Having now finished the entire series (thanks for the loaning from TKLMAN), I will now officially declare it one of the most amazing graphic novels of all time.

So now the question stands for Preacher fans, favorite moments/quotes from Preacher?

I wish HBO had made it a big mini series with serious financial backing when they looked into acquiring the rights, like they did with Band of Brothers. Preacher can not be done justice in a single movie. Absolutely love Preacher.
 
I have to say, as someone whose read the entire series numerous times, my favorite moment was in book nine, when Jesse was standing in the ruins of Ratwater, calling out the Saint and the subsequent conversation. Also, the entire portion of Jesse going home to Grandma's.

Quotes? I have a few...

Saint of Killers: "There ain't worse than me in all of Hell. Go an' look!"

Jesse: "No, we're leaving. You're gonna go fuck yourself."

Jesse: "Why is it the greatest champions of the white race always turn out to be the worst examples of it? YOU! Where the fuck is your chin??"

Herr Starr: "You shower of fucking arseholes!"

Dammit, that series NEEDS to get made into live action!!
 
Preacher is w/o a doubt one of the dopest things ever put to print , comics or otherwise. BlackestLily's declaration now makes that officially official ; so if you haven't read these books yet , you'd do well to remedy that unfortunate circumstance.


There are so many favorite moments of mine from this series , but here's one in particular that makes starting barfights sound like a very good idea :

Bar patron - "Don't think dressing like a fucking minister's gonna save your ass if I start kicking it!"

Reverend Jesse Custer - "I get through w/you , boy , you're gonna wish your daddy pulled out early."
 
My favorite part of the series has to be the last scene with the Saint--no spoilers--because that's gotta be the ballsiest fucking way to end a comic book ever done.

As for favorite quotes, some were already picked, so I'm gonna list others:

STARR: "Shoot the women first."

STARR: "How much does it cost to piss in your mouth?"

STARR: "How many children died at Sodom and Gomorrah?"

STARR: "Anyway, stick your head down the toilet. I'm coming."

STARR: "God exists and he's irrelevant."

THE SAINT: "I'll give ya this preacher...ain't never seen a man so set on dyin."

THE SAINT: "Most likely kill every livin' thing I find." [when asked what he is "gonna do"]

CUSTER: "IT'S TIME YOU-"

TULIP: "I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna save his life, and then I'm gonna kill him."

...and my all-time favorite...

COL. HOLDEN: "Call the motorpool and have 'em send over a tire iron. I'm gonna need it to get my boot out of this kraut son of a bitch's ass."
 
I love this series. My favourite part was the guy counting grains of sand on the beach and as a gust of wind blows away the ones he's contes, a single tear falls down his cheek. 😀

I was gutted to hear it would be a film instead of a series because the two outcomes will be that they'll butcher the story so that it doesn't offend anyone while cramming as much of the story as they can into it, or they'll stay true to the story and right-wing Christians will destroy all hope of a sequel and quite possibly stop the film being released in the first place.
 
The Saint of Killers is by far my favourite character. Herr Starr has the best fucking lines though!!

I wanna read it again nao. >.>

Can I get some film details too? I want to know who's going to play the Messiah!!!

Sadly, the Preacher movie has been in talks for years and nothing's come of it. The first time it came up, James Marsden, who played Cyclops in the X-Men movies, was set to play Jesse Custer. It was going to be based on the "Gone to Texas" storyline.

Anyways, my fave lines:

Cassidy: "I've been wanderin' round the world for three-quarters of a fuckin' century, watchin' all me mates dyin' or gettin' old, an' now I finally find someone else who's gonna live forever an' well, it turns out he's a bit of a prick."

What makes Preacher great is that anyone can read it. It has something for everyone. The action scenes are amazing. The funny parts are hilarious. The romantic parts are sweet as hell. The suspenseful parts have you cutting tension with a knife. Save for a select few, Preacher can safely be recommended to anyone. I'd love to see a movie someday, as a set trilogy like the Lord of the Rings movies.

Also, I'm SO glad you read it. Preacher is easily my favorite graphic novel of all time.
