Breast cancer. Diagnosed today. Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink and we have no family history. Localized and prognosis is good, but still scary. Extremely. I am fucking beside myself, not knowing what to expect. I just know that I need to be strong around my mom. She needs me right now.

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED.

And it angers me.

hope everything goes well 4 her my friend

Sorry to hear that, Adam. I'll keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers. :twohugs:

[EDIT] Wanted to add a little more

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED.

And it angers me.

It's a hard thing to deal with. Many new cases of breast cancer happen to women who have no family history of it.

Adam, I have been diagnosed with Breast cancer about 2 years ago and I'm fine now. If caught early chances are very good, she will be fine as well eventually. Face it, but stay positive all the time, thats important!
I wish your mom, yourself and your entire family much strength and all the best of luck.
Please don't hesitate to PM me, if you think there is anything I can help with.

I just now sent some good thoughts & well-wishes your way , Adam. You should be receiving them momentarily. 🙂

Best of luck to you , your family , & especially your mom. Try & stay positive , m'man.

I'm SO sorry to hear this, hun! I will definitely keep you and your mother in my thoughts 🙂.

So sorry to hear this. 🙁 I will pray for her and your family Adam. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear this Adam. Good luck with everything. I know it's hard but she'll get through it.

I'll send good thoughts your way and prayers of course.

I'm really sorry to hear that!! Its never easy to deal with it when cancer hits the family.. Your mom is in my thoughts and prayers! She'll make it!

Thoughts are with you and Mom and the family, Adam....Keep the faith!

I'm so sorry, Adam. I know it's scary. I worry too, for it does run in my family.

Hey Adam, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Lots of support is on here for you 🙂 so keep the faith <3.

Good thoughts and prayers for you, your mom and your family.

Prayers to you and yours, Adam. I sincerely hope everything works out OK. Please keep us posted.

I wish you the best Adam. Keep her positive! That is the BEST medicine...trust me. Cancer is only as powerful as we make it.

My mother has been clear of breast cancer for 6 months now. She was STAGE 3 and it spread to some of her lymph nodes. The doctors only gave her a 20% chance of survival, but beat the odds.

I hope they caught it at an early stage. My mom is a breast cancer survivor so I know what you're going thru. If the prognosis is good probably not too much to worry about. Be strong for her. I wish you and your mom the very best!

Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot tell you how much your support means to me. I have been attempting to stay positive. Last night, I had a mini freak-out, but today, everyone seems to be pretty mellow about the situation. To the degree possible, of course. I will let you all know what happens.

Sorry I am late here mate but my thoughts are with you and your Mom too.

Stay strong! 🙂

Hey again, everyone. Just wanted to give you all an update. Mom met the surgeon early this morning to talk over the game plan. Things turned out really, really well. Apparently, it's a sort of intermediate growth that is still somewhere around stage 1 or 2. Her surgery is scheduled for September 4th, where the 2 cancerous lumps will be removed. She will need to have radiation therapy, 5 days a week for 4-6 weeks, but may well be spared chemo. Her survival rate stands between 95-98%, which is just absolutely wonderful news. Everyone is really optimistic.

The Friday of the surgery is going to be a long one, as the surgery is expected to take a good 8 hours. I'm taking the day off of work so that I can see mom before she goes into surgery... just in case, because you never really know for sure. I will then attempt to find some way to spend my time that will not have me thinking about her every waking second, probably to little if no avail. Keeping in touch with dad and little sister, I will return when mom awakens and can have visitors. Gifts in hand, of course.

I'd like to thank each any every one of you again. I've even gotten a ton of kindness from those that I haven't always gotten along too well with. That means so much to me, and I can promise you that it will not be forgotten. I love you guys like family.

That's great news Adam. My mother had a lumpectomy and hasn't had a problem since. These procedures are pretty routine these days as I'm sure you know. Everything should work out fine, that's a pretty high survival rate.
