Potential Huge Snowstorm Coming For Mid Atlantic-North East

DC And Baltimore have just been changed from Watches to Warnings In the last hour. They are saying potential accumulations there of 16 to 24 inches. It is still a Watch here in Lancaster, but I'm guessing by later today that will be changed to a Warning as well.

Looks like the entire Mid Atlantic/ Northeast will be in for a rough time.

Mitch

Great thread Mitch!!

HA! I knew toilet paper was essential to survival!

In your face, disbelievers! :domocute:
Yes, Cloudgazer's Yeti & Toilet Paper warnings were confirmed by Drew & Paracarl -- Never something to be taken for granted, in GOOD weather...

Especially if the Yeti's looking for toilet paper... * * * :imouttahe

Those who have grill might want to be sure they're ready to use too. If the power goes out (which is likely for some), you can always use the grill to prepare hot water/food. If you need to be out in it, don't forget to have a full gas tank, warm blanket, boots, shovel (a garden shovel works better than a snow shovel on heavy packed snow), food & water with you. Last time PA got a big hit, folks were stuck on the turnpike for a full day when accidents shut things down and crews couldn't get it cleared. And if you DO get stuck, be sure to conserve your gas by only running the engine intermittently...and keep your exhaust pipe clear so you don't end up with CO poisoning.

They just added a few more inches to the 10 plus we're expected to get. I'm waiting for them to add more. Sucks for the kids that this is happening on a weekend. It was always so fun to see that my school was closed due to winter weather lol.

LMAO! You should have been at the grocery store with me earlier today. A madhouse complete with shopping carts full of milk, bottled water, toilet paper and bread. I was cracking up! These people freak out every winter when we get winter storms. It's like snow is new to them or something. :jester:

For the record, I bought none of the above said items. I wanted Fruity Pebbles, iced tea, Kleenex and some chicken breasts that were on sale. That's how I roll.

Nice! They're estimating around 10 inches here but we shall see. That could change throughout the day.
We are slated for a possible 6 to 8 inches with moderate winds. As I left work we were told that we could be sent out in it anytime after midnight and just figure on working Saturday. Then it will slide over to Angels house Friday night.

We just sprayed for yeti's last week.

Drew

Hey, them's good eatin'!!:woot:

Bring it! And yep, I think I've eaten a yeti before. Good times.....good times....:dancingmonster:

They've now bumped it up to a blizzard warning for Jersey/DE . I talked with my brother earlier today. He was on his way down to his store on the shoreline and was smart enough to pack a bag in case he has to stay put and wait it out.

So far, it looks like it will miss us for the most part here in CT. Just some snow showers unless it shifts further north. Not too bad for us.

Babbles... I want that van! lol I'll go down to Jersey and collect some snow to send you in trade. Deal? 😉

On a semi-related note, I was once at a supermarket, before a snowstorm, where I witnessed an elderly couple with two shopping carts. One shopping cart was completely filled with bread. The other? Toilet paper, of course. It amuses me how some folks think that one storm means the beginning of an ice age, and that you'll never be able to leave your home again.

WE'RE ALL DOOMED!!!!

LOL I'll throw in a roll as a bonus. 😉

OMG, Babbles, lol. Also, thanks for the great thread compliment. It is appreciated. I'm the forum's resident snow forecaster, lol.

LMAO! Can I have some of that TP? Pretty please? :jester:

The snow started here about two hours ago and it's coming down hard and fast and the worst is yet to come. They keep increasing our snow totals too. Should be interesting to see what we get at the end. :snow:

Everyone stay safe out there! I talked with Kwil & Lite earlier. They got out early and are home safe. Watching conditions for a couple of friends who have no choice and have to be out in it. Those who are in the worst areas and have the option to stay in should do so!

Hopefully all of our Mid-Atantic friends are in safely. I forecast weather for 21 years and never saw one that looked this big for the northern VA/MD/Delaware/south Jersey area. Very impressive!
Meanwhile, zero here in the Providence area. 🙁

So far about 5 inches of snow here and potential for 4 more and heading for Bella and points east.

D.C. may get up to 30 inches, according to what I just saw on the news.

It started here about 15:00, and is to get heavy tonight. Washington D.C. is to get the worst of it.

It's crazy! And I'm in PA and now they're saying 14 inches, up to 18 in some locations near me. Lol, it took me 40 minutes to go the store that's 5 minutes from me.
