keep up.

Hey, that's true. I hadn't even thought about it, but that's definitely a criteria I use too. I'd like to be able to read a few posts and get an idea of who the person is. I guess it's that if someone is just saying "Hi" (which seem to be a large percentage of the PMs) I'd like to have some idea who I'm talking to. That, and there's only so much time...

PM's can also be useful in keeping the TMF a safe place to visit. Slacker and I personally tracked down a jerk who had stolen another members ID and was causing alot of trouble, just to be a jerk. Yeah, for sure. If Lazzy had not had the guts to contact me (a complete stranger to him at the time), and not been persistent about corresponding with me, and if I had decided to ignore his messages we would not be one of the several TMF success stories. You never know what you could be missing out on by passing on any and all strangers that PM you. You could be one of the uber lucky infamous females who lands a gorgeous, sweet, funny, intelligent and furry teddy bear like Slacker (if I don't kidnap him first)!

The reason I pm someone is to get to know them better as friends, I mean tmf is like one big family right? so don't you think we should take the time to get to know some people? I think so and thats why I pm people. In fact I have made many friends that I now consider good friends and would love to meet in real life. I think of using the pm system like in real life, when you want to meet someone don't you go up to that person and talk to them? Yeah thats how you do it. same thing with pm's. Now I understand some people get asked dumb ass questions(mostly the women) like where are you ticklish and are you ticklish and that can get quite tired of always answering over and over (for god sake we have a whole website for that) let it go. So I understand if some women don't want to answer or get upset when a question like that gets asked over and over. I think imo pm's should only be used to get to the a person OUTSIDE of tickling. I mean we all are just nomal people with lives out side this website so if you want to talk with a person in private it should not be about what each and every person on this place is here for right am I alone in this? Get to know the person, his/her goals, fears, jobs, wants in life, their likes/dislikes, its not all about tickling. I know some people have only a one track mind and that is fine, but god some times people want to talk about something other then tickling or feet.

As for why I would respond to a person that I don't know at all is simple b/c they took the time to pm me and I would feel that by not atleast sending a reply back would be rude and a show of disrespect.

Anyway that is my 2 cents on this subject and I hope they helped 🙂

Situations like you described are one of the SOLE reasons why I am leary of PMing any females on this site unless I've talked to them a bit on the forum proper before feeling comfortable enough to PM them.

Angel_2 has some good points I think. A while back there was a similar discussion and many people made the point that this is a tickling site so people should expect, and not be irritated, to receive PMs asking tickle related questions. That attitude bugged me at the time, but I couldn't really figure out why- I just knew those kinds of PMs irritated me. But Angel has figured it out- the WHOLE site is for tickling stuff. In PMs we have the opportunity to actually get to know someone a little bit and sometimes we can find real friends there who we hang out with and dine with and SOMETIMES we find lovers there or even more.

Embrace the PM, friends. Who knows where it might lead?

I generally only PM people when I have a specific question or comment about something they said on the board.

I'll usually respond to anyone at least once, nine times out of ten, when someone PMs me, it's over a specific thing I said, and once I answer they're query, there's no further contact.

I rarely get or send PMs and if I do initiate contact through PM I make sure I have a damned good reason. (which has never happened in the past 5 years though)

If someone PMs me (which, as I said, rarely occurs) I reply with the question "why?" if it is not stated already, for I do not think I give anyone a really good reason to send one.
